Hey I love the lite Sunoco sign JKtrains.  where is it from?  I gotta have one of those for my layout, they are realistic!

The Sunoco sign is scratch built.  It took a little thought, but I think it turned out OK.  I want to talk to a company about ways to manufacture them for retail sale.  There's a few things I would change if I built another one.  I could also build a monument style sign too, that would be even easier to build.

The trouble is; I don't have any lighted buildings or streetlights! I have some streetlights that aren't installed yet, and a few lighted buildings, I am going to hook everything up when I pave the roads in the town of Dooley. I will also add street lights then, and add crossing lights, I am sick of flagging the mainline crossing!Cool [8D] All I can say is....um...it's a shortline!Wink [;)]

EDIT: I meant Sunday; tomorrow is Monday.Blush [:I]

Here's a new photo. It's inspired by Jeffrey's B/W photo of his steamer.

Old Bob pauses from his pulpwood unloading duties at Snow Hill Lumber to watch a steamer fill up water while it's train is at the depot.

Sigh... first time in awhile that the WPF has gotten ugly!   Seriously guys (I won't mention names) STOP the ugly comments.  WPF is for exactly that... FUN!!! To quote an ol' saying: "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it!"

Jeff, please don't let these people bug you.  Your work is inspirational!  Thanks.

Glenn,

Be patient.  Sometimes it takes me several trys to get a video to link.  I edit it until it works.  Keep trying.

If I am not mistaken, this is the Kalmbach MRR forum.  The on-line place for a publication aimed at modellers of all skill levels, experience and talents.  It is a very sad day when any modeller feels inhibited to contribute to this forum.

How many lurkers do you think have read what has been said here this weekend and decided not to post anything in case it does not meet the standards of those that think they know better?

So some of you don't like Jeffreys photos?  So what, be civil and don't comment.  So you think he is posting too much?  So what, if it really bugs you send a PM and suggest he just posts the best pictures.

The bottom line here is that anyone should feel secure posting here.  This is not some elite group of modellers.  Many of us have grown up on this forum and have evolved as  modellers because of the encouragement and advice received here.  Let us not allow a few that feel that their standards are somehow better, discourage anyone from participating.

Glenn, to the best of my knowledge, you can't post a video like that.   An image, sure, but not a working clickable video.  You must find the URL and make a link to the video that we can click on and be taken to the site.

JK, I love that Sunoco sign too. That's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for instead of those corny Model Power gas station signs. Please give us at least a summary of how you did it, especially the graphics.

Jon, nice pictures and modelling as usual. I'm still trying to get grass growing between the grades to look as good as yours.

Too many other nice pics to remember in between the interuptions to WPF this week. Thanks to everyoe who posted pics no matter who you are.

Glenn,

Let's see if this link to your video works:

[Edit] There we go and a nice layout it is. Got to work on that CTC system though. Smile [:)] You have to pick the second choice. "Direct Link", and copy and paste it here.

Jeff, you keep on keepin' on.  I've seen crappy photos of great layouts, and great photos of crappy layouts.  Some of your low angle shots are terrific, even if they're not publication quality.

I've got a nice expensive camera, but it can't get as low as yours, partly because I'm working in N scale.

Frankly, I'd rather see a few extra shots of you really enjoying your trains than hearing a pop-valve go off from someone who won't post their own work.

Some of your shots remind me of these shots I took one or two layouts ago...and two cameras ago...

Consider these my contribution to the garbage heap.

I've was rumaging through some old pictures and found some photos of my previous layout. It was called the Linus Ridge RR and filled most of a 2 car garage. I had all of the track in and had just started in earnest on the scenery when it came time to move...

Carbon City yard on the Linus Ridge Railroad

Sorry for the poor picture quality, this was predigital days and I scanned it from an 3.5 x 5 print. It also did something funky with the color that I couldn't correct.

Cheers,

George

Okay, I don't think any of you know but I am presently in Hawaii on the big island for work.  Today being Sunday, I was naughty and missed church and went up the coast to a train museum.  That's right the big island did have trains at one time to haul sugar and passengers.

Here are some Photos:

The last photo is the highway that was built over the trustle.

The museum is called the Laupahoehoe Train Museum.  Sad for me it was closed though the sign said open on Sundays.  I guess Laupahoehoe was the end of the line and the museum was where the station once stood.  I'm not sure if I am totally correct, I would know more if the darn place would have been opened like it said it would be.  Kind of neat to see that there were trains in Hawaii.

I have two shots here, same subject, same lighting, same conditions. The only difference is that they were shot with different cameras. Both shots recieved the same editing.

First, from my old camera, an Aiptek Pencam.

And second, from my new camera, a Vivitar Mini Digital camera.

I'm sure you'll agree, the new one is much better. BTW, the plaster is painted gray, the new camera makes it white for some reason.

Jeff the 2nd one is much more clear, But first one seems to take half way decent distant shots. But not very good close ups.

Glenn,

You almost got it. You need to copy that "direct link" shown in the second box to the right on Photobucket. In your post here, put the link on a separate line like this:

http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u44/calcity/?action=view&current=TRAINROOM1.flv

Then hit enter and put in any other text you want. If you look at

"glennhttp://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u44/calcity/?action=view&current=TRAINROOM1.flv" you'll see that your signature got mixed in with the HTTP link.

Yes I tried the second link. copy and try to paste  but I get a message saying firefox does not allow copy/paste. give's me a link to a way to fix but I keep missing something. Maybe tomorrow I can find a 6 year old to help me. What i don,t understand is why it works on pictures but not video.I will keep trying. I'll get it sooner or later.

I tried getting this as clear as I could but you know how it is. The red writing top left is Fox Chemical.

You know Jeff, I've seen all of these great pictures and never asked: How big is your layout?

How big is my layout? It takes up most of an 8 by 14 room. The same room where my computer and kitchen are located.

Here's my track plan.

Jeff, I think your camera might be getting confused in trying to autofocus with all the things you have in the background, like that windows A/C unit. Try putting a piece of light blue cardstock or masonite behind scenes with no model background and see if that helps the camera focus better.
