Up in the train attic last night, found what I was looking and then some. Need to do a trash run up there, I have a few empty boxes that need to go.
I DID find my HO slot cars, some priced at $10.99, some are going for 3 times that much!! They are going over to Jenni's for display and new tires, once I find the right ones. I have a BUNCH from 1972 and some older.Unearthed 2 8633 Chessie steam engines 1 missing a tender, a 2035 and a NYC 2-4-2 with TrainSounds, a couple of new in the box K Line cars and a 50's era Lionel Lines tender - no whistle - in the box.Jenni came over for a bit and talked with the kids, we stayed over my house after we had Moe's for dinner.55F right now - low 80s later. Once, maybe twice a week, and then for about a half-hour or 45 minutes. Sometimes an hour if things are really goin' good.

Darn shop still has our 590i XUV now three weeks for a 2.5 hour job. She said two weeks when I left it there. Harvest season is not a good time to drop off things at John Deere for repair. AG gets all of the first shots from the guys that have the wrenches.
Been above normal for temps and dry. That will change soon.

I heard that the TX. company that owns that pipeline got a lot of free money from the goverment's big giveaway in 2019 and did not spend it on up-dates. Instead they did a stock buy back with "our" money. Go figure, big corp. Someone should be locked up!
Ran trains last night, swapped out some of the motive power and got both ZWs warm.

New house train room not as big as the old house, But as a whole, the house is bigger, ie bigger rooms and more rooms.
Kevin that you said about the Oil Company I would not doubt it a bit. there was so much of that happening with big companies. from what I heard.

Good afternoon!!Wow!!! What a trip to Strasberg!!! We both got goosebumps, such a massive and beautiful machine. The trip was great except a moron was with us with tripod to video just the sounds of the trip and kinda ruined it for all of us. We were literally 6' from the tender. Memorable to say the least. I had a nice talk with the engineer of #89, turns out he ran all the south Jersey lines from 30th Street Station to AC, Cape May and everything south of Lakehurst. It was amazing some of the things he saw and experienced. AND he took notes. I told him he should write a book.... undoubtedly our best visit yet. Took the last minute tour of the PA RR Museum (again) ended the night at Casey Jones restaurant. I had the pot roast (which was amazing) and Jenni had the salmon. Those that saw my posts on the Book of Face understand what we saw. Just an amazing day. On the way home, I stopped to render assistance to a 1 car MVA on US 202, I had an extinguisher on board, the car caught fire, I knocked it down until the "career" guys showed up. At least the Troopers were cool. Yesterday (and Monday) it rained so the yard work was put on hold. No parts for the Super Bee which ment time in the train attic!! Reorganized a few things so it's easier to get around. Yup, still "warm" up there. I brought all my Class J 746/Powhaten Arrow stuff to Jenni's after my Fireman's Relief Meeting.
I trimmed up the"sidewalk" and getting that ready for the street lights - will be painting the board in gray for the sidewalk and station parking lot. Once that dries, I'll stripe it for parking and set in the expansion joints. Wiring is straight forward, I have the 3V adapter ready, just need to solder the wires from the lights to the main power feed and plug it in. Mapped out the circle behind the Christmas Tower and ran the electrical plug under the layout. Once the circle and the sidewalks are complete, then that can be finished off. All the buildings will need to come off 1 last time to paint the sidewalks gray and glue the snow mat to the board. "Main Street" may become a boulevard with the room I have.Completed my purchase of the 3rd and final Mopar set - the Dodge Motorsports set - 1 of 3,000 made, got a great deal on it. Already trying to figure out how to display them as well as the N&W J class and the Powhaten Arrow set (we measured it 11.5' long). Found out that the engine - 6-11106 - was part of the Space Freight set. The chuff isn't working, so I may take it to be fixed. Smoke is acceptable at this point.Started decorating for Halloween at Jenni's - listened to the Yankees lose to the Saux.......Hockey Pre Season is in full swing

V8Vega I had a bad experience still kind of upset. My Del Sol has been reliable, I drive it all the time. I come out of Shakeys and it wont start, it won't crank at all, turning the key to the crank position and nothing. The battery is pretty new.

Dennis, my Ranger did the same thing about a month ago. Lucky for me it was in the garage when it happened. It was the starter, just like that dead with no problems till it died? In the old days they would give you warning before they quit.

Ah, the same thing happened to the wife's '84 Cavalier. She was at the supermarket not too far away and called me. I looked on the floor under the clutch pedal and saw plastic and steel fragments and sure enough, the safety switch on the clutch pedal assembly disintegrated. Told the wife what happened and asked, "Can you live without it?" "Sure!"
So I spliced the wires. Back in business.

Dennis,,, So it gets down to 50 and you turn on the heat. Some of us would just bake a potato in the oven most of us here would open the window. Reminds me of my cousin who moved to Fort Myers FL and when he came home when his mother died it was mid to high 60s and he was wrapped up like it was -20F. Guess it has to do with what your used to?
So I guess we have your heat. It hit 87 today and will again tomorrow, Winter will come late next week. Waiting for the cool down so I can do wood.

I'll tell you, we moved to Virginia from New Jersey in 1987 and we're STILL not used to the summers here, they can be a positive inferno with the heat and humidity! We don't feel so bad because even the natives have trouble with it! On the worst days for heat our neighborhood looks like something out of that Discovery Channel series "Life After People." Nobody's outside!
Spanky- losing people is hard. It goes without saying, but it really is true. It's hard to understand it until it happens, and suddenly a cornerstone of your life isn't there anymore. I'm sorry for your loss, wish it were possible to ease the pain. Take it easy, healing doesn't happen overnight. Brought in the recently serviced Lionel #41 with my three 'space and military' themed cars last weekend. The kids like to stop and start the train on the layout off and on rapidly until something derails. This little critter won't do that, too slow and the stops and starts are too gentle. Yet when I show up this morning the caboose is off the track, and the RMT Budd RDC on the display track is now well off of it. Not sure what happened, clearly somebody reached in and caused some trouble.Put the 1862 general and 'old west' cars on- the kids really love the car with the horses.Next weekend is time to switch to Halloween- going to be putting an all black and orange consist on the layout. Hopefully it makes a few folks smile!Life is very busy lately- between volunteer work at the museum, hikes with a friend exploring old railroad right-o-ways, and doing projects and helping at home, been a lot on the plate and less time on the computer. Harvested ~13 cups of silverberries for my dad to make something with, looking forwards to tasting whatever he bakes. Weather has been chilly but not too much rain- the folliage here in western Mass is looking lovely.-Ellie

So sorry for your loss Spank. Just about this time last year I lost my best friend, a great guy who was part of my life for a good 50 years. I think about him often, but try to remember the great times we had.
There was nothing else I could but take the hit, straighten up, and continue the march.
One of us has to carry on.

2245 A&B, Red lettered 2232, 2235, & 2236 No boxes for any of it. Found the contents for set # 2203WS With some books and paper work all in original boxes681, 2046WX, 6464 GN Boxcar, 6415 Sunoco triple dome tank car, 3520 Search light car, & 6417 PRR Nc5 port hole caboose. The boxcar box has part of a side torn off ( about 2" ) Also found my 1425B set ( no boxes ) 1656 (0-4-0) 6403B tender, 6456 Hopper, 6465 Sunoco dual dome tank car, & 6257 Caboose. It goes with my 1407B set 1665 (0-4-0) 2403B, 2560 crane, 2452X Gondola, & 2419 Crane Tender/work caboose.
Otherwise haven't been doing much went to Walley World.

Ellie - Cute story. I used to set up a Christmas layout at the bank Wifey worked at. Amusingly, she told me, it was the little old ladies that had to touch everything. They would also spend the most amount of time watching the trains. It kindled fond memories for them, they would say.

Plenty of rain this last week. Pushing the 5" mark and is raining hard as I type. I did manage to cut, split and stack about a face cord yesterday. Seven more and the wood shed north side will be filled. South side is full of two + year dry wood that I will be using this year. SIL wants to deer hunt tomorrow but looks like he will be rained out.
A note on Chief:
Just got off the phone with Shake and Bake. He had talked to Da Chief. Said he is in rehab and doing better. He is in good spirits because a 6 million dollar grant he had been working on with others for his community has been aproved. Good for him!
