Magnus, I like your sense of style.
For those who think your collection is redundant, I have a counter argument.
A member of our Thursday night group collects Northern Pacific power. He has at least three examples of every locomtive NP ever used, AND IT'S ALL IN BRASS. He also has DRGW power.
With a collection like that, you'd think he has one humungus layout,,,,,,WRONG!!!!!!
It's all on shelves.
There are over 600 locomotives on display and an equal number in storage.
Magnus, you haven't gone over the top yet. Take heart, you're still reasonably sane.
Nwhisperer wrote:Awesome collection and all 24 I assume? I am waiting for the new Athearn ones to come out next year in N-Scale. I have the challengers so far.
There are 24 in the picture, the 25th is on my workbench. I'm trying to fix it so I don't have to send it back.

Thanks for the support. It would be redundant if the aim was to run them all. All of the time. The idea is to run a few of them and basically let the others be on display. I've been considering making a diorama with them. Basically a huge roundhouse with place for all of them and have that displayed and detailed to the max. But probably they will find themselves on the shelves. Where I at least think they make a nice and impressive collection.
Is it unnecessary, well yes in one way. But I'm not starving and neither are my kids. I didn't have to choose between survival and this. Isn't our railroads in themselves not as unnecessary. But we build and play with them because we as individuals get something out of it. And this is what I get a kick out of.
24 x $749 US (an average price) = just about $18,000 US!
What? Did you work for the Sweedish Mafia?
George
Don't forget UPS shipping and 30% Swedish taxes! The government is the real mafia here!
And no I'm not in the mafia. I'm really just a student at the university.

No, really!!
Thanks for noticing this, I went and checked and you where right, the glass was actually bending from the weight. So I moved some of them. That would have been a fun crash!

There were only 2 B&O 0-4-0 lil Joes, now look how many were made in HO....
I don't think I have beaten the prototype in numbers yet, only 1 bowser BB here.
There was a total of 25 so I don't got more the the UP. I got as many as they did.
So we heard of this man who had a small fortune so me and the boys decided to break in and collect the goods
Upon doing so we couldn't find anything of importance but a bunch of Choo Choos. So we left with only the TV. Our sources didn't tell us the fortune was in Big Boys

No it's not a trick photo and to be honest I think it's a bit rude to say so with out anything to base it on. Why do they look the same? Well because they are all PCM BB, why would they look different. Two of them have the number 4022 but they where all ordered as unlettered. One of the ones that have numbers have an unlettered tender. If you want more pictures to prove that I'm not lying tell me how to do it. There is no reason you won't call them fakes either so I don't know the point. But ask me and I'll try to supply another picture, my digital camera is right here.
What a shame...

You right. I over reacted, I was just a tired after a long day at school.
I just thought it's weird, because most of the times when someone makes a claim and is called a liar they fail to show a picture, this time it's the other way around. Make it kind of pointless to try to share something that gave me great joy.

Magnus, I can't speak for Aggro, but he is a long-time respected member here; I feel confident when I say that he was pulling your leg, and was not challenging you literally. At least, I would be mightily surprised.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I was tired and kind of missed the probable irony, so I apologize for my remark. It was most unnecessary. Sometimes one shouldn't post while tired and before thinking about it!
simon1966 wrote:Since you have them unnumbered I take it that you are going to number them for each loco? I seem to remember that there are other detail differences between the different series of the locos? Are you going to detail each of them as they would have been?
Yes I'm going to get the microscale decals as soon as the wife lets me. She thought this was unnecessary, why I do not know? But they will be numbered individually. The difference between the first 20 and the second batch was the Wilson after cooler. On the first series they originally had sort of mass of pipes under the rails at the smoke box. This was all later removed and placed in the front of the engine behind steel doors. That is why only one of the have 1941 setup. Even though they all got converted I want one to show the difference. And of course, it gives me a reason to beg the wife to let me get one of those PCM brass big boys in the future!
Magnus,
Don't you need 26 so you can represent 4005 in both its coal and oil burning incarnations?

Ofcourse you are right! Now there is an argument any wife would find reasonable!

I know you are being sarcastic, but I can prove this is real. First look at the reflections of these beasts in the glass. Then note the difference of each "jeweled" marker light. Look at the center BB's, notice how the light is reflecting back at the lens. Lastly look at the different angel of both the front/rear engine sets, and look at the tender angles.
Lillen, is the (counting from left to right, top row) 10th and last BB the ones that has an assigned number?
