I couldn't begin to tell you how much your comments mean to me, gentlemen.  It warms me greatly that you have taken the time to compose thoughtful compliments and well-wishes.  While they tell me a lot about the way you regard me and my service, they tell me as much about the quality of the membership on this forum.

I won't run away, I promise, but I'll think twice if a bunch of you do leave. Laugh  Deal?

Warm regards to you all, and ever gratefully,

Crandell

Aw, shucks, t'weren't nuttin'. Ya deserved it.

Crandell,

As I've said to you before in private I'll say hear in public: Ya' done good, Bud! YesYes  It has been a real privilege to serve together with you here in the past as it allowed me to personally grow and hone my own diplomatic skills by your example.  Yea, we made some mistakes - no argument there - but we learned from them.  I know that Norris and John have and will continue to greatly benefit from your tutelage behind the scenes.

Okay, the switch has now been officially thrown, Crandell.  Back the steamer up into the siding and enjoy some well-deserved down time.  Glad to know that you'll still be around. Big Smile

Gratefully,

Tom

Thanks for doing an often thankless job.

Those of us who have been around a while remember the "dark days" when trolls ruled the weekends after the MR staff went home.  Crandall's work as a modeler / moderator helped end all that nonsense.  We're all grateful.

Crandell... Crandell?  I know I've heard that name around somewhere.  OH YES... I remember now!   Wink

What a fine job you have done over the years you've been moderator and I'm pleased to count you one of my bestest online friends.

What can I say that hasn't already been said?  You've done a great job and your soft-spoken diplomacy will be missed.  Now that you don't have to be glued to the computer so much, you'll be able to spend more time on your modelling efforts and to get out and enjoy what I consider as one of the most beautiful areas in Canada.

It's not easy moderating a forum. It takes a special person to put themselves between a rock and a hard place while trying to remain neutral. Thanks for your hard work.Bow

Geez, I poke my head back in after a lengthy absence to see what's going on here, and this is it?

Crandell, I can confidently say from knowing you on and off the forum and my occasional visits over the past few years that you have made this a much better environment than it was 4 or 5 years ago. I don't know where you get the endless patience and forbearance that comes so easily to you, but  that combined with your thoughtful, professorial tutelage have changed things for the better here. I can easily say you have a much longer fuse than I, and when dealing with online bar fights you managed to handle it all without ever throwing a punch. Black Eye

Enjoy your "retirement" (are you at least getting a gold pocket watch?), and post photos of that diorama. Bow

Crandell,
I'm grateful for all you've done for this community as well.  Like the others have said, you have maintained a steady hand on the controls and thus kept this a consistently harmonious forum - with just enough dissonance to keep things interesting.

I'll still look for your posts as a see you an excellent modeler and a fountain of wisdom.

You've done a great service here and you have more than earned your retirement.

Crandell,

now that you are no longer moderator, you WILL stay with the forum and post frequently?

Or will you be one who goes amongst the missing to a point where we all say someday down the road "Where has Crandell been? WHat happened to HIM?"

Hope you don't retire permenantly form the forum!

Having been out of town for a while, back in the UK to be specific, I am rather late to this party.  However, being late in no way lessens my heartfelt thanks to Crandell.

Dealing with such an enormous community, open to everyone, with all the hackers, trolls and simply those that are intolerant and rude.  Maintaining a fun environment, where you feel it is safe to have kids browse and contribute.  Helping out all those that struggle with technical issues.   And doing it all as a volunteer!   This was a huge commitment, in many ways an unenviable position to be in.  I think Crandell did a marvelous job and I am very thankful that he and others have stepped up to the footplate.

Crandell, enjoy your retirement and I look forward to your ongoing contribution as a regular forum member.
