Boo y'all! Finally have a couple days off, after being on the train forever. Had all three grandsons here Friday night, and the youngest princess was home for the weekend, so we got to celebrate her 21st birthday. To put things in perspective, she was FIVE when I joined the Coffee Pot... All that I want to accomplish today is watch the Martinsville race. And go trick-or-treating later...
Happy Anniversary KRM.
Kevin nice job on the barrels.
Happy 35th to you and Mrs.
I have gotten 1 & 1/2 shelves up more to go, not sure how many I will do in total.
Professional quality, my complements!
Hi, been gone most the last week, Wife and I had our 39th from meeting on Sunday and 35th of marriage on Monday. So been doing things with her. I picked up a very nice wine barrel. $80.00 Cut it in half to make her two new planters to replace two that are about 12 years and have given up the ghost. So is very happy with her surprise Anniversary gift. Two 29.5 gallon wine barrel planter halves. So I decided to stain them so they would last a bit longer.
Finished the barrels yesterday. Both are stained and I clear coated the metal rings. Should hold up for a good long time. That is about it from The North Bluff!

Good Morning and Happy Friday to those that have the weekend offFinished off the Halloween decor at Mom's, then headed to Taco Bell to meet Jenni for dinner.Called it an early night, I'm exhausted. After work, will be heading to Harbor Freight to pick up some tarps to fix the feral cat's house. Need to pressure wash the back patio and get that done.I'm thinking of cutting up a pallet to get the cats off the ground. Mom has a heated pad to keep them warm, Just trying to figure a way to get them off the concrete. Maybe get some hay under it. We're down to 3 from 13 ferals and 2 that are left are very affectionate. Mom's cat wouldn't tolerate 2 new cats in the house and I can't move them, they'll disappear.Windy and cool right now, rain later and tomorrow morning. Should be nice for Hallowe'en, but chilly. Not much else - we're declining an invite to a party tomorrow night, just been to busy, we need a breath.
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Rain blew through Monday night. Yesterday, we had rain and not much wind - wind today, which, as usual, will play havoc with the Halloween decorations....Met up with my best friend on Friday, he's in on being my Best Man and already helped me with the wedding party. I'll be calling him soon to help me with more stuff.A little progress on the Super Bee, Monday. It runs better and better.Spank - I thought Tyler would be home for Turkey day - Hope you get back in time!Yesterday, I FINALLY get a day to myself and I was up in the Train Attic.
Got some work done on the layout, the station area has snow and sidewalks, will need to wire up the street lights and mark out the curbing. Then I can go back to the other side of the street and redo that. Street is on the layout and I removed the Fast-Track grade crossing and will replace that with a regular crossing with MTH cantilever crossings, which I can easily wire into the track. I have gargoyle lights that don't work, I'll see if I can get them to work. The Lemax lights are back ordered and those available from any other source are triple the cost - Thanks, China!! I need 6, They were going for $7.50 a pair at Michael's. Amazon, et al, $24/pair. I'll wait, but that's what I needed to complete Spooky Town.I have my Winter Wonderland engine apart to replace the smoke unit, that needs to happen soon as it need to go back in the box and get ready for Christmas in 2 months.OK, gotta go back to work - I have no urge to work, but my bills tell me otherwise.....
Morning all.
Slowly trying to go thru what I have and downsize some also.
Evenin' guys and gal(s). Blustery in the Potomac Highlands. Production company on the train today, so I tried to look super spiffy. Even trimmed my nose hairs.
Tried out the blue and black bulbs in the train room, and they look fabulous!!! (Snap. Snap. Snap.) Spent the rest of evening shooting night video.
Leverettrailfan I struggle to part with things
Me too, but you know what? The more you do the easier it gets, especially if you can make a little money and get the stuff you really are looking for.
For example, at our spring show I sold a Conrail switcher and caboose combo that I had no idea why I bought it in the first place. Took the money and bought a Dreyfuss Hudson at the same show! I've wanted that for years!
(Had to do a little work on the Dreyfuss to bring it up to snuff, but that's another story.)
pennytrainsWow. Seriously cold eye of newt today. Guess that's why nobody's hanging around the pot!
I was able to buy another toy train today- a Lionel 6-18405 Santa Fe Burro Crane. Was with a collection that got donated to the museum a couple years ago which we've gradually been selling off. I gave away a heap of rusty O27 track I didn't want anything to do with. They were happy to recieve it, and I'm happy to have gotten rid of some clutter I wasn't doing anything with. I struggle to part with things, but I'm glad I could persuade myself to let this stuff go. Hopefully it gets some use.-Ellie

V8VegaI'v been watching youtube vidos by RBP Trains a guy with a nice Fasttrack layout and a lot of vidos.
Isn't he a nice young man? I found his channel about a month ago and binge-watched it! Here's a link. Everyone should have a look!

He's the father of two little girls, and I don't doubt in 30 years time he's going to be the fun Grandpa!
Here's another nice young man everyone should have a look at, "RJ's Trains."

With guys like these two around I have great hopes for the future of the hobby!
DJSpankyNeed to track down an ABC store since they sell beer and wine just about every place else.
You shouldn't have too much trouble finding an ABC store out in the "Peoples Republic of Charlottesville" area. The sophisticates and "Parlor Socialists" that inhabit the UVA environs do like their adult beverages as much as anyone else.
Prices? Not as cheap as NJ but not too bad. You may not find the variety you'd get at "Bottle King" or Shop-Rite Liquors.
V8Vega Fri. 76 Sat. & Sun. 74 My shooting buddy who died and I used to go to a popular gun show in Orange County fairgrounds. Our govenor and his party passed a law no more gun shows there. It brought in a million a year for the fairgrounds. There are almost no gun shows anymore in gun hateing Calif.

Not surprised. I'm from New Jersey originally and there hasn't been a gun show there in almost 50 years.
Honestly though, the only thing I get at gun shows now are heart attacks when I see the prices! Yikes!
Train shows are a lot more fun for me now.
Mornin' guys and gal(s). Cloudy and 57 in the Potomac Highlands, where Maryland's three western counties are in talks to join WV. Annapolis ain't gonna let that happen...
Been on the train just about every day, but it hasn't whooped me yet. Fall colors still haven't peaked here.
Purchased some blue and black bulbs for the train room, for some upcoming night train fun.

Wasen't the real ID to be required to fly starting about now? I haven't heard any more about it.
WASHINGTON – Today, April 27, 2021, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas announced the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending the REAL ID full enforcement date by 19 months, from October 1, 2021 to May 3, 2023, due to circumstances resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.Apr 27, 2021
V8Vega Wasen't the real ID to be required to fly starting about now? I haven't heard any more about it.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in Virginia the "Real ID" amounted to an enhanced drivers license. The problem was they shut down most of the DMV offices last year do to COVID and took forever to open them up again. Things were messed up for a while to say the least.
I'm not in any rush to get the "Real ID," I ain't goin' anywhere for a while that I can't drive to, which I'd prefer anyway. Flying's not as fun as it used to be.

pennytrains Sure! It's fun to feel like you own that 400E for the 99 cent opening bid even if you know you'll be outbid five minutes later.

Well wishes to all as always-My weekend was a delightful one at the trolley museum. Met some wonderful folks, saw some familiar faces and many new ones too. Had lots of wonderful conversations- I feel really grateful to have so many wonderful friends at the museum, and wonder what I'd do without them. It's going to be a little lonely once we close for the season so I think I'm going to be doing my best to be available for the work sessions during the winter. The electric trains are running strong, and I keep remembering when I look at them, about my plans to create a new layout with a more retro feel. Hopefully that's one of the projects that may get worked on in the coming months, assuming I can get my planning done.-Ellie
fife,
What an excellent choice of Scripture for the Chief. As you probably know the words of that psalm are paraphrased in the song "On Eagles Wings"

Mornin' guys and gal(s). A crisp, sunny day along the Patterson Creek cut-off. The fam just took off east for festivities at a Frederick Co pumpkin patch. I'll be headed south for conductor duty in Hampshire County. So it is...life goes on.
So many nice things said about the Chief. He was much more than what you read on the boards. He considered me a friend, and for that I was fortunate, and grateful. Psalm 91, for strength and perspective.
Ellie, Chief and a guy name Elliot started the coffee pot here. Last I heard Elliot wasn't doing to well either, not sure if he is still with us or not.
It's taken me a while, trying to find the right words... only to say that I don't think I can find the right words to express my conolences to the passing of the Chief. I am unsure if we talked much in the past but it doesn't take much to see how important he was to the CTT forums, and the community of toy train operators and collectors. I wish I had a chance to really get to know him before he passed. It's been a rough year for everyone here, with the ammount of wonderful souls that folks have lost. I can only hope that our community doesn't suffer so many more losses in the future- the passing of someone who made an impact on your life is never an easy thing to live through.-Ellie
Good evening all,
Just wanted to express my condolences here. Frank was a true Southern Gentleman. He will be missed.
Keep on training,
