Lothar,

NICE backdrop...mine looks like a four year old, not a 34 year old, painted it... keep up the good work, bud!

Jeff, I think now that you have grass and ballast down it looks much better. That weird plaster-ish stuff just didn't look right.

Oh and, is your ballast really that color or is it the camera?

That's due to the camera. The ballast is a light brownish gray.

Jeff,

First of all, I am SO jealous that you actually have green on your layout...and ballast!!! LOL, still just dirt paint here!  Anyway, as far as the ballast color, mayhap it is the lighting not the camera?  Are you using flourescent (excuse spelling!) lighting?  That may explain it.  Try some lighting with a standard bulb or halogen and your colors may improve!  Just my 2 cents!  I do like your KS stuff, especially that bit about the 666 train... funny that no one would crew it!

I really like your layout and pics. I don,t see to many O guage layouts as colorful as yours. It reminds me of disneyland or knotts. It just looks "fun".  And the camera work is crisp and well angled. I have to thank jktrains for improving my picture skills this weekend. I like the way your  engine light is bright but not washing everything out. outstanding detail work also. Tell your girls they did a good job. I know they must have helped.

I'm seriously considering against that. They'll be picked to pieces no matter how good they are. I'm so mad right now I'm shaking and that is not good for me. I come to this forum to relax.

Jeff, You DO NOT get it.  The picture of your car is completely off topic.  You're excessive posting is one of the issues that caused both Trentonizer and GEEP UNIT to go off on you.  Yet you post a pic that's completely off topic and invites more attacks.  Remember, you reap what you sow.  I, mean should we go back through thread for this weekend and see how much you've posting, both pics and replies?  How many pics were duplicates?

What you didn't reply to was what does your car have to do with MRR?  Hold it let me guess.  It's the car you use when you drive to the LHS.

I realize that you're trying to improve you skills, but that doesn't mean we need to see every pic you take.  Pick the good, relevant ones and start a separate thread.  I've advised this before.  Or tell people to go look at your Photobucket account to see everything.

Now look. Two weeks ago, yes, I went nuts and posted a lot of pics of page. Last weekend I cut back to one pic post per page. This weekend I kept it to one pic post per page, and my pics ARE improving. What do I get? You're posting too excessively! Five pic posts in a thread of 100 posts is excessive? I don't think so! I'm trying to improve my photography skills and all I'm getting is bashing and criticism in a thread that's supposed to be fun. Instead there are people running around critiquing everything I do and apparently not taking into account what I have to work with. Maybe you should take a look at my pic post on page four and see how how I've improved by following your advice as best I can. I'm trying to learn from you and you're making me think it was a big mistake to follow your advice at all.

Al. Up to this point I haven't said anything about the quality of your photos. I have nothing bad to say about them. I'm not going to critique them either. I'm not a photographer and don't claim to be. I'll say this for them. They're quite good, better than what I'm capable of at this point in time with the antiquated equipment I have. I would like to be able to take pics like those, but with a 1.3 megapixel VGA camera, it ain't gonna happen. Now do me a favor and quit bashing me.

The question that should be asked is "what does this have to do with model railroading or trains?"  I'm with GEEP UNIT on this one.  Who cares what you drive?  I don't see anyone else posting pics of what they drive.

Jeff, for the life of me I don't get it.  For the past two weekends you've had 2, maybe 1, people be highly critical of both the quality of the images and the excessive posting that you do and yet you go ahead and post a pic of something completely off topic.  Maybe if you cut back for a weekend some of the heat would die off?  Instead you (purposely?) feed the flames and invite more criticism.  This one is of your own making!

I'll bite and probably beat GP Unit to this.  You have a car equipped with emergency lights and stickers.  What gives?  I thought you had a disability (bad back), poor vision, partial color blindness and by your own admission, shaky hands.  How does someone in your condition have a job as an emergency services worker?  I'm sorry, but you're not my first choice to have come and rescue me from a burning building, chase down a robber or give me emergency medical care.

Right in the middle of Trains and Locomotives I got a PM asking, "I am a little confused as to who is the fool, you or Geep Unit?" Well, I figure that if people are having trouble telling who is who then it is time for me to vacate this topic and proceed to other fields of endeavor and leave others to stand in judgement of Geep Unit's out of focus photographs taken with his hot smokin' $75.00 ebay special autofocus camera which obviously is having extreme difficulty autofocusing.

Thanks Jim, I am rather proud of that structure.  One of my very first pure scratch built efforts.

Here is the inside.

The sign is a photo of the actual sign shot as close to straight on as I could manage.  It is glued to styrene sheet.  White LED's are used as the back-light and the individual bulbs are made from fiber optic thread poked through holes I drilled in the sign.  It took forever, but I think worked quite well.

That's a good job on the pines. Mine always come out looking bad. Having shaky hands doesn't help.

Two points about this garbage that used to be Weekend Photo Fun:

1.  The hobby is model railroading, not photography.  Not everyone can or wants to do professional-grade photography.  We're here for model trains.

2.  If you don't like the photo, drive on.  Look at the ones you do like.  No one is obliged by law to comment on all photos.  If there's a show on TV you don't like, you don't watch it.  Same here.

Enough said.

I have been away all weekend and come back home for a look at the forum and I see we are in melt down mode?  Al, as always I enjoy your layout pictures.  Too bad you can't be a regular contributing member as your talent for modelling would be a valuable addition to the forum.

Not a whole lot going on my layout this week, except this little scene which seems appropriate considering what is going on here.
