New to the forum, but not to model railroading.

I've enjoyed these weekly photos for some time and decided to join the fun.  Here's my latest project, n-scale.

I've been working on detailing out a SD40-2.  Part of the project included installing Cannon & Co fans.

Before Cannonizing

The Cannon kit

Original fans removed

New fan sub base installed

New fans and grills installed
[

This really makes the fans standout.  It's a relatively simple project to do and as shown, can be done to a finished model without ruining the factory paint job.

Nice pics people. Terry, great bridge. Ray, like the band shell and blue house. I tried the house and because it looks pretty good, I realize what a great model you have.

Done with the Kanyon for a while, but I found these two trains on the bridge and tresle.

OK, here's a picture of "the new baby."

The thing on the right side with the black O-ring is the filling hole.  The knob in the center controls the drip rate of the cleaning fluid through a needle valve to the pad at the bottom.  To show size, I put it between one of my subway cars on the right and a standard Athearn Blue-Box reefer on the left.  (No, Athearn doesn't make a MacRoberts Fine Haggis reefer - that's from the "Fine" decal set by Fritz Milhaupt.)

I used 92% isopropyl alcohol in mine.  That's toward the weak end of recommended solvents, but I didn't want to offend the ladies of the house by using anything stronger and more "aromatic."  I was very happy with the results using alcohol, though, so I'll probably stick with that.  Down in the subways, which is what I really need this for, I don't run anything with plastic wheels, and the primary disadvantage of alcohol is that it won't take off plastic residue.

Saturday is work day for the loggers at Central Camp in the Sierras in the 1920's.  Here we see a good day's work ... a long line of loaded log cars.  The Shay has just arrived to pick up the loads.  A few of the loggers will hop a ride down to Oakhurst for a little entertainment tonight ...

This just in....Mayor Applegate has been caught taking funds which were scheduled to be applied to the redevelopment of Highway 80. Good work Jerry - I feel like I need a Texaco in New Mexico.

Wow, there are some pretty impressive pictures here this week! Nice job, guys!Big Smile [:D]

My only project recently is putting a Rivarossi ball-bearing motor into my Big Boy.Big Smile [:D]

Those BB motors run as well as Mashimas, and they've only got 3 poles!

I also did some ballasting a little while ago, which is visible in the picture. How do you guys think it looks?

Thanks all for the good comments, OKr...I went thru a phase where I was buying a lot of Cats from Wally World. I am planning on a rock quarry and a Cat dealership on my next layout. I have about 75 pieces of Cat equpt. I am going to get some more depressed flat cars so I can put some track-hoes and a couple more loaders on the train.                    Mike

This is a new picture of this scene with some trees added.  This is the first showing of my new Atlas SD24 in consist with my brass turbine. I had to swapout the Lenz decoder that came in the SD24 for a Digitrax decoder so it could be speed matched to the turbine.

This is the railfan section of my 10'X14' N scale layout.

Mike, it's good to see that you're back to your "old self" again.  You must have great wheelsets and nice flat trackwork to haul all those babies around with a single engine.

This isn't a brand new photo, but I've been spending the last couple of weeks on wiring and track cleaning.  I got my CMX machine, and it took care of the subway tunnels.  The "tubes" were getting to be a real problem, and there are parts I couldn't reach easily, even with all the lift-offs removed.  The CMX wouldn't go very far with a single engine, though, so I ended up having to MU two powered subway units together.  That was weird.

Anyway, even classic cars needed gas.  The pumps are decades newer than the truck, but someone has kept it in good shape over the years:

 Hello all,

Below are pictures of DRSC first torpedo car full of molten hot metal for the BOF's steel converter. While the switcher moves the car into place, kress carriers a running scrap metal for the converters charging. Soon the scrap will be loaded into the converter and molten steel will be added. Then the converter will be loaded...next the oxygen lance will be lowered and turned on. In a fiery mix of sparks, flame and mayham, the first batch of steel is made in DRSC's plant.

Hope you injoy the pics, the BOF isn't done yet ,but still working on it. Ho is the only way to go.

  Go Bruins!!!!!!!!

Good pics as usual, Here are a few pics of some Cats I spotted on the tracks last night.

Some of these rail cars are quith heavy, although one Geep will pull it fine, I used two because I think it looks better. Just for the fun of it Last night I was wondering if the Bauchmann 2-6-2 would pull them. Sure enough, The little steamer pulled all that weight just fine, all I had to do was to turn the throttle up a bit.      Mike

I'm with Andrew on this one since the Rockies beat my Padres, I'll cheer for them.  In that kind of situation most would cheer against them but I'm all for them.

Okay here is what I have done today.  I say today because I haven't done much at all.  These are pictures of one of the two I-90 overpasses at Muir that I have scratch built and a picture of the East Porthole of the Bozeman Tunnel.  I am trying to get the right color for concrete, and it sure isn't easy.  Right before the pictures were taken I was applying zip texture plaster base that I learned from Joe Fugate's 4th video for weathering.
