Good Morning from Tipton IN !
Bill Tidler Jr.
Near a cornfield in Indiana...
Evening folks-just a quick coffee before bed.
Phillip-glad you made it thru unscathed & hope you stay that way! I've been monitoring the weather here on & off all nite, & see the leading edge of the mess is almost here. They just issued a tornado watch to for the counties SW of here, but not us so far. I'm "up" on the weather situation, & we have a good bunch of tornado sirens here in town, so we should be good.
Better hit it-nite all!

We just had some NASTY storms pass through here! A tornado passed about a mile south of here, and we had golf ball sized hail. We also had straightline winds of 70mph. The local weather station had over 8000 cloud to ground lightning hits in a half an hour (!!!), and most of the lightning was cloud to cloud! You could've stood by a window (not advisable) and read the paper with the lights off at 11:00pm! We lost power three times too. So far I can see that our huge tent is ancient history, as is most of our lawn furniture. I'll wait till morning to see if there's any damage to the house itself since the weather is still a bit "unfriendly" out there.
Oh well, I'm off to watch the skies as the next wave is about to roll in!
Evening Gang: The base board project was going well untill 30 minutes ago. I had gotton a new filter for the vac that I have hooked up to the router table. I got one piece of base run through and was on the second when I smelled that smell that says a motor is cooking. I hoped that it wasn't the router ( a good Porter Cable ) and finished the run. When I turned off the vac I knew that it was the clupret. Since I got it for nothing several years ago it wasn't a great loss. Tomorrow I'll get a new one. I wounder if Sears will give me a refund on the filter? One can try. So that's how the trim job is going Jim.
We found a crack in one of the new tiles today. I called the fellow that did the install and he's coming by Monday to take care of it. According to Hardy Backer there should be an expansion joint when there is an "L" change in the room. He didn't put one in where the crack is. It runs through the tile and across the grout joint to the opposite wall. I guess the pros need to read the instructions.
Needless to say no MRRing today. Unless you count taking a bit to read some of the new MR. Daisy the dog is in bed, Mary Ann is getting ready for bed and I still have to do the eyedrop thing.
I'll be back tomorrow.
Good Night All
-Morgan

Wow what a day....I am beat!!! I am so dry ...I'll take TWO root beer floats...quick Zoe before I pass out from dehydration. I tried to roll the huge boulder that I dug out of the yard, but that was an exercise in futility because it had two very flat surfaces. So, being alone this afternoon, I decided to use my son's old GTO hood that I kept for this very use. I sprayed the shiny side with Sears lawn mower bed "no stick" for grass, then used a crow bar to get the boulder onto the backside of the hood. I tried using the lawn tractor in low gear to pull it...no go, not enough weight on the rear wheels. Soooooo, it was time to use the Explorer. That worked like a charm, and I pulled the stone right to the waterfall construction area in the back yard.
JERRY: Where is everyone? Just you and I in the Diner. But...it "is" Friday night and most of the guys are out "howling" at the moon.
JEFF: I guess you are still working on that check list for today.....I hope you got to the LHS though.
CAPE JIM: I would be quite surprised if any 401K admins engaged in Futures Trading. That is VERY risky business, you can lose your shirt if you don't know what your doing, and even those that "do" have experience los big time at times. Options and Futures are NOT for 401K's. The best things to invest in right now are Commodities. Gold, Silver, Tin, Copper, Aluminum, etc, oil, gas, fertilizer, etc. Just look at MOS, MON, POT for instance, check their graph for the past year or two...amassing !! China is buying all the fertilizer it can get it's hands on from Canada.
Later,
B.....U.......M.....P.....Where is everbody?.....Jerry
Afternoon, Zoe -I'll have a root beer float, please.
Thanks! And thank PC when he stops in, since he's covering the tab.
Not a lot more going on for me today - my 11:00 didn't show up, and I had one phone call since then. Everybody else must be outside enjoying the weather before the rain gets here tonight, I suppose.
I've been working some on a lesson on financial matters for our next section in the singles group. Definite example of 'Do as I say, and not as I did in the past...' or like Dick's signature that he uses. Never can tell, I may learn as much in preparing the lessons as the rest of the group.
Looks like it's been quiet in the Diner today - not a lot of people in (except for Duke, snoring in the back booth - I'll try not to wake him up). He's almost louder than the jukebox is...
Want to get a bit more MRR'ing stuff done over the weekend, after I get the lesson for next weekend ready. Got wiring to do, that kitbashed Roberts Printing building to finish up the basic walls and structure, and a few hundred other projects I wouldn't mind getting some w**k done on...
But for now, I'm going to sit down and get a start on the RBF.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good Morning. What? It;s afternoon? But I just got up! Don't listen to Ferg, he's just truying to sucker out of a tab. Your the first flreshies to not get stuck unknowingly with TOP honors in a while. Record is 5 pages in a row. Just so you know. Also, we usually change to a new diner between now and 150 pages. Mods don't like us killing the server. Go figure.
Since last I was in, I';ve managed to poke a few more holes in my Trackmobile. Most of them I want. lights look good in her, and I haven't even gotten them powered yet.
Good Morning All...Its sunny windy and warmer today we turned the A/C on for the first time as the caregiver is doing some cooking for the week-end....I'll have a diet Coke please...Thank You...Got decals on one side of NKP outside braced box car..I taped the decal sheet to some cardboard and hit it with some Mat medium spray and it worked the old decals held together and didn't go to pieces..I wish I would have tryed that when I decaled the NKP caboose..
JR..I wish I could figure out how to work in a off line storage area...I could cut a whole where I have the mirror but tracks would have to fold down[or maybe up] when not in use..I have also thought about a upper level where my sliding work table is now but it would have to be a pretty stiff grade to get up there..
You all have a good one...Jerry
Morning everyone:
Another balmy day here in SunnyCal--supposed to be a little warmer here in the Valley today--high 70's, low '80's. That Low front that's been keeping us civilised is supposed to head East the next couple of days (get ready for thunderstorms in Colorado, you guys) and be replaced with a High that should have us in the mid-90's by next weekend. I KNEW it was too good to last, LOL!
Luc: Loved those song titles. I RESEMBLE some of them. Funniest for me: FIFTY WAYS TO LOSE YOUR LIVER. Guess I'll have to stop digging into the Communion wine, LOL!
George: Welcome to the diner--the food's really good and there's LOTS of it. If you're feeling brave, have Zoe whip up one of her Cornish Pasties for you--you'll be eating it for days!
John: Still laughing about the Catholic gasoline. Gonna try that one on my very cool buddy Sr. Margie down at St. Francis this weekend after Mass. She'll get a HUGE kick out of it! I'd tell you one that she told me a couple of weeks ago about some midgets at a Monastery but I think the moderators would delete it. Yup, it's THAT kind of Catholic Joke.
Well, got some bad news and good news yesterday. My other Train Cat Lowell has been acting kind of listless and drinking a lot of water lately, so I took him to the vet for a checkup. Seems that Lowell only has about 80% of his kidney function (he's 15). This is the gray Maine Coon who listens to Mahler a lot and likes his catnip smuggled in from Santa Cruz. That's the bad news, the good news is that with proper medication, he should live out the rest of his years in comfort (Maine Coons usually live to about 20 or so). So, new diet, meds, an occasional trip to the vet to get re-hydrated--the bit. Hope it all works, he's such a mellow little guy and a real buddy.
Well, time to go out and continue my re-forestation project. Those hills are starting to look nice and green, by Golly.
Have a great day, all.
Tom

Good Morning, Zoe - yes, I'm sorry I didn't stop by yesterday afternoon or evening. I'll try to get by more often. (Did the others' tips make up for what I wasn't here to chip in? ) I'll have a cup of the TH and some of the breakfast buffet, plus a cinnamon roll, please. Thanks!
CN Charlie, you raised a good point - why haven't you & your wife entered the yard in the neighborhood beautification contest? Sounds like she does a great job on the yard (photos later to be posted?...)
BridgeTom, that sounds like one great day with your former students - and even more amazing that the Big Engineer kept the trains from derailing or messing (TM) up. I'd say they must have learned a few things from your tutelage. Now, if your creeper bridge will arrive from MicroMark, you'll be on top of everything, huh?
Looks like Fergie is a bobbin' on the briney seas, with all that ice. Hope you get calmer seas on the way back home, Fergie.
Rob, good that you (finally!) found TinyToons' lost shoe. I don't think she'd like that pink color, and besides, it'd probably wear off as she was walking all over the meadows on it.
Without starting up anything, one thing about the oil futures is that those of us with retirement/401(k)/mutual funds may also be contributing to the problem, as the people directing those funds love it when oil futures go up. If they'd invest in something other than the oil futures, we could afford to drive (now and when we retire, for us non-ORF's)... My - and yes, I know there are other oil futures speculators
out there who also aggravate the price problems....
Paul, how's the eye going? To track your drops, you could mark on each week "drops - 2/day" or whatever the dosage is supposed to be, to help you keep track of the number for that week. How's the house trim coming along?
Way to go, RailroadNut675 - that is awesome work on the SAT (now, just keep your grades up, and you may get some nice scholarships for college on top of those honors).
JR, I will be for things to get settled as is best for your whole family in all that house biz with the adjustor crew. I know the smell of wood smoke is bad enough in a building (and much of any stuff that was in the building - had a fire years ago in the same block as my photo studio and some stuff years later still had some of the smell if you were close enough). I'd second the comments about smoke cleanup places - but get recommendations from others who've used them before you sign up with one.
Inch, that serves that leprechaun right. Good joke!
PC, that Vette looks the right color for this year's Chevys! A few months back, I pitched a slot car that I had built (from clear plastic shell kit), but hadn't run in quite a while. I think (if memory serves me right) that it was a Cobra in blue with white racing stripe.
Jeff, on those WS people at Hobby Lobby, remember to check the HL website to see what their coupon is - it might be one of those "40 percent off one item" ones! The park's looking very good. Will they have a softball diamond added in one corner?
RT, great to hear you're up and running at the new job (and moved in). Will look forward to hearing more when you get the time.
to the Diner,K4Driver! Fill us in about your layout (photos are welcome, too!). Which wood kit do you have? Older Campbell kit, or something else?
Johnboy, cute joke! Go for those brownie points with the CFO.
And to the Diner, George! I see some of the others already greeted you. So, do you have any paycheck left, with working in the LHS? I probably would be too tempted if I was in one 8 hours a day... Oh, don't know if the others warned you or not about getting the TOP (top of the page) - since you're new here, we won't give you the bill. Usual is, if you get TOP, you get to buy the (virtual) food and beverages for that page. So we'll just let PC cover it, since he volunteered...
Colby, best wishes on the lifeguard job - you should be able to manage that, I'm sure!
Luc, good to see you in again, and those lyrics are funny!
Well, my 11:00 is probably here, and I need to go check. Will be back later today.

It was fun being a baby boomer... until now. Some of the artists of the 60's are revising their hits with new lyrics to accommodate aging baby Boomers. They include:Herman's Hermits--- Mrs.. Good morning
Good morning...... another sunny day, completely clear skies, 66F and RH of 41%. But we have a LOW headed to the far west of NY that will drag a warm front up tonight along with showers off and on over the weekend.
MRR: Still working on xcel spreadsheet for Locomotives vs size speakers and decoders needed. I also haven't received a call yet from my LHS regarding ME weathered Code 83 track and turnouts that I ordered. Everything is back-ordered these days.
R.T. : I certainly hope you don't have to wait 6 months to get back into your home. Hopefully things will kick into high gear next week after this short holiday week. Are you familiar with the train station in Canaan, CT? If so, I saw a laser kit of that train station at Tucker's Hobbies in Warren, Ma that was absolutely stunning! I was at that station two weeks ago as part of a railfan trip. What a beautiful job that kit is.
FERGIE: That is really interesting regarding the rise in cold water pool temp up there. That has major implications for weather pattern changes. Are you home for the entire summer when you pull into port? Better keep an eye on that "coon"....if it gets into your Veggie garden it can do a lot of damage in one night.
GEORGE: Welcome to the Diner George......
GARRY: A Pharoh huh.......I think not. Although these boulders are huge, they don't compare to those babies. I am going to try to move then this morning by rolling them into the dump cart hooked to the lawn tractor. If I cannot get them into the trailor, or get the trailor back upright after they are loaded, then it is plan "B", which is to roll them onto an old car hood and drag the hood with the lawn tractor, or our Explorer if need be.
COLBY: Good luck to you on summer job as life guard. If that fails, maybe you can get a job on the RR as a guard to keep kids off the tracks. I can't believe what happened yesterday when those two young girls, up your way in Maine, skipped school, and were sun bathing on the tracks with their feet on the tracks. The 13 year old lost her leg at the knee and the 14 year old lost her foot. They were not on drugs, nor did they have headphones on their head. The horns were sounded, and the freight train was only doing 30. I can't figure kids out any more. The engineer was a mess, as well I can believe.
Time to get going outside, see you guys at lunch.
hey guys!
well I got a job interview to day at 3:15pm est for a liveguard position for the reck Dept. I hope that I'll get the job cause I need some $$ for the layout fund. :)
Have a good day all!
Mornin' all!
Welcome to the diner George. Folks 'round here just call me PC. Hey, word of warning......it's customary for the one who hits the top of the page to have to buy the virtual food for everyone on the page with their virtual money. Chloe and Zoe, the virtual twins are the waitresses around here and they can whip up literally ANYTHING you want to eat. Since you're the new guy and all, I'll buy this page for ya! Oh, and hey, what kind of car you have there? There's lots of car guys on the forum!
Hear that everyone? Time for you all to come out of the woodwork! I'm buying!
J.R., sadly, no progress in a long time. The rails are dusty. Since I work for the phone company, this is the busy season, what with construction and all. I've been working 80 and 90 hours a week for a few months now. Can't wait to quit this job sometimes! So what kinds of models are you into? I'll bet it's the racing cars like at the shop. Hey, PM me with your address please. I have something for you!
Good Morning All,
A regular and a toasted blueberry muffin please Zoe. 50's and sunny just now and the high is predicted at 80 with rain showers tomorrow. Welcome George - what kind of show car? I do vintage race cars and there are a bunch of other car guys that drop in here also (sort of a multi talented/ multi tasking bunch).
Jeff - the park is really coming along nicely. Good luck at Hobby Lobby with the "little peeps".
Jerry - gotta watch that ice cream - don't wanta lose that figure - no? The layout keeps getting better all the time - the passenger cars add a lot. Can you sneak a hidden staging yard underneath that youc can access with a tunnel? Just a thought.
Fergie - watch out for those bergs out there. Maybe you can scale up that crane and move them out of the way. Hope you get calmer seas for a while.
Dick - if you keep moving those big rocks we'll have to start calling you Pharowh.
Tom - between the accolades and job offers, you must be a really special teacher. It must be gratifiying to be recognized after all the years of service.
PC - any layout progress? How about your son and CFO - how are they doing?
RT - good going getting settled. Your patience was finally rewarded and perhaps now you can get some stuff set up and get back to some model railroading. Any room for a layout yet?
We're settling into a routine now, work all day - go over to the house in the evening and move out the boxes packed during the day by the Mitigation crew as they move through the house cleaning. Most of the first floor is gutted now where it got wet. We hope to get the adjustor to go through the pile of our stuff that burned and is on the back lawn so they can inventory it but they've been unable to get anyone over to empty the debris dumpster as it's a short work week and the refuse company is running behind schedule. I have o idea how we're going to set values on stuff like the unbuilt model collection (mostly MPC, Revell, and Moogram - the Tamiya stuff was here at work including the 1/12th scale F-1 cars)We might have found a rental last night as we wait for the insurance company to approve the paperwork for it. They are now saying we might be out of the house for as long as six months and it's important for us to get the family back under one roof. Probably I'll just board up the train room as there is so little damage to it that I can fix it myself (i did all the ceilings and floor in the train room myself anyway). So much for now, I'll try to check in later when I order pizza for lunch. J.R.

More Bergs than I care to think about, We cruise at under 6 knots in fog and ice. Saying that the ship cleared the Straits of Belle this morning and from the ice charts it looks clear all the way home (famous last words). Speaking of the North Atlantic Oscillation the scientists tell me there was a mqjor event in the Labrador Sea this past winter as the Cold water in the core spilled out into the surrounding area. The Labrador Current has also been rising .8 Celcius / year over the last 3 years. So I suspect once we get back into port they will be pouring over the data. I should be safe during the height of the Hurricane season as I'll be up in Davis Strait all of September. Speaking of Varmits I guess Lisa saw a rather large Racoon saunter through the Back Neighbours yard the other night and Miss Molly was going wild!
George! The 1st one is always on the new guy so... THANKS!
So Lee: Dutch Harbour? I've been watching deadliest catch lately (absolute nuts!) And I've also been watching the NOAA North American Wx Maps. All I can say better her than over there! (Alaska) Lots of big nasty Lows this time of year.
Anyway more reports to file
