Gee, somebody's got to start it, might as well be me!
Anyway, last week when I was buying the toaster for our "Toaster Anniversary" (People think 45 years is the "Sapphire Anniversary" but that's not necessarily true) I saw Target was selling replacement toaster oven pans. Now, our T-O pan is so old the only way I can get it clean and shiny now is to wire wheel it. Not an option, the "stuff" would go flying all over the workbench, and ME! So I said to myself "I better measure the old one so I don't get one that's too big!"
Got home, began to measure the old one and then it hit me, we don't HAVE the old toaster oven any more! It died years ago but we kept the pan for general use!
Anyone know what those brain-booster supplements I see advertised on the tube go for?
Oh yeah, in January I assumed office as president of the Virginia Train Collectors Association, no swearing-in with my right hand in the air and my left on a Greenberg's Guide, it just happened. So the wild ride begins.
I figure I'll just play cowboy and make sure the herd keeps movin' in the right direction.
Thanks for brewing a new pot Flintlock, and congratulations to you and Lady Firestorm on your anniversary.
Its a bright and crispy winter day here in the Northland. We woke up to 7 degrees this morning. At least it is above zero for a chanage. We are looking forward to 2 snow events in the next few days. We got about 3" here in Duluth Sat-Sun. Its always difficult to know if we will actually get snow or not because of the influence of Lake Superior.
I'm starting to work on the layout room again. I moved part of the collection out of the garage and into the basement. This is just the buildings and some accessories from the collection that were on the previous layout.
Enjoy the day

Northwoods - Break out the tube tops and flip-flops, eh?
Flint - Let me know when you travel to the eastern panhandle. I've got motorcade experience and a good working knowledge of dignitary protection.
Wow Northwoods, those shots remind me of when we cleaned out my late brother-in-law's apartment. Imagine all YOUR boxes filled with N Gauge engines and cars!
I shudder to think about it! What a job that was.
I showed your pictures to Lady F. She screamed and ran out of the room!
Do you own a Marx 1392 Lift bridge (or Lionel bascule)? Do you like ? And do you like rails and sails...? Friends, check out the New River Live Feed (South Florida). That RR bridge is shared by Florida East Coast and Brightline, and they don't exactly creep across that channel. Now where did I put those old tiki torches...? Honey?!
So fife,
We woke up to zero degrees this morning. I decided to take your advice and I have been sitting here looking at my Marx 1392 Lift Bridge.
And its working! The temperature has already gone up to +12 with a prediction of +34. This is the first time since December 24th that we will be above 30 degrees. Maybe you have a new calling.
Now where the heck did I put my tank top?
Not sure would survive around Duluth... And I ain't ever seen migratory flamingos headed to the Great Lakes either. But, cool bridge you got there.
Freeking HEAT WAVE here 43 at 3:00PM and full sun, feels like summer.
Been working on getting the step grandson into a first ride. His grandmothers old 2012 Jeep Liberty that looks like it has a bad head gasket. Her daughter got it hot. So they changed the leaking water pump but now it is blowing the water out and has the dreded blue smoke. They want to fix it if we can stay under $2,000. I have a guy coming day after tomorrow to look into it. A good friend that won't stick it to us. Looking at the Jeep it is worth the repair to me. After all what can you buy today for 2K? We will know more once we see the inside of the engine.
Other than that not much other than a meeting with some Thrivent money advisers tomorrow. Looking at moving our 401 to a IRA?? Got to look!
Very cool MARX bridge, I have never seen that one.

Well we are on the downward slide again Only 26 degrees this morning with grey skies and a wintery mix.
KRM,
I've been a member of Thrivent for almost 40 years. I have been very happy with them, especially now in retirement. Good choice.
fife,
You are right flamingos don't usually migrate this far north. We bring them in by box car:
Northwoods --->
I was looking for some of those recently while tree shopping.
Same me, different spelling!
Morning guys and gals. Sunny & 38 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Only thing on tap today is a trip to the hardware store for birdie feed, and maybe some DQ.
Yesterday was pleasant weather-wise, so Ms. Kelly wanted to take a ride, preferrably to some place she hadn't seen. I decided we could scout out Connellsville, PA, about 90 mins NW of Fifedom. The ride took us on the National Road past Nemacolin, and she spotted the casino (some other day). Got to Connellsville, and determined that the train watching spots are somewhat limited, the best being the new Amtrak station. Also tried to scope out a train store nearby, that apparently is now a coffee house (because what the world needs now is another coffee house...). There was a parked CSX eastbounded on Track 2, due to a broken rail down the line. Thankfully, there was a young railfan there with a scanner, advising there was a westbound due shortly. After taping the CSX train, we headed back towards Cumberland, for dinner at Cracker Barrell. And, yes, I've added a new wooden barrell to the layout...
Good MorningMore progress for Jenni - nothing is coming out of the chest tube, so that might be extracted today or tomorrow. She was much more alert last night. She got a sleeping pill and was asleep by 915. Went to Jenni's and got the piggy cage cleaned and left them with a bunch of hay. Frogs are well. Wawa chicken noodle soup, cornbread and a bag of chips for dinner and then bed by 1130.Normally, this would be meeting night, however, I will be visiting Jenni Sunday is gonna be a big clean up at Jenni's, need to finish getting Christmas back in the boxes and vacuum. Kitchen needs to be cleaned, that's after the living room is done.55F today and the SUN is out and bright. Cloudy tomorrow, Sunday high of 30F.Been looking at cable systems, and Verizon is not even close to Optimum for similar systems. Like $50!! Xfinity is out, they don't have some of the channels I want. Need to figure that out by March 1. Like I have time.....oy.
Fife - sounds like a nice ride - and nothing wrong with a little Cracker Barrell.
That's all for now - I'll check back later
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
anjdevil - Love hearing the good news.
Same here 'Devil, bless you both!
Thanks, guys!!
I just got a message from her Mom, Jenni is ASKING for PT, which is a good sign and good motivation.
I hope to see her smiling face tonight. Once that chest tube is out, I think it's game on!! Probably a rehab facility is next.
Good Morning Folks;
We have 3 more inches of snow from the system that passed through yesterday, with a bit more to come today. The weather person posted a graphic last night that showed the average snowfall here in the Northland for February through April is 100 inches. I am so glad I have an indoor hobby. My outdoor hobby is snow removal.
Have a great weekend
Here in the Richmond VA area we're having our typical sniveling hysterical winter that can't make up its mind what kind of a winter it wants to be.
Temperatures in the 60's today and tomorrow, then on Sunday temps in the 30's with possible snow Well, as the saying goes, "What are you gonna do?"
Good afternoon
More progress, Ms. Jenni looked much better last night. Hoping for better news tonight.
High of 60 today, Sunday a high of..........30!!! With 3" of snohio, great....
Christmas is 85% put away at Jenni's, did some clean up and put away last night, so bed time wasn't until 1 (dinner was at midnight). Hope to finish up that on Sunday.
Most of the trains at Mom's house have been consolodated in my closet. We have been purging a lot of things and mostly papers from 10+ years ago. I will need to find a place to put Mel's Drive In and my Plymouth Dealership someplace until I can get to my layout.
Still have a lot more to do before the house is set. I have one more room to do that has all my stuff in it then the family can go through it.
OK back to work...
Partly cloudy and about 50 here in central Mo. today. Going to be into the 20's for a high tomorrow.
Anjdevil, you are reporting good news there. Hope progress continues.
My porch project progresses. I have the roof deck off and I am removing the old rafters. The last rafter I removed, I noticed that the remaining roof structure was somewhat flexible as I was working on it. Today, I added some temporary diaginal bracing to stabilize things, so the remaining structure will come down at a time of my choosing - not when the roof structure feels like it.
The only train related news is that I renewed my subscription th CTT.
Mornin' guys and gal(s). Received a covering of snohizo overnight in WV. Not a whole lot on tap for today, might go trackside.
I did venture east to the train show at the Washington County Ag Center, and BOY did Fifey make out! Wasn't in the door 5 seconds and spotted 2 Ford Model T's (1/43), both for $10. Then a Weaver Chessie covered hopper for $23, and a couple of Lionel red push button switches for $10. But the best deal was a CP Rail Ltd freight set (1989 vintage), with matching extra dummy unit, for $125. Set engine runs great, pulls great, hardly any visible wear, half the cars appeared never to have been removed from box, and the yellow CP caboose smokes. I happen to know a certain curly haired youngster who will be gifted this beautiful set this year. The hardest part for FifePops will be not spoiling the surprise before that time.
Well done Fife! Man, NEVER pass up a train show, especially if it's in an easy drive distance. You never know what you'll find, even stuff you never knew you needed!
Great finds. It just goes to show that sometimes the best buys of the show are the ones that you see in the first 10 minutes after walking in the door. I sure miss going to shows. There aren't any in close proximity up here. I used to be able to make it to 2 per year and that was enough.
Well it was -22 when I got up this morning. We might make it to zero today. I'm glad that our church is still live streaming the service. Its very comfy to sit in our living room with the sun streaming in while drinking my second cup of coffee.
I'm planning to go down to the train office during the "event" today and run some trains on the floor. I finally put down some track so that I can have some train time, and to let our grandson show me how to run trains.
Have a Great Day
Greg

Darn right! Four years ago I found one of THESE at a local show on the first table inside the door!

I knew these limited-run trolleys existed, but NEVER expected to see one, much less down here in Virginia! And at a VERY reasonable price! ($75)
No, I didn't rip my pants getting the wallet out.
Flint - Are you going to Clifton Forge next weekend?
Northwoods - I had to reach for a blanket just reading "-22"...
fifedogFlint - Are you going to Clifton Forge next weekend?
Um, no. What's going on in Clifton Forge? By the way, that's a bit of a haul from where I'm at, the Richmond area.
I spent my day doing NAPPAP. That's a Negative Air Pressure Particulate Abatement Project. When you're sneezing your face off, you break out the vacuum cleaner and dust your train collection!
Flint - Sorry about that. Thought the C&O Heritage folks were having a show, but now can't find anything on it. Oh well...
pennytrainsI spent my day doing NAPPAP. That's a Negative Air Pressure Particulate Abatement Project.
I just read the above to Lady Firestorm. Know what she said?
"She dusted?"
fifedog Flint - Sorry about that. Thought the C&O Heritage folks were having a show, but now can't find anything on it. Oh well...
I guess I'm not going to Clifton Forge next weekend.
But I WILL check an atlas to see just how far it is just the same.
