Finished the last of the bookshelves. Also squeezed in priming the train table legs. Half tempted to do the first black coat, as it is warm and sunny right now and it is going to rain tomorrow. Then again, what's a couple more days. (impatiently tapping foot)

QUESTION: Should I paint the underside & sides of the door (train table) with house paint, or would it be better to coat it with a sealer (like Minwax)?? If either would work well, then I would prefer to paint it black like the legs.

Only a few days ago, we had about six inches of snow, and a lousy weekend of weather.  Now, it's sunny and 72 F.... No sign of snow.   .... If we could keep it the way it is now, I'd be happy.

Lee, I'm glad that MRR stuff doesn't go up in price like those cutters do.

AggroJones, I'd agree with the others about figuring what older MRR items you maybe haven't used and want to sell off for now, and then later you can replace them with newer (and usually better detailed ones). The idea of getting a reasonably priced engine and weathering and then selling it for some added funds might be worth consideration, too. Best wishes on that!

Got choir practice dress rehearsal tonight at church. They want us guys to wear blue shirts and black pants (except I don't own any black pants and have almost no dark-colored stuff). So I'll be wearing a pair of dark blue suit pants instead, and we'll see how they like those. Don't really want to buy a pair of black pants just for the Easter weekend (and the DVD taping), since it's very unlikely that I'll wear them again. Heck, last time I wore these blue pants was couple of years ago. Maybe I wore them for a friend's funeral last year, at most. I pretty much wear only medium or lighter colors.

Jerry, I didn't mention earlier (I think) but you do wonders on those trailers from a WalMart sign. Wouldn't mind if you put those steps down with some pics, either. I liked that fish market article in RMC, too.

Well, my donut's gone, and I need to see about lunch, Zoe! How about a Dr. Pepper and that chicken thingee Ryan has on the menu - sounds good to me. . Cup of that turtle soup will be a good start while I'm waiting on the chicken, too. Thanks!

LEE: Very cool sites. I'd forgotten about the Sundew being replaced by the Alder. When she was decommissioned in'04, there was a big write-up in the local paper here with a history,etc.Fun reading!

RYAN/PC: the holders are 1/8" masonite. Backs are 53/4", sides and bottom are 11/2x3" and the fronts are 1x31/8".Use plain yellow carpenter's glue. Glue the front pieces to the bottom and sides leaving a 1" opening in the middle for the cord.I glued them to the facia with pl400 because I HATE screws in masonite!I tried clamping everything together,but it all just flew apartGlue the bottom, then the sides,then the fronts. You have to hold it together for a sec or two til the glue takes ahold.Then, DON"T TOUCH IT til you're ready to paint.Don't ask!!

I don't have any pics, but once you cut the parts it's pretty self explainatory(sp)

Beautiful sunny day here. Although always viewing my surroundings with an artist's eye, I have begun looking at things with the layout in mind. While running errands yesterday, the thought crossed my mind that either late spring or early fall are the two choices I will pick from for time of year. Right now it would pretty much be lots of dead looking stuff on the ground and dead looking trees everywhere with the occasional pine tree & exposed red clay for a hint of color.

Built a bunch of throttle holders out of scrap masonite yesterday. One more thing crossed off the list!Like some others in the Diner, money's a bit tight ,so I'm doing the things I'm able with what's on hand.It's amazing what you can do if you list what needs to be done.I made two: need the materials to do and can do it now.The second one was longer!Lots of scenery detailing ,facia painting ,writing up bills of lading,etc. The stuff I don't really WANT to do, but can right now.Keeps me interested, plus I finish the boring stuff.

Terry I like your thought process there, I seem to be following the same route lately with respect to using what I have on hand, and great ideas with the scrap Masonite.

That's a good one Philip. If you're going to beat him at something let it be his own game. I did that to my nephew some years ago. He was getting pretty good at pool and thought he could take me. He had never seen me do very well at it. I let him win a game or two then put a $20 bill on the table and told him he could have it if he could beat me for the next two games and if he couldn't beat me again he owed me an additional $20. He agreed. Do you hear the 500 pound canary calling the cat? He never saw it coming. I ran the table on him three games straight! He never got a shot. It was only when he was paying up that I told him I played tournament IPA when I was in Europe. He almost swallowed his eyes.

Good morning all....Its sunny and 47 here this morning....I'll have one of Bill's dougnuts and coffee please...Thank You....Things are pretty quite here on Pearl street...I did the other half of signals and crossing gates yesterday using a Bachman set I cut apart gotta add a signal cabinet don't know of any in N scale but should be easy to scratch...I went down town yesterday and had plans for "fish house" from new RMC copied..They are HO so I had them copied 1/2 size which should be pretty close for N...plan on using a plastic Walmart sign...also worked rehabing a secong Ore car but can't find the right size pin to hold the truck on...have to dig thru some more boxes today gotta get organzied....You all have a good day...Jerry

PC, that story about trouncin' the young whippersnapper at his own game made me LOL!

I have done the same with my son, only shooting pool.(I've played on numerous leagues.) Let him win a couple big then ask if he wants to play for a few bucks. You know the story,spank him back three in a row!Same thing my Dad did to me.I never learned. Mom told me MUCH later he worked his way thru Macalester College hustling pool!Cribbidge was even worse!

HEY!!!  Good morning everyone!

How goes it in your world?  Not bad here!

So yesterday was pretty nice around here.  Low 50's and clear, so the wife and I headed out for a walk around the neighborhood.  Yup!  I tossed her in the wheelchair and zipped her around the place.  We call that thing her "hotrod".  You know, the big back tires and all........  Anyways, it was nice to get out and have it not be FREEZING!  And to top it off, it's supposed to be a little warmer today.  We might even hit 60!  But then tonight the rain starts and the temps drop again, so I guess we'll just enjoy it while it's here, huh?

You know, I sat up last night after dinner and played video games with my son until 11pm.  He wanted to race me on a motorcycle racing game called Tourist Trophy.  He'd been practicing all day and he thought he could take me.  What he didn't know was that I beat the game some time ago.  I hadn't played in a while though, so he beat me on the first race, but I pummeled him on the second.  I threw the third race to keep it interesting, then trounced him the forth.  For the tie breaker I took him to school and hung out just ahead of him the whole race, all the while talkin' smack to him.  I had him all worked up by the end of that race!   After that I helped him in the story mode.  I won him a couple of good bikes that'll make him more competitive.

Ryan, I didn't see your post last night, so I didn't know to be praying, but I'm glad Ben's feeling better.  You guys have really been going through the creeping gazooties lately, huh?

So whats going on with you?

Thanks guys for the well wishes for Ben, his body temperature was normal this morning and he had enough energy to head out for school today. Sent an email to the teachers too to let them know and I sent him with a note, hope he can make it through the next few days, we are monitoring him on a day-by-day basis right now. Again, I want to thank each of your who put Ben in your prayers and thoughts the past few days.

Some more good news. I lost another 1.5 lbs since my last weight report... here is my little choo choo ticker getting closer to my first target weight.
