Evening all!
Tough day, but it's better now. Seems the pain meds are upsetting my boy's stomach and constipating him. They gave him a laxative that is helping. While he was taking a nap earlier I snuck around the room hiding Easter eggs. He woke up to and Easter egg hunt that he could do from his bed. Made his day!

Thanks. The trees in the foreground are Aggro trees. The ones behind the log bridge are butterfly bushes. I was trying for the caved-in look on the riverbed. Since the flooding in December, there are lots of examples locally.
How is your club layout going? How many times a week do you meet?

My club meets every Mon and Thur. A few of the more active (actual workers) like to meet on Wed and Sat. It's amazing how much more is accomplished when you don't have a gathering of members in the "bleachers" watching and throwing their 2cents in. I guess it's like any group or organization 1 worker, 2 onlookers, 2 wanting to learn and 1 telling you how it should be done. None of this ever bothers me. I am totally used to working under scrutiny, I can block out anything when I'm on a roll. But it's a great group of guys. We do have a nice layout and a lot of fun with it.
I really believe I'm ready to jump back into the swing of things, the benchwork crew has been flying on a new peninsula. There's a ton of scenery to do.
Tommorow evening my daughter wants to come to the club and try some new techniques. It's a work night and no trains run 'til after 10pm. I may do some static displays if she wants. We'll be experimenting w/ her new D200. All her first shots were handheld just clicking away. She needs the refined in the action/ scenery. This time instaed of running trains through the scenes, maybe I can learn how to set up the shots.
I still need to get some copies of pics taken at our show last week. I caused an unbelievable wreck. One of the most sensational ones the club has had. Details will come with the pics. For some reason I can't figure why no one wants to run ahead of me. Dah

That will save you time over the long haul in any job!). Good to hear your girlfriend is okay with the work 'schedule' (or sort-of-schedule), too. Played Vigil last night--8:00 to 12:00. Yup, it was as long as I thought it was going to be. 23 confirmations, 10 had to be Baptized (the rest were former Episcopalians, LOL!). That's a lot of verses of "Come To The River."
At least it wasn't babies, this time. The last baptism I played a couple of months ago, one of the little dears got all excited and peed in the Font. Kind of stopped the show, it did!
Oh, and yes, I-5, the minute I got home, I ate the chocolate bunny's ears, LOL!
Played 11:00 Mass today--packed to the rafters, of course. Then took off to my home town to bring back my 93-year old mother who is staying with me until her house gets re-wired. Seems that the City decided to 'annex' our property, so I found out that our 80+ year wiring needs to be brought up to grade. Oh, well--funny thing, for the last 158 years, our property has been right ON the city limits, and we were always asking to be included, but the city Council always told us that the original City Charter forbade extending the city limits in Perpetuity. Of course now, when we could care less, the city suddenly needs a new tax base, so they're annexing an entire section--our property and about ten other 'county' neighbors. I get to go back up next Friday to the city council meeting and find out further details. Knowing my home town, all I can say--and please pardon me for saying this--is that if they're going to bend me over, they'd better learn how to kiss me, too. End of rant.
I see it's gotten a little dicey on the rest of the forum again--think I'll just stay off and let the children fight. Too bad.
PC: Did your son find all of the Easter eggs? I sure hope that new medication keeps his stomach quiet--nausea is just not fun! And you take care of yourself, too. Keep us posted.
Well, g'nite all--got to spend some time entertaining mother--which means finding every channel on satellite TV that carries "The Golden Girls.' Hey, it could be a lot worse--she could be a Soap Opera freak, LOL!

Serously, I just got home and I'm headed to bed. My son needed dad there tonight! We had take care of a few personal things (he was too embarressed to have the nurses or mom help), but he's feeling a lot better now. He's finally getting more comfortable. We aren't out of the woods yet, but we can see the edge of it I think!
Now if you don't mind, I'm going to bed!
P.S. - Only one egg gave him any real trouble. Can't make them all easy ya know!

Not much tonight. Both printers will not print color and my daughter needs to print out her resume in color. I guess tomorrow we'll go to Office Max and get them to do it. My printer is just old and really needs to be replaced. Mary Ann's is out of color ink.

Worship was super this morning, everyone (congregation, choir and the vocal team) was 'in the Spirit', the choir even got some compliments, and God is awesome (of course)! Even my car's antics didn't faze me much at all.
Jerry, I may have spoken a little soon about my car - Saturday night, as I was on my way somewhere, the seat belt light on the dash goes on, and a chime goes off (for several seconds, then - thank Heaven! - quits). Also, the 'airbag' (manual for the car says it's also for the passive restraint, so I'm guessing it's connected somehow to the seat belt retracter in the post) light goes on, and another chime goes for a few seconds. These periodically come back... (Likely due to humidity in the car - but we don't have any warm and dry weather predicted soon) Talked with the guy who got the car cleaned up for me, and he said there's a lot of padding (I guess he meant the seat cushion or the carpet instead of me ), and it may take a while for that to get dried out. I also asked if there was a way to pull a connector or a fuse in the short term, until I can afford to get it fixed. He said he knew of one time where the same fuse controlled the headlights and the chime/alarm. Ah, well, the car still drives fine and beats walking...

GoofyMike01. You kind of lucked out, as we have a handful of our Diners who are stricken with insomnia lately. Most of the time in the wee hours, you'll have our virtual server Chloe, and the Diner, by yourself until the early morning crew comes in. Sounds like you have a good RR history in your family. That should be helpful if you still have pics from when they were working, when you get that MRR outbuilding going.

When I was a youngin, I could doodle a track plan at the drop of a hat. Now I can't get a darn thing drawn up if I had to.
Last week, I went out to Ohio to visit my brother. Fairly heavy rail traffic where he lives. Saw a lot of NS power in his town and CSX when we drove down to near Akron on an errand. His town still has the old Pennsy station from back in the day, but the weather prevented me from going and taking pictures of it. And from going against my better judgement and measuring it when I shouldn't be nosing around anywhere near it in the first place. He's got some pictures but I forgot to get them from him. He's a airplane and armor model builder himself, but plans on building a diorama of the station some day.
Also took a day to drive out to Dayton to indulge one of my other hobbies and visited the USAF museum at Wright-Patterson. My brother had been trying to get me to go out there for a couple years now but its a really, really long drive. It was around four hours from his place and I used to live around five hours from where he lives, so you do the math. Not really a "there and back in one day" kinda thing. Pretty awesome collection they have there and I recommend it to anyone that's got even the tiniest passing interest in such things. Although I did like the US Navy's aviation museum, despite having a smaller collection of aircraft. Very glad I got a new camera last month. Would have been nicer if I had figured out how the thing works before I went though. Now that I came out for that, he better hold up to his end of the deal and drive out to Altoona with me in June.
Mom's trying to get everyone to go on vacation together this year. The whole family hasn't gone somewhere in a while and now the kids are all adults (mid 20s) so she wants to do something where we can go and do whatever we want. If that makes sense. I'm sure you, gentle reader, are already seeing that selecting a location for this is nearly impossible. I want to take Amtrak from Pittsburgh to Chicago ($134 round trip for one adult me vs 926 miles in a Honda Accord that gets 25 mpg with a 13 gallon tank working out to $130 in gas assuming an average price of $3.50/g tells me spend the $4 and not have to drive). Everyone is intrigued about the idea of taking the train somewhere, but I'm alone in my desire to see parts of Chicago that can't be viewed from O'Hare.

Evening folks-just a quick coffee before bed.
I know I haven't stopped in much lately, just trying to do too many things & neglecting some other things.
Mom & Dad are still OK-they've resumed their habit of bickering over silly petty things, but from what I understand from my co-workers that also have elderly parents, that is pretty much normal. (still hard for me to deal with & get used to when I'm over there though)
Everything here's pretty much ok though-after that heavy snowfall & then heavy rainfall, I'm pretty much ready for dry & WARM weather! I've been studying the ground & trees for green shoots & buds. It was so deceiving today-it looked like 60's & 70's out due to the sun but it was only in the 30's! I know it's not far off, but I'm overly itchy-maybe because of getting this house in September, & not really having a chance to do much outside before it got cold. (& also due to the fact my favorite months seasonwise are coming up, April-June. It does my heart good to see things get GREEN again!
Update on Dawn's job-well, the other place still hasn't said they need her yet, HOWEVER! she has FINALLY been promoted to a cook at her current job! She starts pretty much this week, & the pay is equal to the other job. (& more secure) &! there's a possibility (& I stress possibility) that come this summer I may get the chance for a better paying position where I work also. Our maintenance guy is retiring in June, his assistant is more than likely taking his place, & I may get the chance to get the assistant position. As far as I'm concerned that would be great, as I pretty much know (& do) 25-50% of what he does, only afternoon shift, but the hours would be early morning, & a hopefully (& needed) RAISE! The more I think about it, the more the idea appeals to me, as I'm getting very tired of working 1-9 PM & also dealing with the public. I'll have 26 years in there in June, & "hopefully" this may carry me thru to retirement within the next 10 years or so (knock on wood)
Model RR-wise, I'm still putting finishing touches on my latest weathered Railbox. I wanted it done by this weekend, but I keep finding things that need touch up. Oh well, maybe by next weekend I can post pics. In the meantime, I got out & got some proto pics today-& caught my 1st Railbox since last summer-she may be on the list for a future project:
I was able to get a lot of detail pics also, so we'll see what happens.

woot, I'm bored...
Did a little layout work. Mom found her Ace cutters, and I promptly stole them to go to some trackwork on the back side of the 4x8.
I nipped out this bit of homasote which held the track in an odd position, getting closer to the edge, so now the track is straight and it is in place. Once I did this, there was a gap in the tracks. Big enough to derail rolling stock, small enough so that fitter pieces wouldn't work. So I grabbed the cutters, some steel track (wish I had some nickel silver lying around) and cut a couple small pieces and put them in the rail joiners, then tightly clamped 'em in with the cutters.
Next I went about superelavating my curve on the left hand side of the layout. Basically I grabbed some WS riser stuff left over, and got some not-so-thick pieces and put them under the ties on one side, and ta-da, it's superelavated.
I haven't tried running trains over it just yet, but I will soon.
On other news, walthers is trying to tempt me. Union Pacific GP7 with sound, $130...
While I also have the choice of buying a new vandy tender for my mountain, and buying a couple decoders, one for my black widow GP9 and one for my big boy, and maybe some rolling stock.
I'll probably get at least the big boy's decoder (if it doesn't work so well with the one I've got sitting around from my mountain)
If it doesn't, I'll order the decoder, and wait and see if the price on that geep sticks around...
This is one huge post, lol...
Well, anything else I can say... hmmm... Oh yeah, I just looked on my tracking. Big boy came from Ithaca NY, to Erie PA, to Wilimington OH, then back to Erie... Gonna say, why the heck did it do that... It's gonna drive me nuts for a while... Maybe a typo?
