A beautiful afternoon 70's, blue sky, no grits to be found (or try to eat)Ahhh. Picked up my new railking engine today let it run a few laps and spilled smoke fluid all over it. The rubber on the  eyedropper had a hole in it and came out before I reached the stack. while I was there they received some Lionel christmas trains. This is June isn't it? Problem; when people come in at christmas time the favorite items are already gone. It's like trying to find winter clothes in Jan. Enough for now I'll drop by later.    Mich Jim

Did it turn green earlier?  If so, could be dying algie and that causes oxygen depletion.  Are they coming to the top and gasping for air?[no joke]  Next, feed them grits [not really].Wink [;)]  If that, aerate.

Chief - Our local pond and garden center said they could have told me exactly what the problem was with a water sample, but I drained it out.  Algae has been under control.  I think overfeeding was the culprit, plus that hot spell combined to clobber the pH.  Damage is done.  Added 5 cups of pond salt to help.  Pretty much, only the strong will survive.  Fortunately, I spend my big money on choo-choos, instead of koi.

Chuck, Hope your wife has a fast recovery.  Sounds like you have your work cut out for you.

Ran the new loco quite a bit this afternoon.  Now to re-lube it.

Hi guys - feeling under the weather today.  Stuck it out at work since I'm signed up for Overtime tomorrow, don't want them to think I'm a cheater.  Got my new 0-6-0, but don't feel like running it right now.  Also the PWC boom car, which has the side balance things and locks - very nice!  I have a cheaper version I got a few months ago on Ebay that I'll use for my upcoming diving bell project and I'll put the boom on a loading dock for my sawmill.  Jeff Kane says I need to use the screw to tap the motor holes?  I'll try that.  Picked up some 4-40 screws.  Oh, my buddy at work invited me to go fishing for a weekend - probably in a couple weeks.  He has a cabin next to a lake in Matoun (sp?) IL.  I told hiim I'll buy all the steaks, beer and chips etc.  I'm not sure who's driving yet.

Doug M - sounds like a cool book!  Chuck, glad your wife is home again, keep the meds going - it's harder to get rid of the pain once it has set in than it is to prevent it.  John, that is a sweet locomotive! Is that O31 friendly?  Chief, hope you feel better.  Vinegar and honey and get to bed early, that's Nana's recipe for the New England Crud Wink [;)]  Hi to everybody else and hope you had a great day.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' ENGLISH.  Cloudy & 70's today in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Got to work at the Heritage Fair today = where toothless, tattooed, big-bellied, shirtless drunkards (and their husbands) spend all day in the beer-garden, while their unattended spawn run loose on the grounds...good times.

Hope I don't lose every fish in the pond.  Geez Louise, 3 more floaters this AM.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful , sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 82 today, with sunshine all day.

I am busy, again, today. Wife is doing better. Slept good last night. She is stiil confined to bedrest. But, she can get up to do the necessary things for herself. I will have to mow grass later. It will be a rest, on the riding mower. No time for trains today. A neighbor friend is cooking up supper today and bringing it up to the house, later. Nice gal. So, I will get some relief from cooking.

Hope Buckeye is having a nice vacation. He owes me a fish dinner.

Dining car was here early, again today. Breakfast was self-serve.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Chuck

Morning all

Fife-Maybe the fish heard Buckeye was fishing and died of frieght.Shock [:O]

Chuck-Glad to here your wife is doing better

It is beautiful in Southern Ohio!  low '70's sunny, and the first Saturday I've not had outside commitments for I don't know how long.  Bride at work, 12 hour shift in Peds.  Looking forward to cutting grass, cleaning up my car, and some training later.  I think I'll start by setting on the back porch and listening to the birds while I do morning prayers.

Take and may God bless

Morning all.  Slow mover this AM.  Got to get going and hit Miss Edna's.  Chuck, hope wife is recovering well.  Called Jim A's wife [Mary] and gave her a Happy B-Day [bday].  Told her she was 25 and Jim was 55 [almost the truth].  She laughed.  She was weeding the yard while Jim was playing with trains. Good morning from a sunny and warm Crystal Lake where it is a perfect day for an outdoor birthday party for the youngest - I have my punch-list to prepare - I've also figured out a potential alternative layout for my hand-spun turntable I hope to experiment with later - but we have our town carnival too - that'll probably take precedence.. Fife, there were some good scenes in the L car if I remember that movie correctly. Glad your wife seems to be feeling better, Chuck. Have a good day all!

good morning to all my friends here this fine sat morning I bring,

i been up all night i cant sleep. Cant help think of charles and mabel. I had dinner with her and we talked and she cried and shes decieded to move to a smaller place. They had a rather large house. So she wants help and I jumped on that of course. So i will be helping her move when the time comes and she wants me to help her lighten the load as she puts it. She told me if i helped her shrink her house down and get her into a smaller place here in town that she would give me all of charles trains, every bit of it. i would do this for nothing i reassured her. I feel bad still and want to help. I dont expect anything. I still dont know if i can accept them. So this next week i will be helping her locate a condo or something like that. She will be selling her home. She said she cant be there without charles, I understand. So i may be busy for awhile. But just know im helping someone out!

takin it easy today, gonna drive to a smaller town today near by and watch some fireworks, other then that nothing planned. Gonna run my 4-8-4 later today but thats it!

take care everyone

Zeke take the trains not saying this out of greed but it will give you a great memory every time you run them. What your doing for her you can't put a price on and of coarse you would do it for nothing a lot would in your situation but don't look as it as payment look as it as a gift from the 2 of them as she knows he would love you to have them. Weather you helped or not. Just because all you did for them in the end.

Zeke - That is really great.  Again, how could she do it without you, certainly no help from the kids.  Regarding the trains. Remember what Charles sold you for $1, he knew what he was doing.  And he told you he wanted someone to have them that would appreciate them.  This is not a uncommon story, as seen on your other thread.  A lot of us have had similiar gifts.  Me too.

BTW -

The latest telephone poll taken by the California Governor's office, asked whether people who live in California think illegal immigration is a serious problem:

29% of respondents answered:
"Yes, it is a serious problem."

71% of respondents answered:
"No es una problema seriosa."

Don - that is so funny!  Scary-true and funny at the same time.  No emails back, so I'll mail a check for my switches today.  Still need to play with my new Lionel Lines 0-6-0.  I drove a screw right into my replacement motor last night trying to tap the hole with the screw - went in really fast, right down to the head.  Guess I should not have used my drill driver, but after about 45 minutes turning by hand, I decided it was worth a shot.  Motor wouldn't turn.  Pulled it and the screw actually stripped out and did not tap the motor housing.  Guess it was really cheap steel.  Got a new email off to Jeff today for another one with the proper screws, prefereablly pre-tapped.  Drizzling here today, but the sun is coming out.  Need to get some stuff done around the house - ttfn!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Zeke,  I agree with what's been said about the trains.  She'll know they're in good hands, and you'll be sharing the fun with your 10-year old friend, and others.

On another note, even though you've just met, make shure she's financially secure.  Charles may have been saving those trains for retirement, as a just in case.  It doesn't hurt to ask.

Zeke the good lord may have headed you this way so you could help her and look at this way she'll never replace but she may turn out to be a second mother for you and right now you both could use each other.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  RT - you are right sir (both on my goof and on Zeke's windfall).

Hey Chuck, hope Mrs. Blueberry is doing well and you got the lawn done.  I got a light fixture up in the hallway in the basement and wired the switches.  That just leaves the light fixtures for the bedroom and then the bathroom wiring.  Getting closer and closer!

Babysitting our friends' kids again - 2 Saturdays in a row.  Yippee.  On the good side, De Anna will watch our kids for about a week while our regular sitter is on vacation, so we'll get our own back then.
