Good morning everyone.

Since this is page 442, I feel compelled to be a part of it. I once owned an Olds 442 convertible! The number 442 comes up quite a bit in my travels. I should play that number in the lottery.

Fifey, I am thinking about removing Dick's Diner and the adjacent Ranger station (log cabin) and adding something different. A nudist colony perhaps? I've also started painting the Fastrack roadbed, touching up the ground cover, and in an effort to quiet the layout, I am plugging all the screw holes in the roadbed with caulking. Sharp eyed forum members will notice a certain mayoral candidate we all know stumping for votes outside the diner. His ugly twin brother, Hank can be seen at the train station trying to get a free newspaper out of the paperboy.

Hi GIZ,

Hot and muggy here today already 75 and very humid.  Hope we get more  rain.

Bought 5 1/43 scale dragsters off the bay.  Got 4 of BIG DADDIES and a DON PURDHOME, great detail.  Also picked same 5 for brother.  Ran trains yesterday afternoon for about 30 minutes all good NO PILE UPS.  Also put the "girls" on the corner, they are happy now.

JIM F, Good book? Question does HARRY die in the end?

All have a good one.

Good morning all,

Jim F.  Got your email, many thanks I finally read about whether Harry lived or died, but not how so again many thanks to you and your brides effort.

csx John, you cleaned the pot now all that old flavor is gone.

It's going into the 80s today and 90s by mid week, no rain even suggested. I might cut the grass this week but don't know why since it isn't growing.

Just to be on the safe side, I saw the Kalmbach booth yesterday,I had hoped to meet Roger Carp but he was not there. One fellow I meet did have the same haircut.

Well, went to the New Church [in little leased space smaller than my downstairs].  Very fundimental.  Service started at 11AM and ended at 12:30 PM.  I then went to the Forks Restaurant with them [they had a room reserved].  BTW: I paid even though the pastor tried to buy mine.  Had two pieces of fried chicken, turnip greens, chicken pastry, half a plate of pork bar-be-que and cole slaw.  Plenty of sweet ice tea. Dinner [dinner]  Just got home.  Now at 5 got to go to a WAKE of a retired former co-worker who passed [80].  No work on trains today.  No running as half of the layout us taken up.  Might work on ZW and put in new core????  Day has not gone as planned.  Was good as met new wonderful people.  Hey, none were Yankees. Back to the land of Shatner!  1 day away then a week off before leaving for a month!  Not looking forward to that.  Haven't even looked at the trains since June.  Can't get motivated.  Hopefully after the month long work get away I can find an interest.  Take care all!

BTW Just picked up the September issue for the flight to the left coast along with a Shatner Novel.  Maybe if I spy him this time I'll have him sign it.  After all the needs of this one outweigh the needs of the many or something like that!

Hey Fife I'm back.  Folks were here for the weekend. Did you and 88 get the shed built?

We went to Hanover Pa Dutch festival yesterday. Lots of food and crafts.  Basically a long hot walk. Had a nice dinner at a little restaurant called Clair's.

Glad to see csxt30/John made some fresh coffeee and cleaned the pot.  It was starting to get nasty.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Finally got online - Laz, you've got mail!  We've got internet/cable/phone in one package.  Phone and internet kept going down, more and more often and for longer times.  Finally got a technician lined up for this coming Tuesday.  Then, got up this morning and no service at all, but cable Tv still working.  Got them on the cell and they sent the guy today.  He fiddled around with a multimeter and then went outside and replaced a connector - it was the wrong one, should have had a 12 on it and it was a 9 ???  Anyway, everything working now!  Took the layout down and put it all in the basement in 3 more huge tubs - hope to get something put together soon in the basement though!  Did not get any wiring or anything done other than laundry.  Did manage to catch up on Psych and Monk episodes from tivo - 2 new episodes each.  Then ate an early dinner with Dave and De Anna and we'll watch their kids Tuesday night after her surgery.  Picked up Sim City for my DS.  Hope it's a good port of the old PC game.  Got my eye on a 3469 in good condition, but might wait until I've got some 2x4's for the layout put together first.  With a little more room, I'm thinking of a "donut" shaped layout with a duck-under.  Maybe an outside O72 loop, inside O31, and then some O27 shortline too...  Lots of mountains, of course.  We'll see.

Popcorn later - TTFN

Good evening everybody,

It was a warm and sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s.  Was going to watch the Brickyard as I thought it was on ABC, but it was on ESPN instead.  Wife and I went to the latest "Harry Potter" flick.  It was a little boring, but otherwise ok.  I had the usual fare for breakfast, but there will be bran muffins on the dining car tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mitch,
Nope... Sad [:(]  We got the outer frame and supports in, but then it started raining and we retreated to the cool dry comforts of the house... I had a problem getting the lumber delivered on Friday (major miscommunication), then this morning (8 am) I went there to get their rental truck and forgot to check with Susan if she had her updated insurance card in her car... NOPE! So by the time I got back (10:15) they had already rented it to another person who had to make two trips with it, so I didn't get the lumber to the house till 2:00 and then had to take the truck back and didn't get started till 4:00, so we only got done what I had hoped to have done before Fife and my other friend arrived... Sad [:(]  Quite disappointed...

Fife - not only had we planned to build the shed, but I also washed Susan's Bimmer before leaving for Pittsburgh, so that pretty much sealed it that we were going to get a few storms!  Glad I could be of service in ending the drought... if I had known it was that easy, I would have washed her car a few weeks ago.

We had a good brisket for dinner tonight.  Cooked it for 25 minutes.  Marinated for 2 hours, then grilled in a roasting pan for 10 minutes, then removed from the pan and grilled for 15 minutes - turned every 3 - 5 minutes and basted.  Susan made some good sweet corn and mashed taters... Dinner [dinner]  Was our first dinner in the new dinning room!  Good Times, Good Friends, Good Food = excellent evening.

Had a real nice weekend.  Enjoyed a nice Saturday evening with family.

Today was a pleasant day also.  Had to work 1/2 day, then took family to see Harry Potter movie.  I havn't read any of the books, or seen any of the other movies.  But the family seemed to enjoy it.  So that was nice.

Watching the Godfather on amc, so am quickly developing appreciation for those in power.

So have a great day, looking forward to checking out the new catalog.

OH Yeah SPF had some really great photos.

Cowboy [C):-)]  I'm Back!  Chief, I hope you were able to keep the Yanks in check.  It was a successful raid above the border.  Got some yanks hooked on Grits and Tea.  I hope everyone has been healthy and is doing well.  Have not had a chance to go check all the pages since last week.

It was a great trip in both that I saw plenty of family and friends, and also, got to check out a great layout.  Two rooms and more classic trains in one private layout than I have ever seen in one location.  Also heard that a good friend just aquired a prototype of a very famous Lionel accessory.  Got lots of insight into the industry and I feel the direction will be  a good one.

Rich, I did get some canoli and I think I gained a few pounds on some great Italian cooking.

God Bless, it is great to be back,

Dennis

Morning All,

Brewed a fresh pot. Uh Umm good. Nice and strong.  We finally had some rain up here in G'burg, not enough to do a whole lot of good.  Probably enough to make the grass start growing again.

88 - Sorry the rain and such ruined the shed building party.  Maybe next weekend.

Dennis and Jim/jaabat -  glad to see you are back from vacation. Everyone needs some time to rest and recharge thier batteries.

Chuck and csxt30/John - Ole Smoke really had 'em covered yesterday didn't he?  The rest of the crew better watch out at Pocono if he takes that same car. Junior can't buy a break. The 24 had another respectable showing, the 48 is really having a time of it the last few races.  He'd have no luck if it weren't for bad luck it seems.

Well I better get going. Take care,

Mitch

Good morning all.

Back to work after 2 weeks off. I almost don't want to know what lies ahead of me today! Hot in here, and breakfast is fast approaching. Raining here as well.

The forum is acting up today. Some threads won't open. Some will.
