27 times he has replied to here so far. 27 out of 156! He is another point. I have about 50 pictures of my train layout and since it is WPF I just would like to know if I should post every damn picture of it that I have? And not in one shot but about after every three people reply then post another one and another and another. Gives us all the pictures in one reply. Once I figure out how to post pictures I will go to town too and no matter how my layout looks I would like to hear ONLY great replies ok? Thanks
P.S> Any guys ready to volunteer their $10 a person to get this guy a new camera? I havent heard replies about this yet. Where are all the "We are the world" supporters. LMAO A decent camera at Walmart 5 mp, a kodak or Polaroid on sale for only $89. Thats it so all you need is 10 guys to cover $10 a piece and Jeff will have a new camera then we can tackle his obbesive posting after that but its a start

Jeff,
I never said you should not post because your camera was cheap. I said that the pics you were posting were of poor quality. A cheap camera can still yield good pics and an expensive camera can yield poor results. Its learning how to use it and what its limitations are that lead to good results.
There have been defenders of yours who have said that they like your pics and that you should keep posting them. One said, to paraphrase, that it wasn't like you were posting the same pics a million times. The earlier post was to show that you were. Maybe if you weren't so busy trying to post every picture you have you would have realized you were posting duplicates. The other post was constructive feedback as to perhaps why you were getting por results.
I could post dozens of pics. I have taken probably 75-100 or more this weekend. But before I posted any of them I reviewed them and selected the ones I thought were worthy of posting. A lot of the pics I trashed. I took them experimenting with different camera settings to see what the results would be.
Sometimes, honesty hurts. I've already agreed that the way Tretonizer put things was out of line, but the main thrust of what he was saying needed to be said, maybe not in that way though. I guess the other question to you is, do you post pictures to get feedback on your modeling or do you post pictures as a way of validating yourself? This is a hobby in which you can spend a lifetime learning, but if nobody is willing to tell you that what you did is only so-so and that you can do better and instead you're only told everything is great, then you never learn and grow.
Jeff, here's an open invitation. I posted 8-10 pics earlier in this thread. Please pick one, any one of them, and give me your constructive criticism on it. I'd like to know, from your perspective what's wrong with the photo or the models in it and the techniques employed in taking the picture.

Terry,
Getting back to the subject at hand - layout photos - that's a great model of the Banker's Club. The whole town looks just like I remember it. Maybe your version is a little cleaner though. I had to wipe off the soot from the toilet seat before I could use it. OTOH, I got to watch a coal drag headed up by 6 SD-40's (this was about 20 years ago) so the view made it all worth it.
Now, just to irritate another poster here for multiple postings, here's a picture of Courthouse Square in Hillside:
Here's a little wake up call. Trentonizer, you have 14 posts.
7 Are ranting and whining at poor Jeff.
Come off it wouldya?
We're tired of it.

I can't say anything for the color/hue/saturation because I'm partially color blind. Blues and grays give me fits. Most shades of blue look alike to me and with grays I can dark gray and light gray, the shades in between show up as varying shades of black, white and silver. This also effects colors that have blue and gray in them. That's all for now. I wouldn't want to 'hijack the thread' as you so eloquently put it.
Hijacking the thread would be posting almost 100 pics, like last weekend. Responding to questions would be appropriate.

Whoops! Didn't see yours! Great night shots!
EDIT: People keep posting at the same time as me! I agree; GG.
Maybe there should be a WPF - Hi-res and a WPF - Low-res on coming weekends??? Those with dial-up connections would know with the Hi-res to expect to wait for the download and could go to the low-res and see what was there instead.
Just a thought.

Ty, check the earlier postings for more from myself and others before the current issues were raised.

I have a honest question: Does NS run some of their trains with a single engine? I ask because I have never been where the NS runs and it seems like I have seen a bunch of you NS modelers do that. Please clue me in.

I've seen some loooong NS trash trains arriving at South Kearny, N.J. with one loco on each end.

The guard rail is from Rixx Products, their Pikestuff line. I looked long and hard before I found something I liked and was easy to work with.

Great pics this week, but some of the captions were a little long.
well that didn,t work. now you can laugh at me

Glenn, you have to post a link for videos. Right click and copy the URL to a text box here, and then hit "enter"...it will be live and in blue when you post it.
Can I laugh on the inside?
TrainManTy wrote:Yup! I saw them. How did you get your camera to make it nighttime? Mine tries to make it day. I have tried adjusting the exposure time; but nothing shows except locomotive lights and the crossing lights that I used. I don't have any lighted buildings, so it doesn't look that great.
The first question is how long did you adjust your exposure time to? The little bit of light from the buildings and street lights help greatly. I set the camera on manual. I also use the highest f-stop to get the maximum depth of field, exposure time is the last variable. Exposure times vary from 2 -6 seconds. You should bracket your exposures, keep notes if you have to, and experiment to learn what works. I also tried quickly turning on and off the 60 watt bulb overhead. Not bad results, it gives a little extra little to the entire scene. Also, the longer the exposure, the less critical the actual number. For example, you'll see very little difference between 5 sec and 6 sec.
Practice and experiementation. That's were today's point and shot cameras have made things too easy. I learned photography using a manual SLR. You had to understand the relationship between f-stop and shutter speed. Nowadays people just expect to point at the subject, press the button and viola perfect picture. Night scenes and model photography takes a little more work.
