Wow, the swet rolls are nearly gone. Packers ate 3 and Jerr yate 1. holy cow!
Inch and packer metioned demolition derbies. Did you know this? Another name for a race track specializing in such events is called a "crash course".
Inch .... one of those days should fit. Please send PM so we can exchange contact information. I'll see if the other guys here have time. Mrs. Inch would be more than welcome, too.
MR subscribers. Look at page 92 in August 2008 issue just out. See the cartoon? Remind you of anybody in the diner? Actually, the person here has an alternative.
Happy Model Railroading everyone.
I'll have three cinammon rolls, please.
Well, my little bro had a fun b-day pary yesterday, and got a ton of cool presents today. So he's now officially 7. Inch53: I love demolition derbys. that's the night we go to the local fair; they destroy a bunch of cars there.

So you like our "improvements"? I'll send over a couple more for your approval, OK?
Gav, bus signs hurling through windows? Sounds like something to avoid!
Mornin, just an irish coffee please Janie.
A disturbance will pivot in from the northwest Sunday as a low pressure spins through the Great Lakes. This disturbance will cause the clouds to build & billow over the sky & pop some scattered showers & t'storms. With the very cold pocket aloft & reasonably low freezing levels a few small hailers of pea- to marble-size would not a be out of the question. I am tracking this system, as well as one that may bring heat, humidity & t'storms by late week

We tested another .4 of rain last, luckily after the demo derby and fire works at the fair.
LEE,
All of our kids are driving; course the youngest is 30 now. You really start feeling old when the grandkids start. We've got 2 driving now.
DICK,
Gardens out and doing good even for being late and the rains. We've had a few banana already peppers, and most everything else is blooming n setting fruit. Hope for some fried green maters before long. Also, there'll be enough tomaters for the dinner to. Mother said we needed to can a lot, so she kept bringing hole plants. At last count there was 49 out there.
When the all crop damage gets figured, I'm sure the numbers will be staggering. Some damage won't be known until harvest. And with crop demands getting higher, price are going to soar at the grocery store.
GARRY,
We're going down IL-1 to 45, then 145 the rest the way [about 4 hrs], almost a straight shot for us. Going thru Marion would add an hour or more. Mothers talking bout going down by there, to Giant City state park later this summer maybe. So I'll swing by Chucks then.
We're planning on heading that way the 2'nd n staying till the 6'th and I sure would like to see the layouts round there. If you would send me directions n such, we'll see what happens.
TOM,
Glad the smokes let up some for you. Sure hope you get some favorable weather for fire control. Those Particles are fine ash from the fire.
The derby was kinda rough last night, they didn't have the track muddy enough.
The car on the bottom in this one is our youngest boy's in J birds birthday car
There was one that jumped the pole and almost went through the inside horse rail, and another broke a post on the grand stand. Needless to say there was a lot of unhappy folks there last night. Thankfully no one was hurt badly.

Good morning all,
Gav I feel for you, my mother worked at Bowling Green State University, your stories sound similar to hers.
Sue, I'll divert a few tank cars of rain water your way.
Jim, I work for the Coast Guard; if it gets too bad I'll just have the guys pick me up.

Tom:Retorical Answer: There should be a ladder to the tower and a trap door.
Do you you have any pics of the Steam Engine? I can't find so much as a clue to what a wate rpump should start looking like.
What am I doing up at one two? I just decaled my first successful. A BL1 Demo. Decals from micro, on a Proto engine. My first success. it was fun. Destroyed one stripe, but cannibalized what I thinkw as an extra, coul dbe part of the also included GP7 I don't have to patch the gap. I even put on the tiny F marking front. I have paint specs bigger than that F. LOL I'll get pic tomorrow

Well, couldn't spend as much of the day as I thought--the smoke LOOKS like it's way up there, but it's still dropping what the newspeople call "Particulates", which I suppose is supposed to mean teeny-tiny "Particles" of smoke that are floating down to the ground and into my lungs. Spent about an hour out in the garage then had to come in and use the Inhaler. I did re-install the water tank and flag-stop station at Bassett's on the 'finished' portion of the Buttes, but the rest of it will STILL have to wait. Bought a cute little Atlas elevated gate tower kit that I thought I might be able to kit-bash into a Forest Service lookout tower for the highest Butte, but the more I look at it, the more I don't think it'll work. Too small, and there's no DOOR! I mean, how does the lookout get into the darned thing, right? Besides, the lookout station on the Buttes isn't an elevated tower, it's just a cute little house sitting on a big, fat rock. Back to the drawing board. I KNOW there's a kit out there somewhere just waiting for a 'bash', just have to find it.
Sue: You probably won't have to buy too much tonight, but if you are, I'll just have a strawberry milkshake. 90 degrees in OLYMPIA?! Hoo boy, do you have MY sympathies--my son lives in Vancouver, and when it gets above 80 there, he just wants to go out and commit suicide. Read in another post that your first lokie was the MDC Shay. I've got one--haven't gone the NWSL route like you have, but I'll agree, they're one nifty little lokie. Pulls like a team of oxen.
Flash: Thanks for explaining your fire-train (I think, LOL!). I'm still back in the steam era when the fire-train on Donner Pass had a pump mechanism on the tender. Funny story--I worked for the Forest Service up at Truckee during the summers when I was in college, and SP still had their quaint little fire-train based in Norden. We were working a small brush-fire up around Stanford Curve on Donner Pass, and SP rolled their fire train down the summit. Only thing, they didn't let us know. They let go with their hoses and darned near DROWNED us working the fire below the roadbed. Holy cow, did that tender-pump have PRESSURE!! The lokie and tender are on display here in Roseville, we could sure use it around here, now
Well, I'm heading off to the sack. We didn't have the thunderstorms predicted this afternoon, but that Delta Breeze is still kicking in pretty good. Things are improving air-wise. Now if they'll just start improving FIRE-wise, sigh.
Best to all, prayers to those in need. Especially right now for those in Missouri.

Hello everybody....
All the rain has dodge around us here. We could use some now. The lake is up however. Evidently, not much water is being released over the dams towards the other rivers. good for boating and fishing.
Happy Modle Railorading.
Well, it hit 90 degrees today. It amazing when we haven't had many 70 degree days. We would gladly take some of that rain that you guys are reporting.
Looks like it is my turn to buy.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

Of course, as you say, Lisa may give Rob a lesson of his own if he winds up on the couch tonight. Diners, it appears we didn't get that other portion of the storm over near Lee diverted away. Lee, I hope you have a boat to get to work, at this rate! How long has it been raining for you there, this round?Gav, do your dorms there have electronic keys, or some kind of electronic override to keep the little darlings locked out? Evening all,
Jeff, I think instead of a temporary backdrop; maybe try to dress up the front of the A/C unit to look like a cold storage facility or something. Maybe put a line of trees on the back property line of the park? The entire park looks excellent.
While driving back from Geneva, OH this afternoon we were hit with some heavy downpours. I was on State Route 20 plowing water all the way home in my F-250. When I hit the freeway, traffic was running at 35mph. Here in Euclid, the water was shooting out of the manhole covers because the main storm drains were over loaded. We still have flooding problems at the heads of navigation; if it keeps up we will have problems down here at the mouth of the rivers.

Push-Pull. The RDCs (A tad modern for you I suppose, so are the cars, but for the rest of the bonfire known as California, it'll work. ) allow for crew changes to "Hog Out" on the fly. And make sure that if the line behind them refills with fire, they can back out. What I forgot to mention is that this is only the Front Line half. there's a second support unit, carrying extra water, an AutoMax filled with modified Hummers et al, a trio of pullmans, a diner, and ex-Troop/Baggage cars serving as tool cars.
Duh. Put the pumps in the box tank. make room in RDCs. Trailing units become RDC 1s *Full length Passenger) There will be water guns on the on the roof of the RDCs, proably onm top of the Tank cars, as well as ground ports for guys with short hoses to walk.
Evening Gang: Boy, ask and you shall receive. It started raining about an hour and a half ago and is still raining a little bit. If you need anything just mention it here and bingo. I guess PC may have had a hand in it.
Not much going on today. Rob and daughter Lara hauled hay for us today. It's nice to have a couple of willing hands around. Rob took the new tractor with the cab and AC and let his wife Lara have the old open one. I wouldn't be sujpprised to find him on the couch in the morning.
With the rain now we'll lay off the hauling untill the ground drys up a bit. That will only take a day or two.
Rob we'll keep on doing what we can. If i was closer I'd be at your side.
Well it's bed time. I guess that Gav will be able to get a good nights sleep tonight.
Good Night All

I check in from time to time, but I have been outside most of the time when I am at home.
Not much train time, but one of these days we will get back in there. Looks like most of you are staying busy.
