Good Afternoon Everyone!

Well although the diner was moved at least it wasn't hard to find the new location--just look down the tracks. The neon "Elliots" sign helps too.

First off I have to say that I'm really happy to hear PC's news. I've been following all that his wife and son have been going through and his great attitude is an inspiration. So to PC, I wish that your son has a speedy and full recovery and that he can now enjoy a full, happy future without the cloud of MD hanging over him.

Ryan, no need to apologize for the rant. We had a lot of coverage of Katrina at the time here but I have often wondered what happened afterwards. Now I have an idea. As far as today's menu goes, I think I would like to do a sampling, a little of everything starting from the top. I'm home all day and as it is only noon, I have all the time I need. I have to say that I really do like the menus from New Orleans!! And Ryan the low 30's isn't BRRR time, at least not here. My wife saw a couple of students at the Uni where she works in shorts!!

Jeff, I think its time to call in the railway police. Far too many suspicious characters lurking about by the tracks.

Jim, I hope the rain has let up in your neck of the woods. We don't get much coverage on the news here so when I leave the diner I plan on doing a little web surfing to find out what is going on.

Well I have to confess that I got up late today and haven't really done anything. My wife is still asleep as she said that she didn't go to to bed until 6 a.m. Apparently she couldn't sleep which is par for the course for her lately. I am starting to get worried about it as she is really getting run down. When I can make some noise I plan on doing a little with scenery on the layout. I have a couple of hills to put in. The foam has been sculpted and I hope to get the plaster stuff on them this afternoon.

Well time to get a coffee and just relax.

PC, you and your son will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.  We look forward to more good news from the PC household in the upcoming days!

A SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM EDT SATURDAY. A SNOW ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN 4 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED WITHIN 12 HOURS. NO SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS EXPECTED...BUT UNPLOWED ROADS WILL BE HAZARDOUS. IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION. STAY TUNED TO WEATHER RADIO OR OTHER RADIO AND TV STATIONS FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR UPDATES.

Jeff, I think your RR needs to invest in defect detectors ASAP!  This is the second derailment in 4 weeks?

No MRRing last night, however I did look over the mess in the basement; scraps of wood, sawdust, and almost every tool I own is laying about.  I think tonight I will clean up the area so I can lay some track on Saturday and share some pictures.

Good afternoon everyone.....not a cloud in the sky here today but the wind is ferocious. It started to blow yesterday afternoon and has not let up one bit, in fact the weather station shows the 10 minute average speed at 20 mph, and I have seen gusts at 37 mph. It sounds like a freight train that has no end. The temp is only 32F, so with 35 mph winds, the wind chill is below 0F!! I am not outside today.

And a point of interest for those who are concerned about Global Warming....Caribou, Maine has just broken their record for the snowiest Winter, set back in 1955, with over 180" of snow and they have blizzard conditions right now, so the record will be smashed, not just set.

PC: Your son will be off the tent soon.

DUKE: I see your Congressman wants to hike the gas tax by $0.50 a gallon. I think we have better all get a hybrid real soon, or a horse. I'm thinking about getting one of those battery powered mowers, as well as the old fashion reel mowers, you know, the kind that Fossil Phil ( Flip) , Ed, John, Luc and I used to use as kids to earn $.50 cutting the neighbors lawns.

Later,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Afternoon all -

Just a quick stop in before I go and start copying my 'archives' from binder to computer to DVD for storage. On that note, for those who said to try a local art supply store for document protectors that will not lift ink - Do NOT go to A C Moore as they don't carry any type of document protectors.

Ok all - Enjoy the Easter weekend. Mine will be busy. Our parents will finally meet for the 1st time on Sunday for Easter dinner at her parents house.

Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

Anyway, this newsflash from HO&N

"FLASH: Half Moon Orion and Northern has announced their plans for what they are dubbing the "Snorkel Train". The design focuses on a watertight model ABBA F Unit with an added Snow push polow and added ehaust ports. The design was stsarted in light of the massive flooding as a tool to remove cars and locomotives from flooded yard using it's snowplow as a bow on a ship. Once trains are safely out of water, it willd ecoupel and wade back in for it;s next assignment. Design crews expect the train ito be ready in the next year, wishing that the plan had been formed sooner. So far, they have not figured out how to handle washout"

Afternoon Gang: Just a note to let you all know that I'll be gone tonight. The daughter and granddaughters are about 1 hour away and then after they get here and get unloaded we will drive to Dallas and pick up daddy. So I won't be back in untill tomorrow. If Bergie shows up again just leave a trail for me to follow and keep the sign lit.

Evening, I'll have a barley pop and boiled shrimp, crabs, n crawfish please Cleo.

PC,,, good news on the son and your wife. Still got ya'll in our thoughts.

Now for the very, very bad joke of the day.

One day a lawyer was riding in his limousine when he saw a guy eating grass He told the driver to stop. He got out and asked him, "Why are you eating grass".

The man replied, "I'm so poor, I can''t afford a thing to eat."

So the layer said, "Poor guy, come back to my house."

The guys then said, "But I have a wife and three kids." The lawyer told him to bring them along.

When they were all in the car, the poor man said, "Thanks for taking us back to your house, it is so kind of you."

The layer said, "You''re going to love it there, the grass is a foot tall."

It sounds like what I told Mother about the yard after she drove the mower into the lake chasing a snake. I had to use the pickup to get it out. OH yes. The snake lived

Evening ,all.

Looks like I might have some work next week.A guy wants a gazebo finished on the inside with cedar tongue and groove, and his shop finished also.THAT'S good news for me.He said he's got other work ,too. The gazebo houses the hot tub. I built it about 2 years ago along with the rest of thier huge house. I'm going stir crazy not swingin' a hammerBlack Eye [B)]Kind of a big hit on the ol' ego, if ya know what I mean!No one else is working much up here either, though.KYCU is my motto!Laugh [(-D]

The BIL stopped by to take better pics, but his batteries were dead( on the camera,on the camera.Geez.)We'll try Sat. to post a few updates of the layout.I did build one of the round house kits I got off evilbay last year, one left to build to simulate the still standing one at Spooner.Inoperable TT ,but it's for "atmosphere" anyway. I'll park a few old F units that are dead for scenic effect.

The CFO is making what she calls "dead animal " (venison)for dinner, so I'll have to pass on eating at the diner tonight.Funny, she grew up on a dairy farm but hates beef, venison ,wild game, etc.Said that's all they ate!

***Terry, hope you get plenty of work out of him. That's great news. Hey, does he like wildlife art? Whistling [:-^] I'll give you a cut (and anyone else here who brings me a client Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg])

With a week of sunshine and plenty of water on the ol' farm, took the opportunity to drain & clean one of the water storage tanks. Felt like Mike Rowe, my head in the tank with a jet of water flying everywhere. Also picked up the cement pads it sits on to re-level the ground, now that it has had time (& weight on it) to settle. Will finish that project tomorrow.

One last, please & thank you! Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Just got back from Good Friday and the Vigil rehearsal.  Bumping into walls.  Stopped by the LHS and picked up some Cal-scale castings for my 'basket-case' new Yellowstone.  Also stopped by the grocery store, picked up a chocolate Easter Bunny for midnight, tomorrow--actually, 12:01.  It's a FOOT tall.  SOLID chocolate!  Lent will be OVER!  I'M STARTING WITH THE EARS!  Work my way down--by the time Easter Mass is over, I should be done with the feet and tail.  '

Next year, I've decided what I'm giving up for Lent:  I AM GIVING UP GIVING UP THINGS FOR LENT, FOR LENT.

Sounds good to me.

Evening all,

The latest update on little PC.........I just got back from the hospital and I guess last night was more difficult then I knew.  This morning was a continuation of that with lots of pain issues and other things going on, but they got a few things worked out and this afternoon and evening is much better.  The pain seems to be more under control, but they're going to hang on to him tonight and probably tomorrow night.  That means easter in the hospital I guess.  Thats OK.  I've got some people working on maybe getting Payton Manning (the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts football team) to stop by for a visit either tomorrow or Sunday.  The hospital is named after him and he does spend time there on occasion.  My son is a huge fan.  I don't know if it'll happen or not (it's a real shot in the dark), but if it does it'll make his year!  Anyways, mom and son are resting comfortably and I headed home to be with my daughter.  Enough bout our super drama lives though.

What's going on with all of you?  Guess I've got to do some reading and find out, huh?  You all have been a talkative bunch while I've been out today!

And Gerry, It was Old Yeller and Air Bud, not Dream, Plan, and Build! Wink [;)]

Global Warming is on hold....

...HEAVY SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CLEVELAND HAS UPGRADED THE SNOW ADVISORY TO A HEAVY SNOW WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM SATURDAY FOR THE CLEVELAND AREA INCLUDING CUYAHOGA...LAKE AND GEAUGA COUNTIES. SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES OVERNIGHT ALONG A RELATIVELY NARROW PORTION OF NORTHERN OHIO FROM TOLEDO ALONG THE LAKESHORE TO LORAIN AND THE CLEVELAND AREA WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW NORTH OF THE TURNPIKE. SNOW TOTALS IN THIS AREA BY SATURDAY MORNING WILL AVERAGE 4 TO 8 INCHES.

MRRing is on hold, I have a 4' wide 6' deep sink hole next to my house I need to fill in.  It seems when they put the addition on this house in the 70's the contractor dug a hole and stuck a drain tile in the ground for the down spout (not connected to anything).  Over the years the rain water has eroded the dirt away.

Good Great Evening, Diners, Chloe! I'll have some of Ryan's salmon if you have some left, please, and a slice of that Key Lime pie, too. Thanks!

Hey, Fergie, about that Food Fight - don't you remember how long it took Zoe and Chloe to clean up after the last big celebration in the old Diner(s)? Hate to imagine how much mess a Mexican-all-you-can-eat free-for-all Food Fight! Wow!! [wow]

JP - so, will your lady friend meet the family on Sunday? Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

Don't want to rub it in for anyone, but today our gas dropped a couple of pennies. Now at $2.969/gallon. I'll have to get the tank filled in the morning, per our suggestion previously posted here. Yeah!! [yeah] Started to get gas tonight, but decided I could just get 5 bucks worth and get the rest in the a.m.

And yes, that means... Yippee, yippee, YIPPEE!!

that my friend Paul got my car checked out and it's working! Big Smile [:D] Apparently the spark plugs were snug enough that water didn't get in the crankcase, and he took it over to his house to use his shop vac and dry out the carpet and all, then brought it back this afternoon before I got off. The carpet mats I had left on the back deck today appearred to be about all dried out, so I put them back in the car tonight. YAY!!!!! Feel like I should learn how to do cartwheels or something!  Sooooo nice not to have to beg/borrow/plead for rides (but I do appreciate my co-workers who helped me with rides to/from during the meantime). Big Smile [:D]

Heck, I don't even mind hitting the TOP - Chloe, set 'em up and start my tab!

PC - thanks for the update on your son's progress yet? That would be so cool if you could get Payton to come by, even for a little bit! I'm sure your son would love it, Thumbs Up [tup]Yeah!! [yeah]

Duke

and he might even forget any pain that he has. , good to see you in again. That sounds like some hefty gas prices there.Thumbs Down [tdn] Definitely wouldn't want another 50 cents tax increase on top of that!

Bill T., more great photos - you've been holding out on us, saving those all for the past week or so. Wink [;)] Keep 'em coming!

Inch, nice groaner.... Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Well, Dick, the bank is definitely on my 'Never again' list. Tried talking with two different people (local and their toll-free lines) today about them charging me TWO overdraft charges, when the electronic transfer is the only one showing it dropping the balance too low when I look at it online. Will be starting on Monday to change any financial records that reference that account, and get an account at our local credit union instead.

BridgeTom, make sure you don't crash after all that sugar rush from that bunny! And are you wearing brown on Sunday, I hope? Wink [;)]

Grant (Trainzrule89), if you really want pancakes and soda, you can have them. It's free because you didn't hit the top of the page (TOP), so watch out - if you hit it, you get the virtual bill for everyone else's orders... Shock [:O]Oops [oops]

CN Charlie - to answer your question, yep, the rain's stopped here for now. (They're talking about rain next week, however). There was a train derailment across the river in Southern Illinois this week (likely the ballast sunk into the soggy ground), and they had to take some of the crew out by another loco that came in behind the derailed train on the track (but not quite as far along). That area was so thickly wooded (and the ground so soggy) that there wasn't any place for a chopper to land, or a 4X4 to drive in. Shock [:O]

But over here on our side of the muddy Miss., it was sunny and breezy today, and got into the low to mid-60's. Only supposed to reach the 50's tomorrow. In the outlying areas around here (Delta, MO and Marble Hill, MO are a couple) they're still flooded. There are several shelters set up at churches in the Marble Hill area and in the Delta area.

I'll be working on my dinner now. Dinner [dinner]  Everyone take care of yourselves and keep dry, warm and safe. Prayer for healing, peace, and comfort.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

The winds are still howling here, I think the boys up in Nova Scotia are really getting it now, if the gusts are 50 mph here, I can only imagine what they are feeling closer to the storm center.

Coffee please, cream only.  Nice place this dinner, will have to stop by more often.

Getting excited because all that is left is to rough scenic the one module and do some wiring and the trains will run- FINALLY.  Kinda feel like I am going through withdrawal symptons not having anything on tracks ready to roll.

Anyhow gotta rest.  Sure love this forum with all of its wonderful members and info.

26F wind chill 15F, we have 8" on the ground with another 3" falling today and a High of 33F.  We are still under a "Heavy Snow Warning".  I think I should ship some of this to the diner for snow cones tonight!

Hoople that is good news, seems you have been waiting a long time for that locomotive.

Morning all!

How's everyone doing?  Not so hot here.  I think I'm coming down with a cold (stree lowering my tolerence levels?), so I hardly slept at all last night.  Just tossed and turned all night.  Got a call part way through the night that they're having some more minor problems at the hospital.  Nothing major, just stuff to keep them from resting real comfortable, ya know?  It all got worked out though.  For right now I think I'm going to try and do some schoolwork.  That should put me to sleep!

Hoople, I'm pretty excited for ya man!  It's finally coming!  You've been waiting for like forever it seems!

Later..........
