Jim, prayers go out for your daughter. Tough to watch them when they are sick. Chief, already lifted you up big guy. Hang in there (with your good hand of course).
My big plans for a meeting in Ohio have been scrubbed....my meeting will actually be in Macon, GA, just two hours away. Bad thing is that no good train stores nearby. Although, they do have the Rock and roll Hall of Fame.
As to Valentines, already got the bride her favorite chocolates. I do plan on picking up flowers on the way home, I am on call so we have to see. As to cooking, I learned while at the firehouse, so we will have a nice big meal. No alcohol, again, I am on call.
Anyway, take care,
dennis

Good morning/afternoon all!
Raining (we still need it so keep it coming) and cool today (40's), predicting some flurries for Wed.
White Death in Ohizo can mean only one thing - a huge GRITS storm. Buckeye - that nuclear power plant will be useful to make sure they are fully cooked!
Best wishes for those that are ill or being "carved" on to get better soon!
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
88 - thanks, but I'm actually starting to feel better now, soooo, indeed, I will be out in the muckity-muck the next 2 days. If I see fireworks coming from the northwest on Wednesday, I'll know all your preparations worked.
CHIEF - good luck with the hand. Is it the typing one, or the wiping one...?

Ordered two dozen roses about two weeks ago (I like to get her lots of roses and not spend half my paycheck, so I order them early and have them delivered on V-Day).Have to stop at the Hallmark store and pickup some cards and maybe that talking cat thing they advertise on TV.Since I get home 1.5 hours before she does, I will stop at the butcher and pick up some Filet Mignon for dinner... traditionally V-Day dinner menu:Appetizer:Italian Sausage stuffed mushroom capsSalad:Romaine Lettuce, shredded carrots, purple onion, walnuts tossed with a light balsamic vinegaretteMain Course:Filet Mignon, wrapped with smoked bacon, rubbed with secret steak seasoning and grilled to Medium Rare for me, Medium for wifeGarlic Cheddar mashed potatoesSteamed Brocolli with ThymeDessert:Warm blueberry pie with Vanilla Ice CreamIf she is feeling up to it we usually crack open a bottle of Chateauneuf Du Pape.

I'd try some Crokus Cloth !! Maybe !! Don't forget the potholes !!
Thanks, John
Valentines Day Buckeye--you bet.
Hallmarks sent to the three Grand Daughters first[with a little cash enclosed]. Small piece of Swarvoski Crystal for my wife [about 6-7 boxcars worth]. Teddy Bear with heart-shaped pendant on a ribbon and heart-shaped nose. She collects crystal so I never make the mistake of forgetting B-days, anniversaries, etc. But main reason is that she is on the mailing list and receives a regular catalog from Charles Ro.
Best wishes to the Chief. Hand serves as a tough tool when you bang it up, but when Surgeon cuts on it---so very tender!
Valentines day? Must be some kind of US holiday we don't have here in Canada. At least that's what I tell the wife!
Almost 25 years of living dangerously
I've already got Valentine's Day covered. I bought a bunch of V-Day cards and slipped a couple of gift cards into them. They will be deposited around the house so my wife will find them easily. Flowers are a given and if the weather is good, we will go out for Chinese food (her favorite).
And not for nothing, but the weather is supposed to be lousy here Wednesday. A Nor'easter is coming up the coast and threatens to drop a foot of white death on us. Hmmmm, that might not be a bad thing . . .

Good morning from a snowy and warmer Chicago where it is 31 and feels like 25. Had to laugh at the weather.com forecast that honest-to-goodness asks us to watch for mosquitos mid-week... there isn't a live mosquito within 500 miles. Still snowing a bit - maybe 2 - 3 inches. Nothing like the media panic storm alert - what a joke - I detest constant screen scrolls telling me it is snowing out which I can see out the window. Some switches were frozen this morning on the UP's 'track 2' on their northwest lines. My scoot actually beat the expresses into Chicago.
Jim A., May Julia get better soon. Sounds like a bug.
Laz, I use roof shingles for my single lane country roads (lotsa color choices, nice texture, easy to cut into curves, etc.
Buckeye, I watched that Blackhawks hockey game on TV - a very rare occurance in Chicago. They just can't do hockey well on video...
Can't believe Spring training is starting soon. Go Sox!
Hey! Is that Laz's Bear ambling down the street outside my office?

Thanks JOHN,
Don't know if I want to get that involved but it sure looks nice, especially the potholes.

Sorry to hear that Jim. I'm sure there will be a lot of us praying for her.

QUESTION for YUZ GIZ,
What do you use for a road surface? Like those found on highways and streets? I'm thinking of putting down roof felt but would it have the smell of tar?
Just got back from my errand for today unless something else comes up. I won a Lionel godola last night for .99 cents !! Plus 8 dollars shipping !! Oh, well !!
I think we're getting a snow storm but it's supposed to go more south of us than here. Going down Chuck's way !!
Hope everyone has a nice day, boy, we sure had a fun Sunday Photo Fun this week !!
Good morning from snOhio!!! There's about 1/2 inch this morning and by predictions were going to get a lot more....I hope they are as accurate as usual.....that would mean we won' get much more at all! Well.....off to work....they just called me in.
underworld
I've been too tired to even post on the boards! Saturday we started at 10am with the house hunting...House #1 - YEALCH!!!! Didn't even step foot in the door... AC unit was on and covered in 1 inch of ice!!! Can you say new unit in the Summer! House #2 - Wife didn't want to look at this place and realtor told us it would be too far of a drive, but I said, 'We are looking at this place.' Was very nice inside, small yard (1/4 acre), only can put up a 6 ft x 14 ft layout... House #3 - This place was about 3 miles deep into the plan, had to drive by houses that looked like lakeside rental properties to get to it. Nice, had an even smaller lot than house #2 (.2 acres). Small basement... House #4 - This place had one heck of a view, only 300 yds to Lake Linganore! House not completed and it the roads to get to it were narrow and cinder, not paved, also had to drive by similiar homes as #3.House #5 - See House #4House #6 - Nice place, but not snotty enough for the wife.House #7 - Nice place, awesome yard, no basement egress, no place for trains! House #8 - Nice house, a bit high for the ammenities.House #9 - Awesome house, on the upper edge of our budget, no place for trains, would need new kitchen.House #10 - This place was our second choice. It had an unfinished basement with lots of room for trains. FIL did not like walkup egress, house backs to other houses. Wait and see.We put an offer in on House #2. We have to do some wall patching where they had large screws for heavy pictures, and some painting. After a few months I have to remove the built-in 75gal aquarium in the basement behind the bar. Then later on we are going to remove the desk in the kitchen and install a double wall oven, and extend the center island about 3 feet (have to replace that one piece of granite). Other than that no work to do, except wife wants hardwood floors in the living and dining rooms. OH and the sellers left an awesome air hockey table! We also have 3 swimming pools we can use, a boat slip, dock/marina, tennis courts, basketball courts, hiking/biking trails, fitness center, and an 18 hole golf course! So I guess it is a good thing the train room is rather small... I'll have lots to do to get some much needed excercise! The space for the train layout is small, the max I can get is 6.5 feet by 14 feet. That is enough room for 12 of my storage bins to fit below it, so that is cool. We should hear by the end of the week if we got it. If we didn't then we are going to offer on House #10...#10 is quite a bit bigger than house #2, but house #2 needs a lot less work and has a lot more ammenities. My first car - 1982 Pontiac J2000. Friend and I took it mug bogging in the woods behind the HS and got the oilpan hung on a rut! We walked 2 miles back to the school in mud to call our parents! LOL! My first towing bill - $75.00... our mechanic got his truck stuck too and we had to winch our way out! Loads of fun looking back on it now!First car I owned - 1982 Regency - 308 under the hood... traded it in on a 1996 Geo Storm (worst car I ever owned)...Fife - hope your feeling better soon! At least you get to stay home and watch the snow fall! I get the pleasure of driving with all the other idiots tomorrow!
Mornin' boys. Just tea again today, pass the honey. Feels like I got hit by the BIG BROWN TRUCK. Then the sucker backed up onto my chest. Jeez.
Looks like a YATES front row for the 500!
Morning all,
Heading to the mid 60s today, only snow is on TV. Watching Boyd Mason on "I Love Toy Trains". Interesting fella and a whole bunch of trains! He has quite the collection. I just informed my wife that his place is only a short drive from where we will be staying this summer for vacation.
Jim, sounds like a great project. I have a few tenders that I need to do. As for spending private time with the kids, some of my favorite times have been with the kids when you couldn't do anything else and needed to just spend some quiet time. The fact that they are ill is the only downside.
Have a great day y'all,
Dennis
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 17 degrees with cloudy skies. Going up to a warmer 35 today with a chance of snow tonite and mixed snow and rain tomorrow. That sounds kind of nasty.
Today, is a usual chores day. Wife has to run some " girl " errands and will be gone most of the day. I will make out some bills and enjoy the brief peace and quiet. Maybe work on the layout this afternoon. Coming along good. Another week or so, and I'll have trains running thru both bridges. Have to plan out the passenger station on a curved section. That should be a blast. Need a curved platform. Hmmmm......
Well, Dining Car is here early today and is full of nice things. Time to sit down and enjoy breakfast. Love that waitress.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
