The last piece of the Breitenbach station went up as well. Now I've run out of plywood to raise... btw, this is about the halfway mark!

I found a leftover piece of plywood that I can use as a base for the river. All I had to do is cut it to length.

I've cut the roadbed and placed the bridge. There's already a commuter train on it's way to the Breitenbach station!

No more progress, just a photo shoot! I wanted to see how the scene works with a train on the mainline. I have to admit I'm pretty happy about it!

That's going to be an impressive scene Michael! Heck, it already is impressive!

Thanks Dave, that's the idea Big Smile! Just imagine the river running parallel to the main line...

I had the laser running today to make parts for the second layer of roadbed. I installed a few feet this evening which included drilling holes for eight switch machines.

Michael:

Just out of curiousity, can you show us a picture of your laser machine and tell us how it works?

Thanks,

Dave

Sure, no problem. I'm using this laser: http://www.fslaser.com/Product/Hobby

Here's a picture of the laser at work cutting roadbed:

All you have to do is make a drawing of the part you want to create. You can use any vector drawing program like CorelDraw, DraftSight and so on. The laser installs as a printer so all you need to do is 'print' your drawing to the laser. Very simple.

I added the second layer of roadbed to most of the branch line and the main line. All that's missing now is the second layer for the Breitenbach station and the ramp to the viaduct.

The rest of the turnouts to complete the layout:

I'm still waiting for track which is still on some boat swimming to the US...

Enjoying this.  Have you considered joining ETE European Train Enthusiasts?  ETE.org.  Or are you a member.  I am excited for you.  Not often that we have a full, large sized Euro layout going on in the US.

I didn't even know the ETE existed. Thanks for pointing them out to me. I might consider joining up.

As I still don't have track I have no choice but to keep going with basic roadbed. The next area I'll be working on is the small town that sits against the east backdrop. I have decided to call this town Bad Adomeit. As far as I know there is no town with this name in the real world, it's a little joke on a friend's name.

For all of you who aren't accustomed to German town names the "Bad" in the name is the German word for "bath" and it is being used in the naming of spa towns.

The second half of the Bad Adomeit station is done. The total length of the station is about 14' 6" with a platform lenght of about 8' 7" which allows it to handle trains with 8 full size passenger cars.
