Hello everyone,
I just wanted to announce that Crandell Overton (username: Selector) has decided to step down from his role as a moderator on these forums. On behalf of everyone here at Model Railroader and trains.com, I want to thank Crandell for his years of service helping to make these forums a fun and civil online community.

May I add my "thank you" as well. Being a moderator is often a difficult and sometimes a "no win" situation and "selector" has handled it quite well.
While on the subject, I would like to say thank you to Kalmbach, for supporting this Forum, which has been a major lifeline between me and the hobby.

I will add my thanks as well. Crandell was a good addition to the moderating group and I am sure he will be missed. Big shoes to fill for Kalmbach.
But now he can really speak his mind without worrying about how it will be taken coming from a moderator

Wow, I am kinda overwhelmed. I'm not often accused of being at a loss for words, but you fellas have me with a lump in my throat.
However, I do have a few things to say which I think only proper:
First, I am hugely grateful to our hosts for agreeing to try a user/moderator cadre. Now on to four years, I feel confident that Kalmbach and Model Railroader staffs have done well by the six or so men who have served so far. Maybe never perfectly, but as well as we were able.
Secondly, I am very grateful for you...all of you, even those with whom I have had sharp words. You kept me human, second-guessing myself often, pondering a reasonable next post, and busy. I was always glad to come here, even if I had some chores to do, like check the posts awaiting approval, checking the RA's, visit five or six forums looking for anyone who needed information or advice about the forum, and so on...you made it my family, and you can be sure I will never be far away.
I also feel very fortunate for the collegiality of my fellow moderators. I was sad to learn that Tom felt the need to let it go because he was Numero Uno, the first selected by Bergie. I am entirely convinced it was a wise choice, and time has not proved otherwise to me. In fact we are good online friends with a ton of mutual respect. It leaves the two who are still working hard behind the scenes, Norris (Murphy Siding) and our own John Whitten. I know you will continue to support them in their service to keep your time here fun and dynamic...and a bit predictable in terms of the tone.
Finally, I thank Dana, Wade, and Alex for their supervision and good will, and not least their professionalism. They made our work that much easier by responding to our technical needs and providing us with Corporate perspective when the way ahead wasn't clear to us.
I will be around, and even enjoying a bit of modelling for a change. I am building a diorama with a great deal more thought and care that went into my layout. I hope images, when they are taken, will show that I continue to develop in the hobby.
Thanks, again, for all your kind thoughts. It is encouraging, and makes my return to being a regular member so much easier.

You've had a very tough job and you've done it with the three Big C's IMO: Care, Class and Consideration. You've been an excellent moderator and you'll be sorely missed as such. Luckily, for the rest of us, you'll still remain a contributing member and that's a BIG Plus, especially for me, personally.
I can't wait to see the results of your projected Dioramas--if they're half as good as that beautiful layout you had to abandon, they'll be Jaw-Dropping!

Thank you Crandell for helping make this one of the best forums on the internet. Exaggeration? I don't believe so. I've visited several, though not all, and I believe this to be one of, if not the best one there is. Much has to do with the members sure, but it only takes a couple bad apples to spoil the basket. We talk about how this forum gets a bit nasty however it is nothing compared to many others break into mayhem quickly. I attribute that to the work you and the few others have done.
A couple times you have had to remove a post or two from me. Each time you took the time to explain why you did in a very civil and kind way. And each time, after reading what you had to say I walked away realizing you were right and actually glad you removed it.
You are a class act and a first rate moderator. You never seemed to overstep your boundries, push the envelope because you could, spitefully take advantage of your position or do anything that could be deemed unprofessional. You will be missed in that capacity, but I am glad not in our community. I always enjoy your photos of the layout and am looking forward to seeing your new project. Enjoy your "retirement".
Now get busy and glue your fingers to something!!!

You did a wonderful job as a moderator, cooling down the sometimes heated discussion while keeping the forum a vivid one. Never did I regard you as a member of the "forum police", but always as a help to give discussions the right direction.
I am glad you won´t run away from the forum and I am looking forward to your contributions and pictures.
