I used to study in the Geisel Library at U.C. San Diego and yes, it is named after Dr. Suess. If you've seen the old TV show "Simon & Simon" there was a shot of this rather cool looking building during the opening theme.
My father used to know a fellow architect named William Dingledy. His real life architectural firm was named "Bill Ding Design."
