Good Morning All from NE Ohio

Where the temp is 38 deg and overcast skies. Temps are going to be droping during the day and snow for tomorrow.

Chuck - be safe on your trip to the big City. Too bad you don't have time to stop by and see our layout in person!.

There is a TCA train show at the Parma UAW hall today. Chuck should stop by it.

WE had a greaat turout at last nights OTTS meeting. Even GregM made it up for the meeting. Good to  see him and his wife Karen.

Don that sounds exactly like what I have. It has still not gone away, and it is getting worse.

Well, it's not a good morning here. My mom came downstairs last night to tell me that she had to take my dad to the hospital. The reason is the same as it has always been. He has had this one illness for a while, and it is called diverticulitus (spelling?). He had many surgeries the past few years, and the last one was supposed to clear it up but I guess it didn't help for the long run.

Can you guys please say prayers for him. I remember when you all did during his last few surgeries, and it worked.

Thank you so much everyone. Have a good day.

Colin,
Will definitely say some prayers for your father.  My dad is a Crone's survivor and I know what he goes through and two of my friends have what your father has, living with it can sometimes be a very rough ride!

As long as you've been getting this Lizard Litter, you could have dug up some stone in your backyard and crushed it yourself!

Don't forget to post pics of it!

We are going to look at houses this AM, go to father-in-law's for a spell, then tomorrow more house visiting in the afternoon and father-in-law's in the PM.  Tomorrow AM I'm by myself for a few hours because wife has to look at bride's maids dresses!  Smile [:)]  So I get to run the trains... and maybe take some pics of the new stuff to post on the Sunday Photo Thread!

Well time to get ready for house hunting!  Some one get me a stiff drink! Smile [:)]

Good morning from a not-so-cold Crystal Lake where it's supposed to get sub-zero tomorrow for the next week - hope they're wrong. Funny how the body adjusts to thinking just about 32 degrees is warm. Spent the morning meeting with various men from church who are in tough places... Hope to figure out why the semaphore isn't working later today.

Don -may you get well soon!

Colin - I will pray for your dad too - my grandad had that - it was tough on him too.

Good afternoon,

Colin, Your dad is in our prayers.

Don, Our prayers also for you and your son.  Glad to hear the electric came back on so soon.  We used to have a lot of power outages.  About 5 years ago I installed an emergency generator that we removed from a remodeling project.  It is 12 KW which will not run the whole house but keep us from freezing and the freezer from thawing.  The nice thing is that we haven't had a power failure since it was installed. Thumbs Up [tup]  I run it every couple of months to make sure it is ready to go.

Wes, I agree that workshop in the basement is not the best.  I moved mine from the basement to my son's barn (heated part) that works great and it is within walking distance.

Dennis, Has the train restriction been lifted. Big Smile [:D]

John, The cake was very good, had a big piece with ice cream.  MMMM good. Wink [;)]

Laz, I doubt if there is any left by, not much there when we left last night.

Do you think she liked it?

Afternoon all!

Been busy the last couple of days and no time to post or read what has been going on. Cooler here (50's) with some rain and then back to the 40's when this front comes through.

Colin - we pray your dad gets better soon.

The kids are gone all weekend for a church event Evil [}:)]

Have a great day all.

Hi GIZ,

Well went to pet store to pick up Lizard litter(crushed walnuts as in CTT) and they had three sizes. 1 lb for 3.99 10 lb. for 6.99 or 50 lbs. for $20.  You guessed it got the 50 lber. Now I will take to school and spray paint light gray.

JELECTRIC, stopped at COOL TRAINS and talked to TED.  Nice GUY.  Your name came up and he had lots o nice things to say bout you.  I told him he was right on of all the complements.  Also told me of the big Feb. 10th train meet, he is having at his store.  Sounds like a good time.  I have to do some stuff in morning that day with wife but might be down in afternoon.  I bought an accessory pack of fire hydrants, mailboxes, and phonebooths from him today.

COLLIN, your DAD is in my prayers hope he can kick it.

Going to watch JAR HEAD on HBO now and run trains later.  It will be all diesels tonight.

Colin - Praying that your Dad makes a quick recovery.

Not much activity  on the Coffee Pot since I left the house this morning, guess everyone's busy running trains.  I think I spent more time running the store layout (Memory Station) to show customers, young and old, what TMCC has to offer than I've run my own layout in the last two months.  I guess that's considered a perk.

Good evening all,

It was cloudy and cold in SE Indiana today with temps in the 30s.  Tmcc man, your dad is in my prayers.  I hope he gets better soon.  You are a good son and he should be proud of you as I think the rest of us are here on the "pot".  Yesterday was busy at work and today was quiet at home.  Got the housework done, went to the YMCA, and moved the cars and trucks around.  Ran the 318E for a little while.  Got the title transferred on the car for Lucas.  Lucas had his girlfriend over last night and she was over for a while tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all.  Hope all get well soon [Don, Colin's Dad and any others].  Busy day.  Took defective switch to Miss Edna's.  They took the back off [wanted them as warranty].  Found two pins real close and that was where the voltage was getting on the frog and causing arcing.  Also the control rail on the siding side was not positioned right and was grounding out.  Fixed both things and works well.  They had another one someone had brought in as it would throw the wrong way when a train hit the anti-derailing [it was automatic derailing Shock [:O]].  Used mine switch to trace the wires.  Was wired in reverse.  Fixed it and I got it at a nice discount as they did not want to put it out for sale [said it was used]. Smile [:)]  Reinstalled switch and tested layout.  Had pin problem Banged Head [banghead], took it out, got pins mated and reinstalled.  All fine now.

Moved computer table [had to take it apart as so heavy and big] from Alison's old room and swaped it out for my little one.  Installed new printer.  This is important: you want a top quality printer and print photos from CD, chip or computer.  Better get this Epson R340.  Limited numbers left.  $69 and free shipping.  No joke.  Printed a photo from computer on regular white paper.  Looks outstanding.  Thanks Don Baker for the tip.

Dinner time for me.  No meal today but only snacks.  Later

Evenin' All !

First off CONGRATS on the younguns to Kurt and Reggie. A word of warning, now you have to watch out for "Parental Revenge". That's when the grandparents spoil the you know out of them and send them home. It normally won't rear it's head until they hit the toddler stage. Now of course I wouldn't spoil my ONE and ONLY grandchild but my wife his really bad. Big Smile [:D]

Finishing up replacing the 031 corners on the ceiling track with 042. What a pain in the Censored [censored] that turned out to be. The foam roadbed and track are down but the track isn't tied down yet. Ran a test without the screws to hold it down and it is absolutely whisper quiet, the only thing you hear with the sound turned off is the loco wheels going over the tube track joints. Instead of screws I think I'll try hot melt glue. On the curve sections I replaced I used carpet tape to secure the foam, seems to hold real good although to take some stress off I did make a few kerf cuts on the foam.

Greetings,

Got a call from Chief, regarding the printer.  I can't take credit, Epson did all the work, I just told him where to find it. Glad he likes it, it is the best printer I've ever seen.

Kurt and Reggie, Doug knows what he speaks of!!  My in-laws bought a car this past fall and want to give the one they had to Chris.  I said no last summer, want him to have to pay for a car.  So he is buying the El Camino, (still in the shop, being repainted) anyway their old car has been here since October!  I'm loosing the battle.

Went on ebay today and won (?) one item I was bidding on, and bought an item I didn't plan on.  I bid on some AristoCraft G scale track for the elevated shelf, 24' for $50 seems pretty good.  Typically sells for about $7 to $9 per foot.  Then I was looking at items that were going off soon, and especially those that had NO bids.  So looking at  an animated sign I ended up pushing the wrong button and did a Buy It Now!!  Well, I certainly don't want negative fedback, so I checked out the Ebay Store for this supplier.  And in order to defray the shipping cost ordered some scale newpaper stands, trash cans, and another electronic sign.  After all I had a feedback rating of 100% positive, based upon both of my previous transactions.

Doug,  You think the hot glue will work, eh?  I will be interested!  I plan on using some carpet padding as an insulator, then the track on that.  Hadn't decided if I was going to screw it down or what.  Maybe a combination of both screw and hot glue.  Minimizing the screws.

Hope all have a great evening and good day tomorrow.

Don

Don, Before this change of the corners the tube track was screwed down thru the foam and the noise tansmission was really BAD. When I did the test I was amazed at the difference. I have another idea but it would be a LOT of work and I would almost have to empty the room for access.

Good evening everyone.   Colin, prayer alread went up for your Dad.

Was a busy day, after not having slept for more than 3 hours last night, got the family up and made breakfast, headed to the Train Show.  It was mentioned earlier that the thing about train shows, "Costs $5 to get in, $400 to get out"  well, I beat that, got out for about $300.00.  Bought a bunch of MTH premier cars for $25/each, some scenery items, trucks, planes, people, and a switch tower.  I was pretty well set and then I saw a table of a dealer that had just about all HO/N and then on one side, had a few Weaver 2-rail cars.  Behind the Weaver cars, was a Lionel Reading Alco A-A set.  I asked the guy about it and it is a DC Dual motor set with figure and NIB for $80.  Needles to say, I got it.  As I was tallying up the items from the show, my bride gives me a sweet smile (that is when you know you are in trouble) and she says, "Happy Valentines Day", and I think I want another $700.00 table for the living roomBanged Head [banghead]

So John, no, I am not really off train restriction, but I do have to be somewhat wise with my purchases.  Should I get another great Deal, like what you clued me into, I would still do it.  I also sent off the MO for my "Watchman's Shanty" from the bay.

Then, we went to eat and just as we were heading home so I could get a much needed nap, had to go do an emergency case.  After 8 hours of surgery, I come home and read the Chief's little poke at me

Dennis W, where you going to put TPC and etc.  No layout done. Wink <img src=" border="0" width="15" height="15" />

Well Chief, I am going to put the TPC just at he head of the yard entrance.  That would put it mostly in Central area, and with most of the track close by.  I have quite an elaborate benchwork going on 3 levels.  The wiring is in progress and I have it so that the upper loops are separate and will not need TMCC, only the main level and I will have 4 loops with connecting turnouts.  This should allow me to do plenty of switching when I want to.

Anyway, before I ramble more, have a good night and I am heading to the sleeper car.

Dennis

Hi all,

Prayers for health and healing for those in need.  Had class today, talk about brain saturation!   Good day and safe trip.  Youngest daughter in from Cincy, always love having her home.  She bought me a set of cookie cutters in the shape of a steamer, gondola and caboose!

May start refurbing the 752 seaboard coaler we'll see.  I may take pics of the project along the way.

Good night all

Went by my nearest LHS and picked up some balsa wood and an exacto saw with a miter box.  Just 45 and 90 degrees, so will have to alter it a little in the workshop though, or make a screw in jig for myself.   I just think my regular tools would rip this stuff up too much - but will experiment.  No Lionel or K-Line catalogs have come in yet, though Disapprove [V]

Did get to run my train for about an hour and a half tonight and figuring out some stuff for wiring it better.  I need to get some track clips or something to keep the track from pulling apart.  I had it screwed down to just the foam underlayment before, but pulled all the screws to put on some white flannel for Christmas....  Anyway, the kids are sleeping at friends' house, so TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
