***Jim, I'm trying "quick reply" (have no idea the difference)...so anyway, turns out one of those runs is 220 (to the dryer I imagine). Not sure if that creates greater interference than 110 or not? Thanks!

Jeff, that's a great idea on the lights - now, I need to make myself a note to catch those lights on sale after Christmas. I'm guessing you trim the wires to separate the lights from the chain, right? Have you done some like that before, and if so, how's the heat on those?

I used Christmas lights in my structures for about ten years with hardly a burnout. The heat is negligible. You can grab them in your bare hand after even several hours of operation with no discomfort.

Thanks! BTW, I hope only HO Athearn have poor motors. I've had good luck with my (standard DC) N locos, but they have only been test run, so I'll cross my fingers. The Athearn Bigboy though also has DCC. (gulp)

***Jim, (incase the quick post didn't work) I discovered there is also a 220 line (for the drier) just a few inches from the satellite cable, also. Wonder if this might create more interference than 110? Thanks for any info.

I cut the string up into sets of two bulbs each joined by a common wire. This leaves two wires. By running an 11 volt current through these each of the 2 bulbs gets 5.5 volts. I'm using an old AT type computer power supply to power them, the same one I've been using for over 10 years now.

***Jeffrey, to make sure I understand, you have numerous "sets of 2-bulbs each", running off of the one 11 volt power supply, correct? Thanks for the info. Sounds like the way to go for both the wife's and mine layouts.

Evening Gang: Well I'll give it a try again. Mary Ann and I went down to get the cattle out of the pasture and one new calf wasn't with it's mother. We looked around the pasture and could not find it. I'm hoping that moma just has it hidden real good. We left the gate to the pastures open so she can find it. The last time this happened we lost the calf. It was killed by dogs or coyoties.

Jim what I ws talking about was when I'm typing my reply the line gets to the edge of the box or the right margin and it just keeps on going. If I make a goof and try to back space things just jump around, back and forth. Very confusing.

I also don't like having to go back to page one when you post.

As for the rest of the look the jury is still out.

Well the debates are on and Mary Ann is watching them so I'm going to go downstairs where we have Direct TV and look at some thing else.

I'm completly whiped, so I'll give ya'll details from the football game tommorow. I will say we lost 20-6 and that we'll be playing for third in the county next thursday. also, I got a cramp in my right calf muscle when the other team's offense was on their 20 or 30, accidently came out a play, then played w/ a hurt calf till they drove to our 40 or 30, then my left calf cramped up, and it just WENT. I had to hop on ONE foot from the hash mark (the white lines between the sidelines and midlle where they put the ball if it goes out to the sideline side) that was on the opposite side of the field all the way to our sideline. My calves still hurt. time to ice them.
