Trainsandmusic,
I wish I could be there. About twenty years ago we went to a concert/fireworks display for the Football Hall of Fame Festival. We are fairly certain the music was provided by the Air Force Band. It was OUTSTANDING! I have not seen any fireworks display that even came close since then. The music was timed to the fireworks display. Most impressive!
trainsandmusic wrote: Hello all. I would like to extend to all an invatation to those in the Fort Lee area on July 4. The Fort Lee Army Band (of which I am a member) is doing a July 4th extravaganza. Lots of good music from classical concert band (1812 overture with cannons) to Rock Band (God Bless the USA) and everything inbetween. The theme is magic and we will be doing many magic tricks including the old saw someone in half. We will have pyrotechnics and of corse there will be fireworks. I believe it all starts at six, (1800) but the rock band will be performing earlier. There will be booths and vendors all around. It will be a concert band performance that you wont soon forget. Best part is it's free.
Thanks for the invite but have to decline as my wife and I make it a habbit not to travel on holidays. To many idiots and drunks on the road for us.

Put up 4 more light fixtures plus boxes for the basement bedroom. Started running the wire and ran out! That means I've run 750 feet of 12-2+G Romex as well as about 150 feet of 12-3+G already. Needed to run to Home Depot for another 250 foot roll, but instead we got cleaned up and went to the Pasta House. I'm now full of scampi griotti (sp?) - wood oven grilled scampi on a spaghetti noodle pasta with olive oil and garlic, lemons on the side. I added some parmigon sprinkle cheese and it was great Have some Crispy Kremes for desert, but I'm too full to move yet. Wife will be doing the bills in a few minutes, so then I'll get to my new locomotive.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I attended about 6 ys ago when i was stationed there. It was a very nice event. band was really good and the show was even better. I will not be able to make the journey thiyr . to far for me. But have a great time and put on a great show!
Had a great day, wnet to church for first time in 20 yrs. It was enlightning. MAble enjoyed herself to, and we went to lunch and i mentioned that she could move in here if she wanted. She said she;d think on it. I brought her over and showed her were she'd be living. She really liked the space. So we will see. Dropped her off and came home and mowed lawn and went to bed for a little bit.
Going out to the garage to work on the ho layout. Have to get more plywood for the o gauge. Nathan is here and says"HI" to all!
catch you guys later
I didn't read the posts since the last time I posted, will try to catch up tomorrow.
It's been a long day here. Traveled to upstate PA to a funeral for one of Jean's relatives. Two hour drive each way. He was a very nice guy and I guess a lot of people thought so also as they had to put chairs in the aisles next to the pews in the church. It was packed. He was actually 4 months younger than I, makes you think.
Did run trains for a few minutes this evening. Finally tried out the CNJ boxcab and it runs great. Only has one power truck and I connected it to a seven car passenger train on the layout as a test and it pulled it fine. Of course it is a switcher and would normally be handling a few cars at a time.
Time for bed,
take care,
Evening. Lady ran down two people with her car today. She is now charged with murder after one victum died. No trains today. Watered garden and flowers. No rain in the forecast. Cooler though. No Jim A tomorrow until his internet service is installed. After that, his typing will jam the server.
Have a good one and gooooood night.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 52 degrees. Going up to 80 today with sunshine all day. Got a little cool last night.
Another busy day. I will take the wife to her doctor, for a follow up exam, and hopefully, she can start walking soon. Have a few errands to run and then, the household chores to do. No time for trains , again. Maybe later in the week.
Breakfast early. Dining car has been here and left for " points west ".
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
It was good sleeping weather as the temps dropped into the 50s last night and will be in the low 80s this afternoon. Ran the 384E last night, cleaned all the equipment off and put it back in the boxes. Ran the 10E a little and will run some of the cars with it maybe tonight. I watched the F-1 race yesterday, and did a little yard work. The daughter living in Virginia is moving back to Indiana and she was in town for a while last night on her way back to Bloomington. It was good to see her and the grandson. I see where "Points East" sent the dining car to "Points West" already this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

well im off to bed rented a bunch of movies.......take it easy today !
It has been awhile since I last checked in. Hope everyone is okay. I was restoring the 1666, but I started to lose interest in it, so I put it aside for now. I bought two black 6462s on ebay Saturday night, only to see that a green 6462 with the box and barrels ended at $9.99 yesterday with no bids. On an unrelated note, I am trying to decide if I should buy a car I was looking at. Here is what I posted about it on a Probe forum that I belong to:
"There is a Wild Strawberry Metallic LX for sale at a local bodyshop. I am unsure of the exact year, but it is at least a 1990 because it has the 3.0L V6 in it, and the revised front bumper cover. They are asking $500. The ATX is shot, and there is a sizable hole in the lower part of the door on the driver's side. The interior, hatch, and engine look clean. The odometer showed 66,780 miles, thought that seemed kinda low for tranny trouble. I asked the guy that works there if he could start it so I could see how it ran. He starts back towards the building like he was going to get the keys, then he suddenly turns back to me and tells me that his brother lost the key, and he is out of town for the week. I could tell that he was trying to put pressure on me while we were talking, so I thanked him for taking the time to talk with me about the car and I left. I feel terrible about not buying, because I hate to see these cars in a junkyard, or see them being parted out (no offense intended to anyone), but I have a bad feeling about buying this car. Something just doesn't seem right." What do you guys think?
I think you made a good choice. The car sounds like a lemon, i think i can smell it from here,j/k.
Sorry i also hate seeing cars go to thier death or picked apart espacially if they are pre 70's
Rule of thumb for me" If it sounds like to good of a deal it usaully is"
Also go with your gut! 500 isnt much for a car. you have to wonder how much you'd have to put in it to get it running, reliabally.
Zeke,
The cost of fixing it is holding me back. I have a 97 Probe GT, and the transmission went around 174,000 miles, and it cost about $2,500 to have it rebuilt. The LX I mentioned in the previous post is a nice color, it is somewhere between red and maroon. The body is decent, except for the driver's door. I should have asked the guy if they had the title.
JIM- you know i didnt know you had one already. So if the tranny is good its worth 500. if it dont run well swap it into your old on? or swap good endinge and tranny ito best car.
Bring it by zekes garage and we can have it all done in a day.I have a lift, engine hoists and stands and pleanty of tools! Cost you a 6 pack!
brent- transformers came out? Sounds like a fun day ! enjoy
HI GIZ,
WOW beauty of a day here at 63 to get to 78. Took advantage of the cool day slept in till 7, then ran a nice 5 miler. Today I put in the SWANSTONE shower walls and the the vanity, hook up all the faucets then put down the cement board.
STURGEON PHISH, I ripped my tndons in my left arm that attach to the bicept. Hurt real bad. Could not lift anything more then 5 lbs. Had to get operation. 3.5 hours on the table, to reattach tendons. Took some time to heal; but is fine now.
All have a good one.

Well i dont really sleep. its hard for me to sleep. everything i close my eyes all i see is bad things.mostly of the war, death and more death. So i try not to close them much. besides i got used to 2-5 hrs sleep everynight. most days i get 2.
its beautiful this morning. walked the beagle, mowed the lawn, changed oil in both the 55 and the mustang. Cleaned out two rooms in my house for mable if she choose's to stay here.
well im off to get breakfast, theres a ma's cafe type place down the road, got great biscuits and gravy
I'm hoping the trolleys win out too - did I tell you about the Chicago Aurora and Elgin shut-down re-ennactment at the museum this past Saturday? My buddy went. They shut down mid-day 50 years ago after shuttling commuters into the Loop and stranding everyone who had to find other ways home. Three full CA&E cars that actually ran that day went out to the Seemann Road stop, which was standing in for the Forest Park terminus of the CA&E. Everyone was let off at the platform and the cars went back empty. There was a nice talk about what happened on that last day of service and then the C&NW came to rescue everyone with the bi-level train.
hey i was wondering if you guys been watching the news? i dont usaully because i am supposed to stay away from war related items because of pdsd, anyways there were some bombing is england? crazy. and kansas flooding is insane, ever time i turned to peak it was something horrible.
