I don't have much to show yet but the visitors keep coming! Here's fellow modeler Rick Wade from Florida visiting me today:
Michael
The Breitenbach - Rosenheim Railroad V3
I can't get any modeling done today because I have visitors from Germany that originally wanted to see the G&AM and now had to make do with an empty room. Norbert booked his vacation when the G&AM was still up and running and he is a big fan of American railroads. Unfortunately he is about 2 months too late but we're still having a good time!
Bob Schuknecht I am enjoying watching your progress Michael.

I couldn't resist, I had to try and see how a train would look...
I made it all the way around the bend. I'm so glad these curves will be hidden in a tunnel! Next I will have to fire up my CAD program and design the roadbed for the big passenger station. That'll be a lot of work!
I've had the laser running all morning making roadbed. Here's the mainline taking shape:
Christmas twice a day! UPS delivered a box with 30 sheets of 3mm taskboard. Now I can make roadbed again. I can almost see track being laid !
It's Christmas again ! The mailman had these new passenger cars today:
The lighting for the Rosenheim peninsula is complete now:
I have taken some measurements. With the fluorescent room lighting I'm measuring 403 lux...
...and with the led lighting we're looking at 1288 lux. That's a big difference!
Another 8 feet! I'm almost done with the first peninsula.
I've started to install lighting to the other side of the Rosenheim peninsula:
I installed 9' of led strip across the back end of the peninsula:
I added another 6' of led strips today:
The Rosenheim station will eat 41 turnouts so I had to order a lot of them and a lot of flex track as well. Today the first shipment came in, the rest should be here early Novenber.
Added another 8' of strip lighting:
I've added another 6' of lightbox, installed 8' of led strips, the power supply and wired it all up:
Making some progress with the lighting:
I ran out of 1/8" taskboard today! That means I can make no more roadbed until more comes in. Luckily there are always other things you can do for your railroad so I started to make wood frames for the led strip lighting. This way the city peninsula will be brightly lit when I start laying track which is a good idea anyway!
To get a better idea about what I'm working with I unpacked a passenger train. I still think it's crazy how much space you need for H0!
To support the local economy I went and bought a few sheets of plywood. It took 5 sheets to cover all of the Rosenheim peninsula!
I'm in the process of designing and lasering all the roadbed pieces. I'm still getting used to H0 and it's dimensions but there is slow progress!
hardcoalcase I can only imagine the look on the face of the store manager at your local big-box home improvement store when you arrive! "Ka-ching!" Jim

They all love me!
Looks like a terrific layout in the making!
Today I have started experimenting with laser cut roadbed again. It was such a success with my N scale layout that I won't be using anything else ever again.
Because the taskboard I'm using doesn't come thicker than 3mm I will have to use two layers to get the necessary thickness. So I designed a lower layer that has markings for 2 single track pieces which then have markings for the ties to make straight track installation easy. Two additional lines centered under the rails help with drilling holes for feeder wires.
In the pictures all the pieces are just lying there, not glued together so they might be a little off but it shows the idea I believe.
I've cleaned the old background and painted it sky blue again. Now it's all ready for a new railroad!
...and now it's gone. This is now really the end of the Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad!
This is the last bit that still exists from the former G&AM layout, the Barnesville yard & passenger station. Now it's going where the rest of the N scale layout went...
I'm off to a good start today, the mail man just delivered a new electric locomotive:
I didn't post anything yesterday because I had server issues but today all is well ! I'm cleaning up the train room and in the process I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff. Now you can almost see the final shape:
