Where you can see the wood in the first and last pictures...that's where water is going to be. A harbor. And the styrofoam peice jetting out is going to be a pier. I don't think I said before, but obviously i model HO. And I'm a big sucker for weathering rolling stock =)

Coborn35 yeah i remember when you guys had the Minnesota North Stars. Glad you have a team again. They're young but getting better. I can't talk much crap about the Wild though cause it seems they have been in the playoffs more the past few years than the Kings have =p oh well i still love my team. that's what it's all about right?

Pictures coming soon everyone....

I wish I had more space! The layout takes up half of my bedroom and almost blocks the closet. There is just enough room for the bed and dresser with a little space to get to the door to the hallway.

Welcome guys!

Bennett: Sound interesting. I like the SP too, but not in that same era. I like the 1970s-1980s.

David: I wish I had that kind of space.

Hello, I am david. I am 14. I do not have much of a layout at this point. The bench work and the top for a 5 by 10 layout is done. Now I am working on my track plan. I want a setup with two ovals that connect with crossovers in both directions. The inside loop will have 18" radius curves and the outside loop will have 22'' radius curves. This will all be nicle silver Bachmann ez track. The inner area will be for my yard and stub tracks. At this time I only have 2 locos. An Athearn gp50 and a Bachmann gp35. I want to get more but money is tight. All the stuff for my layout was given to me as a birthday present from the neighborhood. One family brought in the plywood, another brought the 2x4's, 1x2's and 1x1's, still anothercontributed tools. There was also a joint contribution of $500 in track and scenic materials.

WOW! Awsome photos! Most of my equipment is too old to post here; they're all 40-footers and other oldies, except for about 5 or 6 modern cars. I've phased out wooden cars, stockcars, and iced reefers, now I just need to replace my 40-foot boxcars, 30-something foot coal cars, and get some shorter (60-foot) intermodel cars. (my autorack is too long, and my 2 double-stacks don't work and have duplicate numbers.

I'm glad I'm modeling a shortline; most modern day railroads don't have SDP35s, GP9Ms, F-units, and leased Conrail C40-8Ws. (I only have one of each.) Right now, one is in the process of being re-painted by my friend, and the rest need to be patched or repainted. I will probobly sell the C40-8W eventually, it's too big for my 22" radius curves.

Hey there my name's Bennett. Thought I'd represent a little west-coast flavor. All you guys seem to be out east, or modeling it anyways. I'm down here in Southern California. My favorite railroads are ATSF and SP. I'm 17 and work at my local hobby shop in the train department (dream come true plus i get a discount!) I'm currently dismantling my old layout and building a new one using the same benchwork. I'm basing it on ATSF/BNSF in the mid to late 90's in San Diego, California. My layout is an 11x8 around the walls and peninsula..sorta lol I'll put some pics up tomorrow hopefully. I enjoyed everyone's postings! Look forward to more!

Max, I wish there was a smilie for drooling cuze that's what I'm doing right now. I love that Wc equpiment! I really like that Fromer Norfork and Western SD35. I also like WC 6660. Those are those "odd" locos on the WC. Like 3018. That's an odd one to have too. Well I hope in 2 years that the Historical seocity will have the Lee Yauky House Finished. The I'll be old enough to join the MR "Club" they got. I just wish the "club" wpuld moe into the curch across the street. Then they would have more room.

Mowing the lawn was my main source of income normally too; at 15 bucks a week I could survive. But I haven't mowed in almost exactly two months now, so not much money coming in there (it's been so dog gone dry in Wisconsin. We just finally got about 4 inches of rain the past few days, and with more predicted, hopefully that'll mean the grass will grow again.) I've been making money other ways though, doing odd chores my parents want done. Still enough to survive on. I suppose I ought to get a job, but it's just so nice having summers to devote completely to relaxing...

Nice photos there too Max. The GBW RS27 actually has me drooling more than the WC stuff...

Here the lawn is really high and wet; it's hard to push the mower; when I came inside, I was dripping with sweat.

Oops, off topic. Sorry.

Yeah, I got a realiable source of income too. Mowing lawns, just like you said. But it will only work if the weather is right! Right now it's so dry.

I do too! I curently owe 7 dollers for the rest of my DCC decoder; origanal price was $25, I paid the rest off; and I will finish tomorrow when I mow the backyard. I also have a $25 gift card to a bookstore, which I will give to Mom in return for $25 in cash. I still need to finish most of my layout's scenery, and replace all my 40-foot RR cars with modern freight cars.

I can earn $21 by mowing all our lawns, so I have a reliable source of income.

Bonjour Ya'll (Southern French),

I am 16 and my signature explains most of my modelling focus. I also like the Southern (Hence my Ps4 avatar) and the N&W.

I don't have a layout yet, nor hardly any engines and rolling stock, but money is now starting to flow steadily into the Smoky Mountain & Southern Railroad's bank account and constuction from Knoxville to Pigeon Forge will soon start (with much selective comepression).

The railroad is now in the works leasing a Baldwin USRA Light 2-10-2 from the Southern and ordering 1 USRA Heavy Mikado and 1 ex-Norfolk and Western 2-8-8-2 Mallet (Life Like Y3).

Cheese

Nick! :)

Great stuff everyone! I like your layout, MilwaukeeRoad! I would reccomend a team track, you can load/unload almost any type of car there, and all you need is a parking lot for them to transfer the load to trucks.

I don't use sound, because it is too expensive to equip my  entire fleet with it.

I have a 12 by 22 foot layout, which has a 7 track yard, a bunch of passing sidings, and a 4% grade on a pass; it has a yard job, a local turn, a through freight, and a piggyback train, the last 2 alternate directions every session.

My railroad merged with a few other  freelanced railroads, forming the New England & Atlantic Transportation system (NEAT) The other railroads in it are created by other teens I know.

Max. Not giving out my last name.

North Shore Terminal and Transfer is my railroad, freelance. Other than that I model Missabe first of all, with GN coming in second.

Hi guys!

My name is Brandon, I'm 17, and I model the CSX in HO scale mostly in and around Western-Central Kentucky.

Here's a picture.

The layout is far from finished. I still have the "blue desert" (to quote pcarrell) thing going on.

It's nice to see that I'm not the only teen into this stuff. I only know of two other teens in this town (Hopkinsville, KY) that like trains, and I'm good friends with both of them. I Guess it's just not a "usual" interest for a teenager.

You can see my videos and pictures at the sites listed in my sig below!

Hi guys. I thought I'd drop in again. Yesterday I got a cab ride in Narrow Gauge D&RGW K-27 464  and today I got to ride the Tourist Line's 65 Ton diesel. They are probably going to put my K5LA on it for a month or so, becuase the M3 on it needs to be rebuilt

Hey guys. My name's Noah and I'm 16. I model in HO Scale, and model a couple of Wisconsin Railroads. My primary interest is a regional railroad known as the Wisconsin and Southern, as can be seen in my avatar. I also model my own freelanced shortline railroad though, the Appleton, Rivermoor and Keenville (ARK), and have a couple of locomotives from the WC, BN, Wisconsin Northern, and others. I've got a 8 x 16 L shaped layout, though I don't do much with that anymore other than run it occasionally. I belong to a local model railroad club out of Madison, WI, and so I have a module that I display at local train shows with my club. I've been devoting most of my time to that lately. I also enjoy superdetailing and custom painting locomotives, so I've been doing some of that lately too. My latest project was these two Wisconsin Northern GP15s:

This should be a good compliment to the existing Teen Railfan place. That seems to be mostly prototype stuff, and this one is more for model railroaders.

This is a track plan I've been looking at for while and need some help deciding. I am using Digitrax and sound. Looking JUST at the track plan, what are some possible industrys I can serve on here?

Now that I think about it, Its more like 4x9 with an extra 2' at one end. My room has a really irritating vertical beam that cuts into the space I can use, which is why i made the surrounding area of the pole an access hole to reach the far side (LOL) and the basement window (because my room is in the basement, also serves as the train room/landfill). I actually drew up a sketchy plan that I can scan so everyone can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Mark: my layout is all switching, so the 22" is unnessesary. If I have space, I'll consider it.

WCfan: instead of those SD45's, I'll go for some SD40-2's instead.

Looking to have more fun with the trains after I shove away the landfill on my desk! LOL

Along side that runs my own made up shortline Eastern Maryland http://www.freewebs.com/easternmaryland/ (the site needs to be updated, since then we have aquired a PRR SD40 and a few more cars Smile [:)] , and we have expanded into mainline service)   I actually have 2 layouts, both in the same room, one is a 1x11 the other a 4x8, both running off a Digitrax zephyr. To see both here is my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/mattgin

Kevin, go for 5x9. 22" radius don't cut it.

I looked and MB Klein is still reserving the big boys... I hope they can until I get the cash for one.
