Guy, unfortunately, I could not find anything but Athearn for my first 12 Reefers. I will keep looking. If I had the time, I would modify the Athearns but, I use what time I have to modify ( Mostly) MDC 36ft Box cars for my home layout. 90% of my structures are scratch built and this burns up a lot of time.

I ran my friends Intermountain AC-12 on my home (1909 era) layout which, believe it or not, has 30 inch main lines and what I consider bullet proof track. I had EXACTLY the same experience as you did with the Intermountain.

Nice pics everyone. I guess we're going to send 2007 out in style. I don't have any pics this week, but I did manage to get some board and picket fencing done for the farm and town areas...I had plenty of company in from out of town this week, so I didn't get any pics taken...next time for sure (gona borrow the oldest's new Nikon and try it out...sneeky dad!).

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I've taken movie making classes before, not train ones, but they gave me some expiriance with Windows Movie Maker.

It took me all day to add the sounds in the correct places, I found them in a ton of places, most of which I don't remember.

I muted all the actual recorded stuff, including the camera hitting a tree in the woods, and had to edit out a lot, such as a derailment and the locos sticking on one spot.Whistling [:-^]

I'm making another one of odds and ends, maybe I'll put in a "bloopers" section!Big Smile [:D]

Good work so far everyone.  With the long weekend I've finally had a chance to do a few things.  Started painting a kitbash loco and some weathering of various equipment.  I'm not really a Soo modeler but I've seen them go through my favorite railfanning spot so I picked one up awhile ago.  Took it out to do so weathering, now to apply to rest of the details and dullcote.

Great video Tyler. When you were doing the part following the train, how do you keep the camera so steady? Roll on a desk chair, wheels on the tripod???

Looks very nice so far. Lets see some RUST!

Is that a recent BB athearn? I have no qualms weathering those athearns.Wink [;)]

But Atlas, Kato or Proto2000......well...thats another story.

Here's my parting shot for the year.  I painted, decalled and weathered a generic Athearn blue-box reefer for the Strumpet Brewery.  I did the truck (a Jordan vehicle) a couple of weeks back.

The best part of the year was being able to hold a couple of operating sessions.  Building and running are fine, but it's really great when you can share it with some friends...

I'm with you on this. I have found only one guy near me interested in running my layout and we have 3 hour op sessions about once every other week. I sure could use at least one more engineer/conductor.

Driline,

Rust will come, maybe tomorrow.  Most proto pics I've seen show a lot of dirt, but little rust,

Not an Athearn, its a Kato.

Ty,  great video.  Your river looks so realistic.  I can almost see the water flowing downstream.

MrB,  You did promise to show us the Strumpet reefer.  Impressive as usual.

Garry, Are they arriving at the station on New Years Eve?Thumbs Up [tup] I always enjoy your projects.

None of the above, I just held the camera very carefully, plus it has some gadget that decreases vibration. It's not perfect; as in the 1st one the camera whacked a tree!Whistling [:-^]

Sue; what river? I only have one water area on the layout; which is a swamp that keeps leaking whenever I try to pour more coats in; and I'm pretty sure I didn't have any footage of it.
