refill, please & thanks!
Just ordered a bunch of Unitrack from onlinetrains. First time I've tried them, so will be interesting to see how they do with the order. Not enough track to complete a layout, but enough to allow further exploration of ideas. Guess I prefer a more tactile approach to this. I'm also getting impatient to see some progress.
Back to work at the ol' easel now.

Howdy everybody!
Jeff ... Good news about the foot getting better. Glad to learn the news.
Lee ... Glad to hear about the layout progress. Perhaps one or two diners can follow your example.
Now, everyone.... We all probably agree that Dick's recent avatar is exceptionally nice. I'm wondering, however, if you've seen Ryan's recent avatar.......... Let's vote: Does he look better in the current avatar or in his prior avatar?
Happy Model Railroading!

ROB: The Pollen Index is at max here today. I agree with you Rob regarding taking pills for anything, I take only what is absolutely necessary, like 81mg aspirin a day. Luckily, I don't get all red eyed and sneezy, and I really feel badly for those who do suffer from Pollen.
JIM: Another inch of rain forecasted for Cape Gerardeau I see on the Weather Channel, like you guys need more rain!!! And poor Denver, in the 70's two days ago and 2" of snow today.....ahhh Springtime in the Rockies !!
in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you.
***Jeffrey, that's good news about your foot. Wishing you continued healing!
***Ryan & Dick, our pollen count is 9.9 today. Bet the drug companies love this time of year for selling antihistamines, which I refuse to take. My FAVORITE drug ad of all time was called: Progenitorivox. It has been removed from the jibjab site, but can be found by searching for it elsewhere. Well worth seeing if you haven't.
Still looking for an in-stock Atlas (N) Shay for sale online, from a reputable store that takes Paypal. Our LHS has a good price on pre-order for the Kato GS4, but they still have not responded to my e-mails. Not a good way to draw in a new customer.
Hope everyone is having a great day.
Good morning.......63F already here, yesterday it hit 65F and today it will make the 70's, creeping higher every day.
JIM: NO TREES !!! Just bushes and shrubs......nothing over 6 feet high, I'm not Charlie Atlas you know, I do this by HAND, not big tractors and digging backhoes etc. LOL

RYAN: Pollen count is 8 on a scale of 10 here, every kind of tree around here is in bud, and with all the warm weather and full sun this week, the Pollen is really flying.

Morning, Zoe - a mocha to go, please. Have to leave the car with the Ford dealer so they can check it out on the chimes and sensors and alarms (...oh my!...). But I believe the other dealer (where I bought the Taurus) said they're going to cover the tab. {Sweet!)
NittanyLion, nice haul there, including the cars and such. Yep, it might just be track planning time for you - along with Dick, who's short on time because of his treescaping jobs that his CFO has him busy with...
Well, I will try to get back in a bit after the car place drops me off at the office. Hope you all have another gorgeous day like we're gonna have (70 F or so, a little breezy). Of course, the weatherguessers are saying chance of rain on Friday. Pooh! And, I have to go to w**k on Friday, unlike our young MRR'ers who are out of school.
Take care, and see you later!
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!! THEN APRIL VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Morning from Tipton IN !

Evening gang,
Just drove the golden spike in the third mainline (that only took 3 months). I haven't added up the total mainline run yet. Dale (A friend from work) and his son Alex (7 years old) are coming over in the morning to run trains and help make some trees. They might need to help solder leads to the track.
Went to the LHS today to pick up another truss bridge and some track bumpers.
Ok time for a shower, sleep and then more work on the layout. I'll need to go back to work just to rest up!

Just stop by for a Leaping Horses Merlot before heading off to bed. Ahhh, Sue my girl, too much time on my hands,.....well, that is what retirement means, although Lorraine had me moving shrubs and bushes all day, and digging up 5 year old Burning Bushes is no walk in the park, those root structures are a bear to get loose, and so is the Rose of Sharon trees. All toll, 5 moved to new locations today. That is what you call " savage amusement" !
Then you will be happy to know that I watched a taped show of "Axe Men" on the History Channel from last Sunday night...they are all your neighbors from western Oregon. Four logging companies trying to make a living in some really rough mountainous terrain cutting huge trees and hauling them up steep ravines to logging trucks. What a tough and dangerous job that is, over 100 men are killed each year in logging accidents and I can see why.
DAVID: The schools here have Spring vacation next week, did you have your week off already?
Bon Soir mais amis,
I thought that I would stop by for my evening RBF, Chloe.
Dick has way too much time on his hands.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good night guys. I have school tomorrow so I have to get my rest, then it is a three day weekend. YAHOO!
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Evenig Gang: I went out to Clark Gardens today and picked up the track. Mr. Clark is insisting on giving me something for doing the train show so he's going to give Mary Ann and I a night's stay at the Gayloard Inn on Lake Grapevine. A very swank place. I keep telling that it's not necessary but if it makes him happy. After I got back I went over to the track and loaded a train with stuff to work on the track at West Fork. There wasn't time to get anything done but I got everything in position for tomorrow. On the way out and back I had 3 derailments. So that's 3 more places in the track that will have to be checked out.
Rob that locomotive looks like one of the ones Argent Lumber down south used. They were running into the 60's I think.
Pink Cows? Mary Ann is still burning over that. They have fadded out so I hope that Fergie has returned that Lancaster.
Well I'm going to head for bed.
Good Night All
A tall cool glass of water, thanks!
My replacement power supply for my computer arrived today. Unfortunately, it did not have enough connections to hook up all my hardware. So, when I e-mailed newegg for a ROM#, they responded with a "refund" to my account & "just keep it". WOW, now THAT is service. They have won me over as a future customer. Now I just need to figure out how to use it like Jeffrey does to control layout lighting!?! And Jeffrey, do you also use your PS for switches?
So far, 4Nscale place has not responded to either of my e-mails!?! I do not take that as a good sign, unless their Internet or e-mail service is down. If anyone knows a "trusted" online store that has an N Atlas Shay available & accepts Paypal, please let me know. Think I'm ready to bite and pick one up now.
Well, I'm beyond tired so "Good Night". Rob
I got a better one for you:
This Friday: 1/2 day. Prom Preview Day. Teachers dress up in drag and try to sing modern music.
Next Friday: Flex Day, no school. Botcon in Cinncy Ohio. Anyone know of good layouts around Cinncy open on Saturday or Sunday?

***NittanyLion, sounds like a nice haul there and those cars look sharp!
Well, been trying different arrangements on my little 37" x 81" door layout and feeling like it is almost hopeless to work in a mountain, which I REALLY want to have. Also realize I am going to need more track and not just switches. Coming up with a plan that works could take awhile. And as for the Bigboy idea, probably the only part of the layout it could run on would be the outer-most loop. Gurrrr!
After a few months of talking about it, my family decided to throw me into the pool. Last monday was my birthday and my brother and sister-in-law gave me:
They also gave me a book I kept almost buying myself (Rails to Penn State, about the Bellefonte Central in Centre County PA). My brother additionally tracked down something special. After hearing my complains about kits being harder to find and undecorated kits even harder, he found an undecorated three bay hopper kit for me. Even though I'd be building a modern day layout, my sorta-prototype still has vast fleets of the things (a few still sport the remains of their original Rock Island blue). Got a subscription to MR from my father too.
There's the other five of those RD4 hoppers. I dug out the track that goes under the Christmas tree because I wanted to play with them. So I guess I'm actually back in the game now. On one hand, there's the part of your brain thats like "well, these don't really go with the layout I was planning" but that's not to say that I'm not grateful. If I eliminate the toy train rolling stock that's still in the boxes of my stuff from my younger years and the damaged beyond repair Athearn, MDC, and Walthers kits the seven hoppers I got on friday constitute a third of my fleet now. And another third of that fleet doesnt really work for a 30"x10' switching layout. So on the other hand, this could force me to actually focus a on planning more.
Hey Dick, thanks for the offer....but I found this one that might work for next years tax time....
Notice the hue...
BTW, I like your new avatar!
Good afternoon gents, a little late getting in for lunch, it is so nice out that I lost track of time. Already up to 60F at 1pm, so we will hit about 65F by 5pm
I see the upper Ohio Valley is having flood problems with rivers at max and more showers coming with two storms.....what a Spring these folks are having. The Weather Channel did piece on their flooding this noontime.
JEFF: No cutting grass here for another month yet, and I don't mind one bit. BTW, did you see where Intermountain is coming out with FP9's this month? It has been a long time since anyone produced an FP"9". Plenty of FP7's.
See you guys at Suppertime.
I'm not having any problem with Photobucket. Just uploaded a photo like I do everyday.
Been out cutting the grass. It could have probably waited a bit but the forecast for Friday is rain. I wasn't taking any chances. If it gets too far ahead of me it'll be a real bear to cut.
