Morning.  Fall like outside.  Wish I could be out in it.  Frankie on the way to come and do some chores for me.  Rested good.  Now to eat.  Actually have to force myself to eat.  PT guy coming at noon [about time].  Enjoy your day.

Sadly though parts of Wayne were bult in the flood plain, an even after having been there for 40 years I still see the same thing happening every time there's an event like this.

Yeah, there's some places they just shouldn't build anything, those areas in California that get torched every year come to mind in addition to the flood plains around the country.  They just never learn.

Glad to hear your place is untouched!

Oh, and looking at that box of Standard Gauge track was making me antsy today!  But the apartment has brand new carpet so I'll have to do something to protect it...I guess.

I'd pick up a cheap throw rug big enough to put under the tracks, then roll it up when not in use.   WalMart or that French place Tar-shay should have something.

Keep the heat baby, I like it cool, sometimes I even like it cold. At least if it's cold you can bundle up. If it's hot you can only take off so much before you get arrested!

You and me both brother!  I'm a snow baby!  Wink  I always say "I can always add more clothes but I can't take off my skin!" Laugh

Okay, dropping out for awhile.  AT&T is scheduled to get me back online on the 8th so see you all soon!

Hey all!

Sunny and hot as expected.

Spoke with Banks' wife yesterday. She is doing well as expected. Her Bday was last Sunday so she was sad - good news is family and good friends stepped in. A nice gathering was held. Thanksgiving and Christmas will be tough. Recall that Banks and Mrs Banks had moved next door from their house into his moms farm house after his mom passed. Mrs Banks plans to move back into their house and her son will take over the farm house.

Regards, Roy

All of the brown is flood waters from the Raritan River, which is hundreds of yards away from the stadium.

I hope your home in Wayne is all right Spank, there's some scary stuff that happened up there.

Our two remaining relatives in NJ who live in Midland Park are fine, and the ones we have in Montgomery County PA got through it OK as well.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

It was 58 degrees this morning when I stepped outside for a coffee and a smoke!  Lovely!  Hopefully this is the end of the inferno of a summer we've had here.

Thirty-four years in Virginia and I'm still not used to the summertime heat.  Then again, the natives aren't too crazy about it either.

Come to think of it, Chief, t'was a little cooler when I took FifeMax out before dark. Just emerged from the train room, after a couple of hours of running and tinkering. Happy with my retrofit B&O GP-9, as it runs well with my Chessie GP-7, and looks right smart pulling my mini Potomac Eagle consist. No pile-ups.

Took Wifey to Cracker Barrel for brunch, and of course we couldn't get out of that joint without some geegaws and friffery. The Potomac was as high as I've seen it in the five years we've been living up here (man time flies), but not up near the top of the levies, built by the Army Corp of Engineers back in the 50's.

Nice fall weather. Suppose to last through tomorrow.

Home from chemo. Was magnesium [always with IV takes 1 hour] as usual. Then chemo which this time was 30 minutes. Big ones last 3 hours.

BoJ's for a ham and cheese biscuit and pintos. Got to eat. Still loosing weight.

Reminds me, whole house generator should be installed by end of month. Guy has everything but had shoulder operation. Why it will take longer.

Have a good one.

Nice here. Un-real what is going on around us. We can smell the smoke from the west coast fires. Un-like the east coast we are dry as toast and the corn is already getting harvested and it is only 9-2?

We went to Menards so I could pick up a new flag. The old one has had the best days already.

Dennis, yes this site has been very slow and hard to log on to? It seemed like it took forever to get to $20.00 an hour for me at Cat. Now that is starting pay.

Becky any place for the trains is better than none! Congrats on the new place!  Yes

Come on over to September DJ we won't bite you. Wink

I finally get the keys to my apartment on Friday!  Actual moving should happen over the weekend since I have to turn over the house next Tuesday.  The only question is...how fast will I get track on the floor and will it be O or Standard?  Wink

KEV, thanks for doing the POT and especially the Banks thing.

Doing pretty good. Slept 9+ hours last night.  Tummy not settled so trying not to throw up [I don't do well throwing up].

Rain has missed us so far.

86 degrees and 92 heat index [how humid it is].

Buddy from rifle forum got to see the UP 4014 yesterday.  He agrees, a massive engine.

Morning, Added 4 grapple bucket loads of brush to the burn pile before it heats up. Getting too old for some of the work needed here.

Worse than Northwoods, the only Flyer I have is my 1934 pre-war three rail set. We never had it when we were kids so I never looked for it. I must say I did enjoy Banks posts of the dirt drags and hunting with his son and grandson. I also enjoyed his hobby farming as we call those smaller farms here. Yes I liked Fife's video of his Flyer and the way it chugs along.

Flintlock, I hate to be late! These days 9:00pm is late for me and 7:00am is early. Laugh

Krogers is the only thing left to do today.

I never knew Banks other than on the pot but those of you who knew him in the flesh it would be nice if you could share your thoughts and some pictures over the 17 years here if you would. Big Smile

Have a great day.

Thanks for starting a new Coffee Pot, KRM.  Those were some nice sentiments about Banksie (and he was truly worthy).

Well. StormStormStorm, and more Storm along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Heaviest right now between Charleston, WV to Holidaysburg, PA. Across the Potomac River, schools are closed.  I'm thinking the damns were pretty low, so hopefully flooding won't be as bad.  I'm more worried about falling timber... Trash can needs to be brought in from the curb, but FifeMax only fetches frisbees.

Finished my MTH B&O GP-9 retrofit last night.  Now the former PS1 loco has PS2 guts, better sounds, and can be mated with some of my other PS2 engines.  If I had to do over again, would just try to purchase a similar series GP9 or GP7 and swap the bodies.  But I just don't want to make said purchase over the internet, and I prefer testing any PS-1/2/3 engine at a train show.

Speaking of train shows, looks like YORK is out for me, as my RR boss advised me that I'm conducting Tues-Sat throughout October.  I'm a little bummed, but I'm also doing what I love.  Working all 4 runs this holiday weekend.

Jumping the gun just a little bit?

I've always lived by the philosophy of "Be early, don't be late!"  It's served me well.

And I concur fully on the sentiments concerning Banks!

I only have a few pieces of Amerivan Flyer HO.  In honor of Banks and his consistently positive and caring attitude here it is.  I miss his presence.

Good Evening,

Kev, Great Idea!  I haven't got use to Banks, not being around.  He truly was a very nice guy, and made a lot of positive contributions.  GOOD JOB!

Nope,

You got a problem with it? I will be glad to close it to make you feel better.

I am going to bed, got things to do tomorrow early. If it ruffles you start your own like last month when Chief wanted Penny to do it but you jumped in.

& BTW when I was raised it was"if you can't say anything nice,,, Zip it!"

Thought I would kick it off.

Would like to make this month’s pot a tribute to our friend Banks! Angel And his passion American Flyer two rail.
Temps on the North Bluff have come way down, darn right nice out there. Robbins and hummers are already heading south??? Kind of early, makes you wonder what they know we don't? Crops are turning and combines should be running in a week or so. Have a great night. Prayers for DA Chief and anyone else in need in these crazy times.
