Uttt Ohhhh Dr. Jon, spoiled weiner dogs that require constant attention. When I go see a couple friend of mine, Ginger, their dachshund, will not stop barking at me until I go over in the kitchen and get her a doggie treat. It's a ritual. She's an awesome first alert and spoiled terribly....she's has no clue as to the fact that she's a dog.

I take it that's a picture of '2 of your kids'??

Yes, Misty and Rocky, the wonder-weiner dogs are two of my kids (I have three of the two-legged kind). And, yes, they are VERY spoiled!

Just out of curiosity....where do they sleep?

All the friends I have that have owned them or have them now.....seems like the master bedroom is about the only place they like, other than roving at night to check on the 2-legged kids.[^]

Our dogs have their own room, so to speak. There is a small storage room off of the laundry room that is heated and cooled. We keep a cage in there for them at night (Misty tends to roam and get into mischief). Otherwise, they like the sofa that you see in the picture. My wife has allergies, so they are not allowed in the master bedroom. Occasionally we find one or both sleeping with our youngest daughter.

Sorry to hear about the wife's allergies. "Occasionally we find one or both sleeping with our youngest daughter." , you said....had a feeling about that. Dachshunds really do not like the cold for some reason....no hair on their bellies I guess.

I get Ginger a stuffed animal every Christmas to add to 'her babies'. Then when she gets mad or ignored, she'll go and get one and proceed to chew the stuffing out of its belly.

Funny thing, Luke, named for Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke, loved kids. He was about 98 lbs and a labador / golden retriever mix. Kids use to come by the house and knock to see if Luke could come out and play. 2 of the 4 kids had their own dogs at home penned up. Neighbors called him my shadow. Couldn't walk anywhere in the neighborhood unless he came along. He always slept on the floor next to me in the bedroom.

He became a house dog on his own seeing he broke into the house 3 times. Serious.
We could not keep him in a pen or on a running line. He would chew through the 12 guage fencing until his mouth bled and chipped his front teeth, climb over the top, dig under, break the 550 lb chain, snap the chain snap, or simply take his collar off. You figure it out.

He'd nudge me out of the way if there was a fire going in the fireplace and I was lieing next to it. That was his spot. Luke would literally cry for spagetti (tears and all), so he always got some with extra garlic powder added when we fixed it.

Anyway, I sure do miss that lug.

Beagles, I have had as many as 16 at one time. Rabbit hunted for 16 years. Moved and sold beagles. Will probably hunt some this year with the Wake Co Deputies [they have beagles]. Love to hear them chase a rabbit for a long time.
