Seems to be working again! Thanks Kalmbach!Thumbs Up [tup]

Edit-SWEET!!! When using IE, I was having to type in my SN and password to log in every time. That seems to be fixed now too! Super duper THANKS Kalmbach!
I knew it wasn't my computer and IE like a lot of folks suggested.

Fixed for good?  It has been "on again", "off again" the last several months for me.

Some days ago I changed my profile that I should get emails when new postings came in, but I didn't get any. Furthermore during the last months I sent pm's AND emails via the forum to three members - and nobody did answer. When only one wouldn't answer I would say ok he don't want to, but three - that's 100% during the last months - it seems that I can't get any contact to other members except the open forum.

Nothing here yet. I'm on Verizon - anybody else here on the big V as well? Or is it multiple isp's?

I use a web based email provider. The in box and bulk folder (spam) never show anything for Trains.com. I belong to two other mrr forums and the email notifications always show up in the in box.

Hello Jackn2mpu:

I too am on Verizon -- FiOS. Do you think that has anything to do with the lack of e-mail notifications?? I have had FiOS for over 2 years and up until 4-12-2008 (when you started this thread) I received the e-notices.

How about anybody else? Although, I know Verizon has been working on "Upgrading" their portal. Hmmmm??

The portal upgrade you talk about happened after I started this thread, and I had actually not gotten any email notifications for a few days before I started this thread. I'm on their 3 meg dsl. I check their spam trap folder daily and have nothing in there related to these forums. I wonder if Verizon has anything before the spam folder, that the end user never sees, that stops emails? I've tried talking with their 'tech support' and have gotten nowhere.

Jack:

Thank you for the info.

I don't think I have a separate "spam trap folder" on Verizon's home page or e-mail section and really haven't used or set-up their E-mail section. I use a separate E-mail client which is Eudora Pro. I'll try again to find a "spam trap folder" to see if there are any e-notifications.

There's a Spam folder in the email section of your account on Verizon's page. I think by default it's turned on; don't know how long they store messages. Your email client doesn't matter when you check email this way. To get to the Spam folder, click on Check Emai, then click on Folders at the left side of the page; you'll see a list of folders, one of which is the Sapm folder.

Thank you for the "step-by-step" instructions. I found that the spam filter was on but I had never actully set-up the "spam folder." This is done by going to the rules section and "clicking" the "Save spam in the 'SpamDetector' folder" then clicking "OK." It hasn't shown-up yet -- I guess it takes a few minutes for the server to create the folder. I must go back there and create the "rules" and filters for dealing with spam!

Again, thank you.

Just got an e-mail notification dated 05-05-2008 on a thread (Space Mouse's "Handlaying Nightmare" thread . It is a thread that I had clicked "Notify" back on Monday 5-05-2008. Although, there are seven additional posts in the thread after the post that I got an e-notice about; but, I did not receive those notices.

Uh... Oh!!! Does this mean that I'm in for an onslaught of notices from all the threads that I had clicked "Notify?" If the e-notices were held in a cache -- maybe someone cleaned it out when they fixed the problem.

Hope this means that the "Notify" feature is now working and that everything is fixed!! Guess we will just wait and see.

I'd heard Kalmbach is changing servers and software for the emailing, and it's from one Microsnot product to another. No wonder they're having problems.

Mine worked for a while, but now does not work again.

Perhaps the IT department should be brought back on shore...

Ditto - I got a slew of notifications one day like 10 days ago and then nothing.

I think I've figured out who's in the IT department - Moe, Larry and Curly.

Perhaps it's fixed again.  I just got 33 e-mails at once  from the forum.

It seems these forums have several technical issues within them.

Email notification, or lack there of, being one of them.

Anyone use the "options" button at the lower left of the forum? When I hit the "Mark all read" button, the posts mark themselves "unread" when I return. Confused [%-)]
