It sure would be nice to help out in some way but unfortunately distance is a problem. So, if the fine folks of OTTS will allow I'd like to propose an offer. I will donate a scratchbuilt structure of the clubs choise, custom built by yours truly. Please choose something of reasonable size...somewhere in between an outhouse and Penn Station [;)]

I will foot the bill for all materials and shipping of the finished product. We can work together on specific plans, details and dimensions so that it'll be a simple installation. I know how finnicky and time consuming doing details like scenic stuff can be. I hope this offer will help see the new layout to quicker fruition.

Bruce Webster

BTW...This is in no way a ploy to get a foot in the door of OTTS. Frankly, their weekly blood letting rituals scare the hell out of me. [;)]

Thanks Burce, I will extend your offer to the rest of the members.

By the end of next week, we will have our tax emp number, then all donations will be tax deducable. Not that it helps you up North of the Border, or does it?

Tom,
I doubt a donation like this would be recognized by our tax system. That's not a worry though. I'm just glad to help out in some way.

Hi Bruce What a great contribution ! Can't thank you enough !
Maybe we'll all get together at that Hobby shop in Hamburg you mentioned with Tom Schmidt, down the road. I'm only a little over a hundred miles from there I believe. I used to go to Hamburgs' R/C airplane, 2 day events there.
Thanks again, John

Congrats to all the OTTS guys. As mentioned by the Chief, I would like to see a special thread on the progress from this. Chief, looks like we may have a reason to visit Ohio after all. I could swing by NC on my way nawth and pick you up for a recon mission. Perhaps we can sneak some plans to allow a Y6 engine to run. This is quite an opportunity, I am sure you giz will do a wonderful job.

John,
If the gathering in Hamburg isn't too soon it'd make the perfect venue for delivering the structure I promised. I'd feel a lot better putting it into the hands of an OTTS member rather than taking my chances with UPS, etc. It will be an honor and a pleasure meeting up with you all and helping out in my own small way.

Well, I got the green light from wifey this morning to go visit George's Trains downtown. I'll check in later and report on the damage to the bank account.

cheers

To the OTTS Executive Committee: We are all hoping you won't appoint Chiefie as your VP of Production...or it'll never get built!

Seriously, a lot of us might benefit if you let us know what track system you choose And Why, what switches And Why, Also the control system(s), etc.

Bravo!
Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

Great Bruce ! Hopefully I can talk Tom into coming & whoever else can & it would be nice enough weather for you to come in your Corvair, too ![:D] Our chance to see it ! Hope you get some goodies at the hobby shop today! [:D] I got my MTH motorcycles that Tom picked up for me in Akron last night !
Jim: we talked a little about Gargraves track last night. We'll see down the road if that's what we use, though .

Tom - maybe the folks at CTT would like to follow the progress of the layout from start to finish with occasional progress blurps in CTT. How about it Ogaugeoverlord?

Great news guys!

Having used all the major track systems, for this type of project I highly recommend the Gargraves track and Ross switches.

The isolated outer rails will make it easy to perform signaling and track control in the future. The Ross switches are the most reliable out there.

Best of luck team!
Roy

Bruce,

I would be happy to make the delivery for you if all can't get together. I work in Buffalo so I could meet you there. My son lives in Cleveland and I could get it there when I visit. That's a wonderful offer you made.

Roy, Your right about the Gargraves and Ross switches. I think the Ross switches I have are great. I put the 2500 switch machines on and they are very smooth. When I use them with TMCC they set a whole route with the push of a button and are very easy to wire.

I have 3 Gargraves switches on my layout & have trouble with 2 of them, & I just have them in the hand throw configuration. Now I saw Gargraves advertisement, showing a new swich with Diecast points . I wonder if anyone has seen these yet & if they are better. I would think they would be better, but I think Ross is still going to be the better one.

John, New member of OTTS (as of today) is coming over tonight and he has GG track and the new switches. He says they work very well and likes them.

The new OTTS layout will be GG stainless steel track with either Ross or GG switches.

Here are a few pics of the HO layout

An N scale layout in progress

TOM,
Very COOL.
How wide and long are ya thinking there?
Is the side door and enterance and exit door?
Are you going the whole square footage route or the inner circle route?
Just throwing some stuff to think about?
Looks great.

TOM,
One more thing to consider is having a EMERGENCY MEETIN for all OTTS members and have a big input of all DA GIZ.
We use to do this right before we had all are annual Canada fishing trips, usually in a bar that had great pizza and lots o beer.
Another thought?

Hey Laz,

I like that idea. If it's the right time I might even be able to make it over from Jamestown.

And to think OTTS started out with very humble beginnings in Tom's basement. I'm proud to say I was there.

Dwayne checking in here. Sounds like you guys hit it big. Where is the museum located anyway? I've never built a permanent layout myself, so following the progress of this will be and education for me.

Hope all is well otherwise.

Dwayne.
