I have a question. As a rule of thumb, when you go to print some of these signs out, how do you properly size them before printing them out?

I am running HO scale of the mid 1940's to the mid 1950's

Thanks,

TheK4Kid

You can "Copy & Paste" the image to MS Puplisher, MS Word or any program that you can size, crop, ect  to what sign you want to use. I model the 1960's so most signs I post are pre 1970's. Older signs trend to "hang" around alot longer in small towns & villages. Also some signs are very regional ( Gas Staions, Grocery Stores, ect). Have fun using them as they will make your layout more lifelike.

LION wants more current signs, especially for his subway platforms. MOVIE POSTERS are very common on the subway, so I Googled "Movie Posters" and came up with a site that would give me as many free posters as I need.    BTW: Commuter Railroads are more likely to advertize Broadway Shows since people would of course have to ride the train to see the show.

If you want Movie Posters, look here.

These signs are great and thank you for posting them.  I have been trying to find one for the Community Cash chain of grocery stores.  It was a regional chain in upstate SC during the era I model, but have been unable to find a clear picture of the signs.  Would you have come across any?

Thanks,

jim

Thank you for all the signs. I do not know how to print them to ho size. I also do not have a color printer. Help.

Step 1. Copy & Paste image to MS Puplisher or MS Word or any desktop that you can size, crop, ect to the image. You size them to what scale you need.

Step 2. You can print image as is or how you have modified it. ( print mine on cardstock for a dull sign or photo paper for that glossy metal sign look)

Step 3. Trim sign & attach to building, post, wall ect. ( I use double stick tape )

If you do not have a color printer use someones.

No color printer, eh? What cave do you live in. No wait, I didn't say that, I don't have a color printer either. We are phasing them out across our entire network, B&W Laser is far cheaper! (Ok we do have a color Xerox connected to our network).

Use whatever software you use to size the photo to what you want, test it out with your black and white printer, and when you are happy with it, save the file to a thumb drive or a CD, and then take it to a shop that will print it for you. Some of the Photo Album web sites have a click on for you to print the photograph. You can look into that. Maybe you can print it out at the local library.
