Well I'm an old timer also, at 58 and retired. The only thing that I see wrong , is that you forgot to post your post number of 392, and now mine is 393, otherwise I totally agree with you. Keep up the fun[:D][:D][:D][:D]

Calvin,
we are now on post 383, you have, as I type this, 42 posts, you state this topic wil give you your first star: that is 50 posts, so that is 8 posts to go, you return every 5 pages to post so:[:p]

LETS CALCULATE:
5 x 8 = 40 pages x 20 posts = [oops] 800 posts to go SO:
lets all start typing and help this dude to his first star!!

Change is as good as a rest. Besides I've gone with the 10 year rule all my life which is this. I do something for 10 years then move on. This is my second go through for this one. Probably because there's more than one aspect to this hobby. It's diversified, which keeps it interesting.

This is 375 and we're still keeping it alive

After close to 20 years in the hobby ( and untold amounts of money) I have decided to dismantle my layout and get out of the hobby. Its been interesting, but I think its time to go. I have enjoyed reading the comments and suggestions that have been posted on this forum. Good luck to all.
Orig posting from another topic---------

*******Now here's a guy who's leaving the hobby because it no longer holds his interest, really too bad. Maybe one day he may be back, but only if he has fun doing it.

Pete and Dave, that would be fine if somethng was being said, other than counting. In the case of the Would You Believe topic, a fair amount of thought and creativity has gone into creating that monster.

I have never been against the concept of a long topic, but the purpose has run out of this one a long time ago. This has become the "off topic" topic, and started its long downward spiral the instant the first number was included in a post.

Even though I haven't participated, I like the never ending story, and have read it, though not recently, and think its really funny.

This argument isn't about the length of the post, at least not in my opinion, and I stated that back on page 3. As long as there is some intellectual content, I won't complain. I don't think that is really asking too much, is It?

I don't think that I've lost my sense of humor, Tony's joke on 288 was clever, and may have gone over the heads of some, but I got it.

If simply posting a number is supposed to be funny, I'm not laughing. If you like to hear me rant and rave, and you are just trying to provoke me into another long response, the game is over.

This is not a competition, this is supposed to be a discussion.

We will now bless this poor soul who has left our ranks, join with me....."May the Gods of the rails smile upon you and anoint you with Diesel Oil." Hey Big Guy come on and lighten up, there's enough stress in this world today. If we can't get on here and just be big kids once in while, even at 58, then this hobby isn't worth participating in. Try being a kid again, you may find it fun and certain to relieve the stress.[:D][:D][:D][:D]Oh ya-----373
