Morning all,
John-I know exactly what you mean by getting confused wha day of the week it is. Working nights throws your internal clock a curve. You go in on Tuesday and go home on Wednesday. Time entry and holiday pay gets split at midnight. Oh well someone has to keep the process going.
Got about 25' of the footer dug. Concrete guy will finish for .60 a sq. ft. Still ahead because of saving $500 that I was going to pay for the ground prep I'v now doing by hand.
Ran trains last night, had the 290 NS 312 SIT SMOKIN'! Got a tipple set on the bay that I'm bidding on. Love to have one. We'll see if I've got deep enough pockets.

Very busy day today, got a haircut and bought reg gas at $2.98, I'm exhasted. Plan to cut grass tomorrow if it's not too wet, Oh work, work, work. And what about those poor souls married 10 years and still with the same wife,amazing. we have 48+and the worst part is I have to sleep with a grandmother. Think about that tonite, Sir James

Watched a bit of 'The War' last night (this 2:00am) I think that was the title... It was listed as something else, and then described as 'The War' during commercials. Interesting how big the fog of war was. Also interesting bits on the glider squadron.

Received the Disney Christmas Set w/ chase gondola... 2-YO can predict trains inside before we open the box. I'm really impressed with this so far. Cast Loco, and the cars seem to be of standard lionel quality. Really disappointed with the Walter Disney Christmas set by Lionel. Thin plastic including Loco, feel really delicate. General Loco still looks cool.
Tractor finished! New starter, and celenoid, plus spark plug, and the usual cleaning, sharpening, and greasing. Ready for the leaf season!

Well got rained out digging the footer for the garage addition. Ran into an existing footer / foundation from a garage that was there 45 years ago. May just dig down to it and pour on top if it. The new footer would still start 12" below grade and when you include the slab floor about 20" thick. It will also have rebar and mesh. I have a tendency to overbuild sometimes.
Getting rained out is letting me get some homework done and messed with the trains some. I rewired an old AF #2 transformer, and made one of the clip on test lights as described on pg. 47, # 19 of this month's CTT. Works pretty neat.
Back to the books.

Going over to Tampa and Ybor City to see the trolley cars tommorow(9-28-07), don't know what time yet as I may have a job interview in the morning for bus driving.
Replaced the traction tire on my T-1 Reading steam loco, had to take two small bolts out and move the side rod over a little, then the tire acted like it didn't want to go on but I got it on finally.
The rain let up a little today and actually got to see the sun for a couple of hours, also temp went above 80 degrees after lunchtime, not normal temp for this time of year should be 88 or better.

Rich; You are so right about our weather in Jax! We may have already met at the Train Works. That is my Local Hobby Shop. Dave and Rose are super folks. They keep finding the stuff I ask for and make me spend my money.(Ha,Ha). Dave and Chet were the ones that did all the work in my dining room. Dave has some pictures in the display on the counter.

Doug, the moon here was huge and full yesterday. Kinda yellowish, too. I didn't see it today. I thought it was some kind of omen, as my 10th wedding anniversary is today. It's been 3 of the most wonderful years of my life.
I thought of you last night when I was at the train store. They had a Thomas set boxed for $159. I thought you could do a lot better, price wise.

Sr James-Leting the kid cry is what I don when the grandkid starts in. Amazing how long it can last till the kid figures crying won't work on you. Now when she starts, it does not last near as long. You are right, when it gets quiet, someting is up.
Off today, hope to get a few things done, homework for class, clean up garage, and some dirt moving. Did sleep in and caught up on sleep. Needed that.
Chief Marty and others who had loved ones on the mend, how are they doing? Still praying for 'em.

Well yesterday wasn't a real fun day. Went to the dentist office as a follow up to the root canal of last week. He removed a the crown that was on the tooth, and then determined a SECOND one was required. That's twice in two weeks I have been deceived by them. First time a simple cleaning, then a followup. Definetly no fun! And when I think of the cost, I could have bought one of the best new engines for this price! Moral of this story is do not tell your dentist he is like a mechanic! Revenge is tough.
As a result did NOT go to train club, Chris and I went to a movie instead. After dinner consisting of grilled cheese sandwich. Saw Good Luck Chuck, based on the previews. MISTAKE! There was quite a bit of really explicit gross stuff inserted. Really unfortunate, the movie basically was funny, but the gross stuff didn't add anything, and detracted from the experience.
Going to get some measurements this morning for a couple of bridge/crossing supports. And take them to a local sheet metal fab shop on the way to work. Hopefully pick them up tonight. Will also see about some pictures (per request).
Chris and his girlfriend going to LA County Fair, this evening so on my own. Want to get the engine yard, and industrial area layed out, hopefully tonight.
Wife is currently in Altoona, IA (I thought that was supposed to be in PA?) they have about 350 miles to go, should be there today. Superior Wisc.
Chief/John Baker - That's fantastic! Another relationship developed as a result of the forum. This place is great!

Cloudy 60s/72 today, did get some rain yesterday and it was gloomy all day. Never got to trains yesterday 2 yr. old screamed for his mother the entire time she was gone. I couldn't get him to stop so just let him scream by the front door. I figured if I could hear him he was ok.My son say's he does the same thing to him if she takes the older one and leaves the 2 yr. old at home.
Brutus-I left the cupcakes on the front porch with a bag of chips.Someone else must have stopped by. I wonder who. Sir James
Morning all. Got this call at 4 AM. ???? Could Mom be sick? Frankie [on 2 PM to 2 AM shift] had problems [shot someone or got shot?]. Then this REAL English voice [not some Yankee garble] says, "Chief." I knew who it was. My bud John Baker. Was great to chat with him while the boys [dogs] ate their hot dog breakfast [their Mom started that years ago]. The oldest [8 yrs old] has to go out at about 3:30 to 4 AM each morning. Then he insists on his breakfast. Well anyway, since I was lost for words , John's phone bill will be a lot higher than he planned. Was good to talk to the Chap.
Now off to Mom's down east. Back this afternoon. Later
