I sure hope that's not the same guy who offered to sell you these for about half what they are worth with original boxes, inserts, paper and instruction sheets that you turned down:

Whistling [:-^]  It's running on FASTRACK now. Will be for decades to come.  Wink [;)]

that's just wrong on so many counts.

Out of curiosity I checked E-Bay. A few 736 locos for sale. Not horrific pricewise. But in various conditions from "just okay" to "fantastic". No "Buy it nows" available, though.

ezmike: No kidding. Even worse is the seller gave me the insurance number instead of the tracking number. Makes me uneasy that they sent it US Mail. Mail in my town is horrible to say the least. Every day that goes by I go deeper into worry mode Sad [:(]

Turbines are known to be excellent pullers. Good weight on the 671 and magnetraction on the 681/682. Yeah...after seeing what the postwar 736 is going for, I'll need to be adopted by Chief to afford one Laugh [(-D]

Dep,

The waiting is by far the worst part. I checked out the unit you picked up when I got home last evening and it is a beaut. I can see why you are chomping at the bit the get it.

I did get to check out my 681 and matching 2046 tender that arrived yesterday. It is every bit as nice as the photos showed even with the paint chip on the catcher (gives it character). I'm impressed by the pulling power of this loco. I'm no expert but I think I got a good deal.

736 Berk is very Cool [8D] I think I have an MTH version in NYC markings. The 736 is supposed to have great pulling power too.

Dep,

Congratulations! I don't think I saw the one you purchased when I was looking for mine. (But then again I was looking for a 681) I managed to pick up what looks like a beautiful 681 with the 2046 Pennsy tender (so what its a new repro shell I have an original spare) on 3/24 that should arrive today by UPS Ground from sunny CA for $202.50 plus $12.50m s/h with a full no questions asked return policy of price and shipping both ways. How can I go wrong? I'll let you guys know what it looks like. Can't wait to see how many cars it can pull.

Since I'm a visual in my hands kind of buyer I find internet purchases difficult. I'm always afraid I'm gonna get duped.

I'm on a steamer binge, 2026, 2036, 2046!

Mike

PS: The same model and condition steamer (allegedly) sold for $65 less les than 2 hours later. Was monitoring both. Don't you hate it? Just have to move on I guess. Prefer Buy It Now also, too many people jacking up prices with wild bidding!

Jim: Yep...had insomnia last night and went searching for it. Part 671D at Olsens. Price is $1.33. Thanks a ton for ordering it for me. E-mail on the way. I'll send you a check for the decal and part of the shipping when I get it. Thumbs Up [tup]

Dep, try Olsen's for the 6200 decal. Better yet, I'm going to be placing an order with them next week. I'll order one for you so you don't have to pay their minumum shipping charges ($7.00). Email me your mailing address. When I get the decal, I'll mail it to you.

Again, good luck with your 682! She's a beauty!

Dave:Ohhhhhhh....I getcha now. No, I saw some CC 671 turbines, but the prices were all pretty steep Sad [:(]. Plus buying the correct tender makes it even more pricey. They do have the good trainsounds and other features though. Thumbs Up [tup]

Bruce: The repro boiler front I bought off E-Bay ($9.95) definitely has the 6200 Keystone on it. Unfortunately I don't see them advertised right now. Sigh [sigh]

Dep,

Unless my information is wrong, the keystone decal on the 682 has the number 6200 on it.  This might be different than decals on earlier turbines.  I know it's only gonna be a runner but in case authenticity is important there seems to be a difference.  BTW...Nice purchase!

Congrats on the purchase.

Before I read the post, I was guessing from the title that you had maybe scored the CCI turbine. ;)

DOH!!! I actually missed that, but it's not that critical. Not sure but I think I can get the decal from a supplier. I know I can get a repro boiler front with the decal on E-Bay because I bought one for my 681 turbine.

I must confess the 2020 is NOT in my collection. I've had the 682 as my main priority and haven't looked at them too closely. You should check oiut the Williams S2 Turbines as well as the MTH and Lionel versions. Lionel is the most pricey...but also the LARGEST!!!!!  Any and all of them are fantastic pullers, though. It's not like I'm buying an original L-88 Corvette that has to be NCRS correct or something. ALL my locos are RUNNERS. The fact it's been restored is a PLUS for my purposes. Saves me the time and effort of doing it myself Big Smile [:D]
