It is not pretty and on scale only thing that is right is the height, but it is my first mock up. When I get the correct tools, I think I will be doing more mockups. I did enjoy doing it. Found a use for the old sale tags from work as well.

Sorry the PIC is so bad, did not feel like finding the tripod.

Bench is slowly coming to life. After I get the upper mine level figured out I will post a few more pictures.

Dave, don't get all mushy on me, but thank you. It has been a long road but I am getting there. Thanks mainly to the great folks here. Jeff, Crandall, Art Hill, and Tom (T-Stage) come to mind first but many others have helped as well and I like to thank all of them.

On the grade, it works fine! Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy! E-6's and 7's with 6 wheels trucks they are picky about track not being level. I was afraid it would derail when it hit the grade. Not a hitch and backing up from a number 4 Atlas turnout yet.

Far as track plain, well there been a few. I will see if I can find the one that sort of got me started. Main thing is I though I never had the room I needed.

For now the raised section will not hook to the main bench. One of the reason I designed this as a stand a lone section is so I have a train fix when I start tearing the other stuff down! Funny thing is I can be just as transfixed on the SD-50 Bloody Nose pulling its 13 car drag, as the Dash 9 and B40-8 pulling there 40 car drag on the A-line.

Special thanks, to Ken Kroschwitz owner of K-10's Models Trains. Think I drove you folk's nuts?

Extra thanks to Don Gibson as well! You made me so mad at times I had to learn just to prove you wrong.

Since re-entering the hobby in 2001 I've acquired 15 brass locos and a brass railbus.  All are vintage and still raw.  I figure I'll finish all the track and operate them for a while.  Once I'm sure I'm satisfied that they run the way they should, then I'll paint them.

I need to find a custom decal maker, too (I want white lettering and I don't have an Alps printer).

Does that sound like a rationalization?

How about posting a picture of yours in paint?

Thanks for the complement.

It's this weird brass thing.  In days of old, foreign loco-makers made beautiful golden locos, but they had two speeds:  Fast and stop (mostly stop).  Out of courtesy to their customers, they left them unpainted and without lights or windows so we can put in good motors and gears, tiny lamps, and ultra-thin glass, and so we can re-solder the occasional crooked part.  Then we, their valued customers, muster the courage to unleash the airbrush and bring forth the paint!

Sounds cool, huh?

I'm in the mustering nerve phase.

Shayfan:

Take it from an old brass man:  That "Mustering Nerve" phase can last a long, LONG time, LOL!

This one ran raw for 3 years.  Sure matched all those PFE reefers for a while, though.Evil [}:)]

That's a trick of the light. I used the flash on the shot so the left truck looks more heavily painted (it's not) because it's not as well lit.

I posted this on the other WPF thread, but it was on the downwind side of the fire.  I'm feeling so good about it that I want to be sure the less heated crowd gets to see it.

I've been working on this turntable for a few weeks.  It's HO scale and the pit is from scratch, but the bridge is a wood kit.  I used 5mm sealed ball bearings for the carrier wheels and it works great.

jeffrey, the tanker looks good.

Not a fan of graffiti myself, but as it is now all over your model is certainly a good representative of today's culture.

I drive by a large CN yard every day and it amazes me how widespread graffiti is, hardly a car without it.

You are off to a good start, what you have so far looks good.  I envy you having a garage available for your layout. Have you a trackplan of the new layout you could share?

Well, I was going to post in the other WPF but there's too much fire, though it seems to have died off a little.

Anywho, here's an old photo of mine, unfortunately, nothing new. maybe next WPF

Probably not. The usual troll has been playing around with assuming others' identities to embarrass them. "Lamoille Valley" is likely just the troll picking up stuff from Luke's profile to create his own bogus profile.

I think tstage confirmed my suspicions. Probably best to get back on topic now...

Since the other photo thread went down in flames, here's what I worked on this week. I spent a few hours on Thursday mixing plaster and applying wet castings on my layout:

Yesterday I spent some time applying the first round of coloring...I still have a lot of work to do.

Happy Easter, Cudaken!

Your layout is really coming along!  In the time you've been in the forum it's been fun watching you evolve into a true model railroader.
