Whats you forum? You know, it is getting hard to keep track of all my forums: TempoTopaz.com, BlueOvalForums.com, GMInsideNews.com, Trains.com, alstom.proboards78.com (Rails of the USA), IMCDb.org, GTAGaming.com, NewAgeMusclecars.com, MyCivicSucks.com and Explorer4x4.com (Serious Explorations) and Allpar.com (although, must admit I hate Mopars and am sort of a Ford advertiser on that website). Too much, and some must suffer. The ones I pay most attention too, or am on most are IMCDb.org (The Internet Movie car Database), BlueOvalForums (forum of Blue Oval News, a  Ford news website) and Trains.com.

I love western rails and would love to check out your site.

How about us all sharing a few unique websites?  Everyone has a few obscure sites worth sharing that others haven't found yet--maybe.  Here's two of mine:

martye.com

and

http://s-scale.org/linls/link.php?catid=1

send along a few of yours.  We should end up with some great sites.

Here is a cool site, that most of you probably haven't heard about. IMCDb.org, the Internet Movie Car Database. It is a website and forum, that lists cars from movies (year, make, model) with pictures and you help outby identifying them. There are about 300 users, with about 40 or 50 active users. It is an international site, the administrator is Belgium (His name is Antoine aka antp, loves Citroen and I almost always disagree with him), the majority of members are French or American (and the main language is English). The main members are: qwerty86, who is a Mercury Sable/Ford Taurus fan and he adores American full-size sedans of the 1970s and 1980s, Bebert who is French, Stronghold who is a Oldsmobile 442 fan, wickey and sixcyl.

I'm still here, although I work pretty much all day every day.... Most of my work days start at 9 A.M. and don't end until midnight, so by that time I'm all ready for bed and don't have much energy left for posting....

Not to mention many people are on vacations or taking care of family matters during this time as well.  It seems like the forum has slowed down all together (there was actually another thread about the decrease in activity over the summer) due to the nice weather and people's schedules getting busier.  Things will pick up soon (hopefully).

Doesn't mean that you shouldn't enjoy the forum still though!

We just had the heat wave here in Chicago as well.... The heat index got up to 109 a few times....

As far as my work, I have my 10 day vacation, and then I go back to work at DePaul University working with the incoming freshmen orientation programs.  After that I student teach in the fall, so all in all i have a very busy few months coming up to say the least.  We get 6 weeks of for Christmas break though, so starting in November I will definately work on my layout as well.

      MTL,

Good to see you're on here keeping things going.  Can you believe it's Ausust and school is JUST around the corner?

To that end, two questions:

1.  I wanted to know what folks are doing for fall/halloween/thanksgiving on their layouts OR any ideas for seasonal layouts you've been thinking about. How about a nightmare before christmas one that goes from halloween easily into Christmas?

AND

2. What changes are ahead for your layout this season...meaning this fall and winter.  New Buildings, layout, transformers, engines, rolling stock, scenery, etc.  "I wish I could(but may not get around to it)" items welcome here too.

Looks like my wife and I are moving to Ohio.  Not quite as secenic a locale as arizona, but the job is better than the AZ one.  That being said, I took down the last oval of track today and began packing everything up.  Sad day.  No real trains for a while.  Only pics and DVDs until we get this all sorted out.

My best to all.

GOD bless.

Luckily I don't start school until September.... Although I've been working there all summer so I never left as it is.....

I was going to start a Halloween layout, but the gas grills just went on sale this month, and while in the hardware store to pick up lumber, I found the grill I always wanted and got a bit side-tracked (no punn intended).... With that done, hopefully I will go back and get the lumber to start on a small layout.... My mom (I'm still living at home while attending college) wants a Halloween layout, but I may fore-go that and start with Christmas so that it can be done right....

Hopefully when I go on Christmas vacation for the extended period of time I will be able to start on my dream layout.  I was set to start while on vacation now, but was again side-tracked with other opportunities and interests.....

Congratulations on settling down... There are several members of the forum from Ohio, as I'm sure you already know..... And again as you know, sometimes in life you gotta go where the money's at, so again, congrats, and best of luck..... Make sure you mark the train boxes clearly so that you can be up and running immediately after moving in....

Take care!

well I got a new Santa Fe 0-4-0 switcher with a tender. I have expanded my layout with most of my track that I already have to a 7.5ft x 6ft. well I don't have the $$$ to get any more items for mine but I have some what of a collection of Model Trains mags that I could use.

For Christmass theme I am just going to set it up under the tree

Halloween nothing exicting just the same as I have it set up in my room

My birthday is also comming up in December the 14th. my dad is christian. my mom Jewish. Hanuaka and Christmass are in the same month along with my birth day so I have 3 chances, times the amount of gifts I get to expand my layout. plus my piggy bank is refilled around that time.

and is anyone would like to look here is my forum.

MTL,

So do you have your Christmas ham with a side of latkes? Just figure out an African connection and you can add Kwanzaa and have a quad gift party this December.

I know of some famous Jewish guys into trains, and the Christmas thing never got in the way of their hobby. I have a dvd of Mandy Patinkin's layout and he's a great guy to boot. Don't know who he is...rent The Princess Bride. He plays the Spanish swordsman on a mission.

adios,

    FOOTBALL SEASON BEGINS!!!

Okay folks,  pick your champions and BE on record now at the beginning of the season.  This is, of course only for people who care about football.  Disregard if you don't.

I'll start things off

1.  Pro--Steelers repeat as Super Bowl champs.  The NFC is so mediocre,  I can't pick their opponent.

2. College--this is a tough one--as all of the top-ranked teams have issues.  I'll go with Ohio State. I pick them beating USC.

We'll see how accurate I am.  I'm sure I'll miss both.

Great topic!  I can't wait for the college football season to start... There are always so many games on that there is never a dull moment.

1. Pro- I have to go with the Bears on a long shot.... I've got to support the home team!  And just to upset a few, I'll pick them beating the Packers...... hahaha

2. College- I'll go with Ohio State as well.... And I'll take them beating Texas (the Longhorns, not A&M).

Demon,

So you're a Bears fan.  In that mediocre division, I think you guys will win it going away.  For that matter,  I think you guys can get to the conference finals.  Too bad Cedric Benson is such a head case,  There's WW III going on around him leaving a preseason game early and him stealing Thomas Jones' starting job.  I love the drama.  I like the bears but find drafting runningbacks  from Texas suspect--see Ricky Williams.

Hope your layout is coming along.

Best wishes.

Yeah, there's usually drama surrounding most of our sports teams...... Same deal with Dusty and the Cubs, or Ozzy and the Sox.....Just seems to keep things interesting..... But as far as that goes, it sometimes gets too interesting (or trivial, such as the Benson situation now...)

I haven't had time to work on the layout as of yet, but this is going to be my last week of full work days, then I start my student teaching position so I will have much more time..... I need to get working on my Halloween layout.... So far it is just a 2x4 and plywood box, unpainted....

How was the move?  Have things gotten any more settled in as of yet?

Take care!

    Demon,

The move hasn't started.  My wife is in procees of getting ohio med license...2-3 months.  She starts in Nov.  We're trying to sell our house in IN now.  I hear lots of Chi sports on 670 and 1000 am out of chicago.  It's just about the only thing to listen to out here and I love sports even when it's not my team.

Yeah,  Benson doesn't impress me,  but i like the bears as a whole this year.  My Steelers will have a bad year.  No one to replace the Bus.  Deuce Staley is as fragile as a butterfly.

I'm  dying with my layout packed away.  I might pull out my O27 Marx and just run it in a small loop to keep my mind until the move.  Good luck with student teaching.  Is your handle Demon09 a reference to your school?  I'm guessing DePaul?

Oh, yeah, med licensing takes some time, as is my understanding of it anyway....

Well, with the Bears it's always questionable.... They can look great in the preseason but disappoint you in the actual season....  And the Steelers will probably have to go through the draft or a trade or two to pick up someone who can come close to the bus....

I know the feeling, I haven't gotten at my layout in quite a while either, and I'm just itching to start this Halloween layout.... Running the Marx should be a decent temporary fix... Either that or figuring out another track plan for when you get to the new house and redreaming your layout.

Yeah, Demon09 is reference to DePaul.  I'm starting as a sophomore this year, English major.

Greetings to all.  I'm in a rent a train flick kind of mood--my wife will be out of town for three days taking her medical boards in San Diego, and I'll have the little one.  So,  I need the names of some movies with good train action in them.  I've seen butch cassidy  and von ryan's express too many times and I need some other ideas.  Could you please help?

Also,  I wanted everyone( if possible) to check in and tell us how you're doing.  Some of you have been so busy with school/life/etc that we've lost track of each other.  Let's keep this great resource going.

PS--Newcomers: anyone with a pulse is welcom here.

Have a great day!
