Good morning everyone, another clear day here today, in fact, it looks like great weather all the way to next Monday before showers arrive again. 55F here now at 10am after a low of 32F overnight, not bad for April 16th. Class 4 fire danger today with highs in 60's and low humidity, winds from the NW at 10mph backing around to the SW by afternoon.

RYAN: I just threw away an old toilet seat, I wish you had told me earlier before your taxes were sent in! LOL

JIM: Nope, that was indeed for RT, after reading about his amount due after early IRA withdrawal, I figured this was a perfect way to pay them back. Of course he could also ask for a Pentagon Credit Card......like the young woman that just bought all sorts of "personal" items with our tax dollars...thousands of dollars worth illegally.

Hmmm, what is all this pink  coloring in the Diner, was Fergie in here this morning ?? Man he gets up early !!! Lisa has him out in the yard before dawn I think.

See you guys at lunch... Jeff, paint that loco the new scheme !!

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you.

Thanks Lee & Kevin. To have collected the real thing, now that must have been fun. Checked out the Edaville site http://members.cox.net/edaville-rr/index.html and along with some History of the place, there are some wonderful photos under the postcards link. The Inspection card (page #16) is a hoot. Would be interesting to model one of those, but not in N scale. Also among the pics is the Flying Yankee, old autos, horse drawn fire fighting equip, and assorted trains. Fun stuff!

Good Morning, Zoe - just a go cup for me, please. Thank you!

Umm, Dick - is that a copy of the letter you sent in with your tax return this year? Wink [;)] I'd probably go with RT - don't know that I'd really mess(tm) with them Revenooers... Whistling [:-^]

RT, fingerprint them all over the SC office. Tell 'em time's a wasting, and you're ready to get to w**k. Yeah!! [yeah]

Ryan, now that you mention 'pink', that does bring to mind... let's see, a pink house and pink cows, somewhere in Texas if I recall correctly...Laugh [(-D] Amazing what a fella can do with a nice Lancaster, huh? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Warming up here again today, and supposed to reach 70 F. Didn't get as cold last night (upper 30's), and I'm happy with that!

I'd best go - my 9:00 client will be here shortly. First client to inform that they'll be transferring to another therapist. Sigh [sigh] No offense if there are any in the Diner, but Censored [censored] bean-counters! [rant]

Blessings and a warm day,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Rob

Eda ville railroad was a tourist RR in Mass. the gentleman that ran it bought some of the narrow gauge stuff from Maine, I believe that the Sandy River RR last engine went there. When it closed some of the narrow gauge stuff went back to Portland Me. Narrow Gauge RR Mueseum. It was located near the Cranbery bogs in Mass

Glad to hear your wife is doing better PC.

Morning folks!

I can support Jeff's claim on the 42 F feeling cold in Louisiana. With the high humidity typically at 100% year round, and when the cold temps arrive you feel it go straight to the bone! For some reason 30 F in Louisiana feels much colder than 30 F in the northern climates, high humidity makes a difference.

Hey Dick, I love your letter to the IRS. I would even throw in a dozen toilet seats to keep my balance in "High Cotton" for a few years! Whistling [:-^]

So what's for lunch today? Dinner [dinner]

Did you all notice that I posted my TOPS notification in "Hot Pink" yesterday? That was in honor of one of our old timers who used to frequent the Diner, Fergie mentioned him a few days ago!

Good morning all,

Rob, it was (is) a tourist railroad opened in 1947 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edaville_Railroad

There are several websites about it if you Google the name of the railroad.

Looks like the weather is going to be decent all of a sudden!  We may just remain in the 60's all week.  I'm not sure what happened but the grass is looking really good and needs cut badly, so I might take some time off to take care of that today.

I haven't seen ED around, did we run out of oranges????

Found this old photo of a long deceased Aunt of mine. Have no idea where or even when it was taken. On the tender is says: "EDAVILLE RAILROAD". Anyone have any idea? Sure is a pretty little steamer, I think.

Evening,

Jerry, yes they are the china group wehonest.  $2 for 100 people is a great deal.  I wouldn't want to try painting N-Scale people, LOL.  I hear from a friend their street lights are very nice as well.  If they sold track signals I'd be all over it.

Dear Internal Revenue Service:

Enclosed you will find my 2008 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes.

Please note the attached article from the USA Today newspaper; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Pentagon (Department of Defense) is paying $171.50 per hammer and NASA has paid $600.00 per toilet seat.

I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Home Depot, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00.

Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to the "Presidential Election Fund," as noted on my return.

You can do this inexpensively by sending them one 1.5" Phillips Head screw (see aforementioned article from USA Today newspaper detailing how H.U.D. pays $22.00 each for 1.5" Phillips Head Screws).

One screw is enclosed for your convenience.

It has been a pleasure to pay my tax bill this year, and I look forward to paying it again next year.

Sincerely, RT

A Satisfied Taxpayer

How is this letter RT, does it solve your problem?

Nothin personal you see but I believe I'll stick to the letter I drew up and the check I'm sending I really don't look good in stripes but thank-you anyway

Evenin' Chloe - Since Ryan's the 'lucky dog' tonight, I'll just have the steak part of that surf'n'turf that I hear Jeff wolfed down. You can toss the surf part to Jeff. Just don't get too close, so you don't lose a hand... Whistling [:-^]

Gav, you and Johnboy better quit bragging on your weather, or everyone else will want to move your way for all that outdoor fun! Rob, I sure hope your wife doesn't know how to get to the Diner. Shock [:O] Hope you have fun sneaking all that MRR stuff into the house while she's gone!

PC, good to hear the news about your wife and your son. Hope things continue healing up like that! Cool [8D]

Jeff, you could probably do that new KCS paint scheme - you just need some masking tape and paper to get the areas painted. Thumbs Up [tup]

Well, I got told today by our clinical director that I'm pretty much off of seeing clients for therapy (and back on handling crisis and walk-in clinic, with all the very unscheduled-ness of that) until I get my exam and licensure out of the way so they can get me on boards for the various insurance companies. Sigh [sigh] Hard part is, I have to transfer my clients over to someone else now. Ah, pooh...! Need to remind myself that this is temporary until I can get things taken care of. Just don't want clients thinking they've been dumped/passed along.

Hi Duke, OzJim! Good to see both of you again. OzJim, have fun with all that room.

Better get to my steak so I can get back home to bed at a decent hour. I'll see you all in the morning.

Blessings and prayers,

Evening Gang: I see that an emergency exorcisum for OZ is needed. It seems that he has secumbed to the dark side. Really good to see you back OZjim.

Dick I thought that engineering challanges were a great part of the hobby.

Nothing new since this afternoon. Mary Ann just climed into bed so I think that I'll join her. It's early but I didn't sleep through last night so I'm tired. I have to go back out to Clark Gardens tomorrow and pick up the track. There wasn't room on the trailer for it today. Actually there was space but I didn't want to take the chance of the track panels shifting and damaging one of my locomotives.

Gday all, posting from work, as I still cant from home :S

I got my N scale GP38-2 last sunday, its BN Proto model. I  also picked up 4x atlas trainman 2 bay hoppers for $12 each.

I'm fairly certain where I want to model :) I would like to model the Tehachapi loop and then some industries on the other walls. If I was in HO scale I couldnt do this! the layout will be around the walls (4) so I will have plenty of room, now I just have to come up with a plan...Big Smile [:D]Whistling [:-^]

Hi Gang: I just got in from unloading the equipment at the track. Even with the new transfere table it took 1 hour 45 minutes. Tomorrow I may get over there to help Terry out a bit. There is a switch out at West Fork that needs attention badly.

Jerry the hoppers looked real good. Nice job.

Well I am going to head out. I'll stop in later.

Haven't been in much lately, as I have been very busy at work. 14 days out of 18, boy I have to do something about that. It doesn't seem like retirement to me.

Going to lay off the computer a little as between outside work now and some modelling I won't have much time for this. other than to squeeze in an odd note from work.

Will check back in from time to time, always interested in what you guys and gals are up to.

Continued best wishes and prayers for all in need. It sure sounds like our ailing friends are healing up fine and that is wonderful.

I finally got the mystery Alco ID'd. It's an RSC-3. The trucks and body details match to a T. As for who makes it, that's still a mystery. It looks like a Kato drive but I don't they Kato made any RSC-3's.

Good afternoon everyone.....clear skies today and the temp is now up to 54F after a low of 24F at dawn. Moderate fire danger today according to fire tower report on scanner. It looks like the entire week is going to be clear, that will bring the leaves out of bud in a hurry.

Our bowling team took all 8 points last night, so we landed in 3rd place for $$, LHS here we come!

Did you guys see where Intermountain has come out with FP9's ???? !!!!!! And the CN/CP numbering is the same for a couple of the Conway Scenic RR of NH that I am modeling, so I will snap one or two of those up in a hurry.

As soon as I draw a layout of the lower level of the house, I will post it here for some ideas from all of you. Some of the brightest and creative minds are in this Diner. Duke has posed an interesting suggestion....run a line from the new room to the existing train room. But the new room is in the SE corner of the lower level and the train room is in the far NW corner under the "L" addition. This would be one hellava engineering feat, so much so that it would make MRR magazine for sure if I could pull it off. Suspended ceiling has only 4" of height below the joists. Or, do I run a wall line about 4' off the wall going through walls ( tunnels ) and then somehow into the "L" ( through an existing door? ) Then, somehow getting across the utility room, and boring a hole through the 10" wall to get into the train room. OR, run the line OUTSIDE the house along the siding at the back of the house at sill level. This would eleiminate all the obstruction inside, but this would entail handling rather sharp curves to ( 90 degrees ) in three locations, and somehow getting approvals from wife. Maybe using the covered tracks for planters on top? What do you think Fergie ? Of course I could always go underground also, but now I would have to make it hermetically sealed, but curves would be eliminated and the run would be the shortest.

JEFF: Listen...I "know" you can paint one of your locos with that new paint scheme, we have all seen your work, go for it Jeff !!! Those locos are real sharp in those colors. You can do it !

FERGIE: How does that old song go now....."Mary Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow. With silver bells and blue bells and millions of #$#%$ weeds" LOL  I hear that 30" radius is being planned for the MESS???

Later guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !!
