Weekend photo fun - Yearend
Posted by ARTHILL on Thursday, December 27, 2007 9:38 PM
Its an early start, but I will be tied up for the rest of the weekend.

I am still on hiatus from making mountains. Been working on Rusty Stumps' Fall Creek Backwoods Water Tower. About done though it needs some weathering. I saw this model on the internet when I first got back to HO a couple years ago. I finally bought one. It took a couple weeks to build. It is a nice wood and metal model.

Santa brought me a cornerstone 130' turntable. With 2 Roundhouse kits, the Machineshop, and Campbell's Coaling Station and Sandhouse, I have the start of the next module.

Art, that is one fantastic looking water tower.  I love the older style structures with their unique character. Excellent job.

I've switched from track laying and weathering to building some of my first structures. With only 1-3/4" space I decided that my town of Taylor Tx could be built from flats upon the stone wall. I'm learning a lot from these modulars - wall alignment Black Eye [B)], painting brick - and thankfully so. I have the Walther's creamery to do and hope go get started before going back to work.

Window dressings are from City Classics. The awning is my own design - stole a piece of scrapbook paper from my wife. These flats are allowing me to try a lot of the tips I've read here on the forum - on the theater building, even though ~ 1/2" deep, in the doorway I placed a few items giving the illusion of more beyond.

This has been a lot of fun!

Tom

Aren't those three girls from Petticoat Junction supposed to be skinnydipping in that water tower?

Here's the PRR class M1 4-8-2 #6811 I just kitbashed in N scale from 2 Minitrix K4s, a Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2, a ConCor Hudson tender frame, and a bunch of GHQ details...

Great pictures, everyone.

Sweet Jeff! What size rail is that? It looks really good on that empty track to the right of the F units! Nice ballasting!

I'm pretty sure it's Jeff's choice of track, code 100 E-Z track.

Wow. I use Code 100 Atlas track, it's nice to know it's possible to disguise the oversised rail that well!

Is the turntable the ready to run one or is it a kit. I've been thinking of adding the 130' table on my layout, so i'm interested to know your thoughts and coments on it. BTW, nice job on the water tank!

Have Fun.... Bob.

Not too much from my end this time around, just experimenting with a few new photography techniques using my new Proto 2000 Heritage C&O 2-8-4 Berkshire.

This is the Lima Superpower getting ready for the morning excursion run.

A closeup of the running gear.

Happy Modeling!

Oh, it isn't too hard Tyler!

I'm still working on my GP40MC. So far I've lowered the cab, filled in the windows. I  need to raise the windows a bit. I lowered the cab so I can install the AC on the roof. I've added the CN anticlimber and ditchlights. I've removed the nose door, and the markers and number boards above the windows. I need to file down the bottom of the plow...

My wife was talking about a new house & I told her I knew the perfect spot to live. Moving up in the middle of my Horshoe Curve on the Allegheny & Cumberland & watching the meets will be exciting. I'm sure she'll get use to the noise...lol

Bob, the turntable is ready to run. I have seen it on a couple of layouts and it is as close to fool proof as possible. It may be a while before I can confirm that. A few Campbell kits to go before I even get to the table work. BTW, how bout a pic for this thread.

It was a good year model railroad-wise.  I got a lot of work done on my layout, a little bit of work done on my house (in preparation for expanding the layout!)

The best part of the year was being able to hold a couple of operating sessions.  Building and running are fine, but it's really great when you can share it with some friends...

Happy New Year, everyone!

In preparation for the New Year, the Strumpet Brewery has been filling all the last minute orders:

This is a Jordan Railway Express truck that I repainted and decalled.  I also opened the back doors and added some kegs and bottles:

Mr. B,  great looking rig you got there, While your driver is making his rounds for the new years parties have him drop off a few of those kegs to Joe's Skoot-A-Boot, I have a feeling there will be lots of excitement there for the First. Good work.               Mike

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Well here are those buildings I have been working on. I have added some decals and now need to weather them into the buildings. I have made some head way on my  garage and also added a burntout brick building. I also finished up a GN stock car today so I put that in the mix also.
