Good Evening,

Try this again.

Talked with the Chief this evening, actually I called him Wednesday.  When I called he didn't sound too good, as it turns out he went to the rehab facility on Tuesday.  He didn't get much sleep that night and was not feeling that well.  So, I asked him to call me on Thursday when he was feeling better.  So he called tonight, and sounded quite a bit better!  Still not normal but definetly better than on Wednesday.  Tonight he told me he didn't do much this morning, then all of a sudden began to feel pretty good.  So we talked for about 15 minutes.  He said he is enjoying the PT, and was told he is doing well.  He plans on only being there until he has more stamina and feels he can fend for himself at home.  No more than 20 days at rehab.  His attitude was good, but still not "himself".  I don't know what treatments if any he is receiving if any.  I pretty much let him guide the conversation the way he wants, and don't push him with a bunch of questions.  I know he is glad to be out of the hospital, and looking forward to getting home.  Sorry I don't have more information.

On a personal note, I have spent the last few weeks working on getting rid of our cable TV system.  Our current supplier sent us a notice the fee was going up $20/mth.  That will push the price over $220/month!  That is absurded!  And I think I've  got it!  Going to go to a combination of Sreaming, and Air TV.  That will save well over $100/month!  And have a lot more channels than we ever had.  Lots and Lots of detail, but it will be worth it.

Take care all and be safe!

Don

Good morning,

Been nice weather here but we could use some rain. Farmers are all working to get the crops out. All the down corn has slowed the pace a lot.

We had the grand-pup since Sunday till last night, was nice to sleep till 8:30am today. Pup gets up at 6:30 and then your stuck. I gave her, her first ride in the front seat when I took her home. She liked sticking that big nose out the window of the rusty Ranger at 60 mph. Cat is glad to be rid of her. Laugh This dog is like having a Moose in the truck.

Like Fife, worried for the Chief! Tongue Tied Angel

Mornin' guys and gal(s). Sunny and 50 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Too busy to post lately. Painting middle princess's home, and working long hours at the railroad. Starting tomorrow it will be five days a week 'til my son's wedding in mid November.

Not reading any new updates on the Chief, so Angel sent.

No posts since spankey above yesterday morning.

Tue 76 Wed. 83 suppose to be 100 Sunday but now it's only 100 a hour at noon instead of being hot all day like in the summer.

I'm doing buss wiring and feeders. I like to do 3 wires to each piece if Gargraves. On these huge or even big layouts it's hard for me to believe thay have buss wires and feeders all around all that track. Do they?

When I did my last layout I did about every 6 - 8 feet and would alternate from one side to the other for my ground wire. I had Gargraves and that seemed to work well. I had each wire come back to a bus bar and then I had one wire to the transformer.

Nothing happened today really, the exterminator came and took care of my yellow jacket nest.

First, FedEx came with a screen for our fireplace, about an hour later mail lady came with a package from Wal-Mart we ordered, and as she was pulling out UPS came in with an order of trains I bought. My wife thought it was kinda funny, I walk out to get mail from the mail lady, and incomes UPS right behind her.

Daughter, SIL and kids came out today and we put up SIL’s deer stand where I cleared a spot down by the creek.

Then we cooked burgers on the grill and now we have the grand-pup for most of the week because they have so much to do on the poor dog would be home alone and besides, she loves the open space we have and will be fine here.

I pray Da Chief is doing better and anyone else who needs help from the higher ground.  Like those in that bad train wreck on a train ride I have always wanted to take.

Have a great week.

 Some pictures.

Working on the O Gauge side of things today.  I could get to like this, having a layout 2 feet away most of the time!  Wink

If I stick with this configuration, I'll need to cut a few custom Standard Gauge pieces to extend the oval as there's nowhere near enough clearance at the ends.  The "swail" up front on the O Gauge line would be to house a Plasticville Union Station.  I'll also need to insulate the long Standard straight up front to activate accessories.  BUT, I'm also thinking of switching the two AND of extending the run with additional carpets to create a 4 foot turning loop nearby.  Wouldn't that be cool!  Big SmileThumbs Up

And the winner is....

I picked up the rug today at Menard's (no cars yet, I looked!  Wink).  It's a 5 by 7 and it only cost me $22.  That's a good deal to get trains running in my book!  Big Smile

Good Afternoon,

Just talked to the Chief, sounds a LOT better today!  Sounds like after a conversation with his Dr., they plan on him going to a Rehab facility before going home.  Probably a very good idea!  Will definitely make things better for Pam, and he will get more frequent PT treatments.  He was glad to get the call!  He did say it helped with the boredom.

Take care all and be safe!

Good Evening,

I don't have much, but thought it should be shared......

I talked to the Chief this past Saturday and he was in the hospital.  I knew he was having a problem with "Stamina", and been in the house pretty much all the time.  He has a PT person come out a couple times a week, and has also had a nurse coming by to treat bed sores.  Anyway, last Sat, he was having trouble getting up, Pam tried to help, but couldn't.  So the Paramedics were called and he was taken to hosp.,because his Oxy levels were low.  Then he was given a transfusion upon arrival.  On Saturday he was feeling a lot better, and that's when I talked to him.  He said then he hoped to be going back home later in the day or Sunday.

Then I found out TODAY, he is still there.  He has had another transfusion, and still having a significant Stamina issue.  He wasn't real clear on any specific diagnosis, but just the Stamina and Oxy levels.  I have tried calling his wife a few times at home, didn't want to interupt her at the hospital, or calling him in case he is resting.

So, when I hear some more information I WILL post it.  For the short term, thoughts and prayers will certainly help.

Morning all!

Sunny and cool as predicted. Warmer later. State Fair of Texas starts tomorrow and runs through mid-Oct. Got our free passes from Chevrolet Truck Legends club. You can join when your Chevy truck (my '09 Tahoe) is over 100K miles. I've been a member for 4 years. The '84 El Cam and '01 GMC do not count - but I have three GM vehicles with the '09 Tahoe over 100K. Daughter's '10 Malibu is near 100K, son's '12 Jeep is over 100K. The '15 MDX is nearing 50K.

On that note - the El Cam passed State safety inspection and emissions visual inspection yesterday with no issues. The odometer on the El Cam tops out at 99,999.9 miles - as did most of earlier times - since vehicles rarely made it past 99K miles before they simply fell apart (So maybe newer vehicles are built better?). So the inspector asked "what is the mileage" for the records as only 13K showing on the odo. Told him it was only 113K as it sat for so many years.

Regards, Roy

Well, the Joad family's plights are definitely what come to most people's minds these days when they hear "dust bowl" and "great depression".

Good morning all! Cool mornings and highs of low 80's next few days - then back to low 90's. Sun sun sun!

Had a pretty decent day yesterday. Got back on the El Camino project. Got the new headliner installed and all interior trim cleaned & reinstalled. Quite a chore and took all day. But it looks good. The headliner has been out for over 20 years as it came apart when the foam (fabric backing) deteriorated and the fabric fell off. Next steps for interior are carpet, refurb or replace door panels/armrests, and possibly seat covers. It is amazing how well those velour seat covers have held up over 37 yrs, over half of them in blistering heat. At the time I bought it I wondered how that 'cheap' fabric would hold up. Anyhoo - the interior is on hold as I tackle some exterior projects - possibly starting with a repaint of the roof. Also need to go and get the inspection done.

Thanks Anj!

Good Morning

Vacation was great, Thursday and Friday were cloudy and breezy, temps in the high 70s and low 80s, very comfortable.  Friday, we did walk through voting on NJ State Fireman's issues, then I was done for the weekend.  Lots of food and great camaraderie, boardwalk and some pool time as well.  The ride home was topless and very enjoyable.  The road runner never missed a beat.

Met up with Larry at his train store (Holly Beach) on Saturday and spent about $150, my order for TOFC in the Pennsy/Reading SeaShore Lines livery will be in this week.  So, even though I'm not in Wildwood, the spending continues...lol.

Was up early Monday for a 2 car MVA, 4 sub 18 year olds and a 41 y/o in a pick up.  Head on collision.  3 MediVac choppers were dispatched, I was on the fire protection line in front of the Landing Zone (LZ).  No cause, yet.  I missed the accident scene engine as I was held up by school buses.  Obviously, I made the truck for LZ protection.

Mom had a minor accident on Saturday, a white Honda on a hit and run.  Mom is ok, I'm looking for the POS that hit her.  Body Shop visit for her Mustang resulted in a $2400 estimate, they are booked until October.

Yesterday took Mom to pay some bills after work, then ran over to Jenni's for yard work.  Got finished after dark.  A little more to do, but it is better than it was.

Discussed plans for the wedding and the honeymoon.  Got home at midnight.

Sunny now, 80s.  Rain tonight and tomorrow.  I have a softball dinner at 6, so I'll be out for that.  Jenni's for a bit after.  Home early, I hope.

Fife - nice work on the "olive branch" attempt.

Prayers for Chief, Roy and all in need.

back to work

Mornin' guys and gal(s). Rain and 67 (along with a flash flood warning) along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Glad I got all the yardwork done yesterday. Couple of trees out back are just starting to change, so maybe a normal fall foliage season this year.

Spent afternoon at Ridgeley, lending a helping/guiding hand on some matters. I'm trying to encourage fellowship between the two scenic railroads, whenever I can.

Same cold front hit us Roy, 67 right now and I like it. It also gave us a much needed inch of rain. Yes Storm

Called today to set up getting our flu shots. I also need the shingles shots but not sure if I want to do both at once. My old shingles shot is now been 5 years ago so I am ready for the new one.

Working on moving the license plate mount on the UTV trailer. Where they have it it gets all the stuff coming off the tire and is so close to the ground it gets bent everytime I use the trailer. Going to put it on the gate ramp but figuring out the plate light will be the trick. I have a neat LED light and thinking of using some super flex train wire to feed it because of the gate going up and down?

Finished clearing the area for the SIL's deer stand yesterday so we can put it up this weekend.

Good morning folks!

Cool front rolled through a little while ago - 77 right now - it hit 100 yesterday, but only the 8th 100 day this year - quite a bit below normal.

Slept a bit better last night for first time in over a week - was only up twice.

Afternoon all!

Been laying low and taking it easy. Nothing to say.

Enjoyed the NASCAR races this past weekend. Some good bump and run/passing. Races were quite competitive for once.
