A cabin?  Oh-so-cool!  I'm jealous!

Tell me, if you have a fireplace is it properly accessorized with a flintlock musket?

True cabin, I wish,,,,Nope just a log sided home, could not pay for the real thing. Also a lot of un-wanted issues with true log homes. As for the fireplace, yeah we got one but I don't have a flintlock above it,,,, just my trusty old Savage Stevens 987 22LR from about 1978 for when needed. Used to be ready on call but with grand-kids it is trigger locked but loaded. Wink

This is where we were having the problem.

Roy and Banks, your right! It could of been worse. I think I got them. The first day after the spray there were hundreds of dead ants on the layout. I have been sucking the table clean and checking every morning and today there were only two. Yes So I think we are getting there.

MAN it is hot for this time of year. it was 90 at noon???? Nuts.

Wife and I took a road trip to pick up an old milk can in a town called Paw Paw. I cut the bottom of the can out and use them to cover the ugly well head. Wink Scary part is the last two I did the bottoms were sealed on with Lead!!!!   Surprise      We stopped in Serena for lunch and then when I got home I did a tank of Trimec as long as it is so hot. Should knock the weeds down fast in this heat!

Banks glad the boy did fair. sure could of been worse. I remember chaseing a show cow for a 4-H show that got loose in a over your head corn field. What a PITA! Gramps was so mad he said he would shoot it and eat it but it would be bad meat with that adrealine rushing through it after the chase.  Laugh

Some before and after shots. We have 70 of these on the house. The ones on the south side take a beating from the direct sun.

End removed cleaned and ready for new cap.

Finished

Morning folks!

Sun is in and out - apparently got a nice shower early this am as yard/street very wet. Below normal temps continue but looks like upper midwest gonna need their shorts. Not clear to me how it can be below normal down here and 'way above' normal up there (i.e. 100!).

Banks - glad the GS is ok and no bull Whistling

Kev - Bummer about the ants. My experience is they go in where rot has already started. They only like soft wood.

Chief - Angel - glad yesterday went well.

Regards, Roy

Slept 5 1/2 hours. Then started reclinerizing. Sister IL calls and then Wiley keeps barking at something out front of house [Wifey had opened front door so he sees all walking by]. Get dressed and go get meds.

Thanks gang for all the wishes and prayers.  Spent most of yesterday at hospitals [test and treatments.

Wifey off to baby shower for her cousin. Got another one tomorrow for our friend.

Steak later today.

77 and sunny. Beautiful day.

Enjoy

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 62 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Wedding day for niece, so Fifey has to get all dolled up.
Wifey and I went on our little shopping tour yesterday, with visits to CVS, Lowe's, and Tractor Supply. She picked out some cute outfits for the grandbabes, and almost bought a camo outfit for newborn, but thought better. When we dropped the outfit off to Middle Princess's castle, there was the youngest babe in camo, to celebrate National Bubba day...

Banks - I had a similar accident in middle school;totally my fault. Glad boy is ok. Glad you didn't get the bull by the horns.

If you want SPF tomorrow, best start it, as Fifey will be tied up. Well, hopefully.

Hello there.

HAPPY  BIRTHDAY  Chief and prayers.

Kev........that coulc be serious

Been quite a week. A laid back Memorial Day was capped with a family get together at daughters place. Picnic/Birthday Party for Grandaughters 14th.

Tuesday started with a bang. We had a steer penned ready to load for the butcher shop. While getting ready I was shocked to see him standing in the yard. How he squeezed out the window I'll never know. The chase was on. Son was afoot and I grabbed granddaughters 4 wheeler. It took almost an hour but with help from Mrs, daughter, SIL and one of SIL's employees we got him back on the right side of the fence. He was so wound up we didn't try to get him in the trailer after that. I had to manhandle the 4 wheeler out of ditches hidden in the weeds several times and a couple of places it wouldn't fit. Took a toll on this fat old guy, still recouping from that.

Then last evening about 7 I got a call from daughter, grandson had been hit by a car while bike riding. God was watching over him, the most serious injury was a broken wrist. It happened in a community park, the driver was purportedly going 5MPH.

Spent today trying to catch up on yard work. Drag tomorrow. I'm not sure but I think son is skipping it to get ready to plant corn. I'm doing yard work again.  There's a Hillclimb on Sunday, we won't miss that.

Bed is calling

Prayers for those in need

Yikes 'K, that's a horror!

I remember when I was a kid my father used to treat the area around the house with an insecticide called "Chlordane."  Good stuff, Dad always followed the directions and we never had a bug problem of any kind.

The trouble was, some people didn't follow the directions (Bang Head) and wound up poisoning the areas around their houses!  So, then it was no more Chlordane, it was pulled off the market.

The same thing happened to Diazinon, I used it around our house and never had a bug problem either.  Now I let Loyal Pest Control deal with it.

Happy Birthday to Da Chief!!!!

Been nuts on The North Bluff last few days. Bang Head

We had an end-tail on the house that looked to be rotting. After looking closer I found it was full of THEM!!!!!!   What a mess, but it is put back together today. Price you pay to live in the woods.

So it has been tear it apart to fix it and kill the ants along the way. I found a pile of sawdust on the train layout under where they were having their house party. Looked like the layout had been invaded by monsters. Laugh Most had jumped to their death from the top of the basement wall and landed dead on the table. Ant killer is working.

May be an image of outdoors

Tomorrow is National Donut Day.

I've got my Entennmann's Rich Frosted in the fridge.  They were buy one get one at the grocery store this week!  Dinner

Ah, Entenmann's!  We got lucky, they followed us down here.  Not everything in the product line though, I love the "Apple Puffs" but can only get them when I'm up north.

(Why they call them "Apple Puffs" beats me, they're so heavy I call 'em "Apple Bombs,"  but man are they good!  Nuke 'em for about 30 seconds in the microwave for a hot treat that's great with a cup of coffee!

One other tasty treat thing that I can only get up north is Drake's "Funny Bones."  Kind of like a "Twinkie" but made of devil's food with a chocolate coating and a peanut butter filling.  I loved 'em when I was a kid!  I remember the taste being a bit more gutsy when I was a kid but I have to be fair, my taste buds have 50+ years of wear on them now since the last time I had 'em.

It still ticks me off that they discontinued that Yummy Coffee Cake with all that streussel topping and powdered sugar. They replaced them, out here at least, with those crappy little individualy packaged ones. Ick!

Good Evening -- - -

Working late on Dispatch - queue has cleared up so I have a few -

Busy last night - at 6, arrived for softball game where I went 2 for 2 with an RBI, played first and catcher - alternating.

Finished up in time for Mercer County Fireman's Association Trustees meeting at 730, 745, the Exempt Association Meeting and then full County Association Meeting at 8.

Done at 930, ran over to my house for a quick measurement and spoke to my future SIL.  Off to the Firehouse to fill out a service award form so all attendees would get credit for the meeting(s)

So, I'm a bit sore and tired.  Obviously, I'm skipping the drill tonight.

Continued Prayers for Chief, Doug and all in need

Say, there are at least 3 diners within 1.5 miles of here ---

I move to FLA USA in 1992 and moved BACK to NJ USA in 2010 -say what you want - there is nothing like Jersey - if we could remove the corrupt politicians and lower the taxes ---- lol

Diner Food is THE Bomb diggity - Engagement Partyt of the Proncess and her betrothed on Saturday  - I'll see my Ex then, she's coming up - this could be exciting....lol....

My fiancee is going to meet her, I'm ducking out if there is fireworks, lol!!!

OK back to work, another 35 minutes or so.

Thunder and lightning here and 60s - 80s thoriugh the weekend

75 and cloudy. 1.27 inches of rain total.

Tomorrow is National Donut Day. With shot card, get 2 [instead of 1] free donuts at Krispy Kreme.

Now do some errands with Wifey driving.

Mornin' boys and girls. Damp and 65 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Ran trains last night for FifeMax during a brief Lightning. No pile-ups, but the main had an conductivity "hiccup" that I'm gonna have to remedy.

Having breakfast with engineer buddy this morning. Not much planned after that.

Yesterday BIG train with Moorefield grade-schoolers. Didn't lose anybody. Yes

NRHS Chapter museum has a N-scale display layout that doesn't run, so maybe I'll try to fix that this week.

Got a birthday present from Buckeye! Thanks!

My neighbor took a turn for the worse. Hoping he can at least return home...Sigh

Wayne, I don't consider myself an exile, more like an escapee.

Yeah, I get it, "escapee" may be closer to the mark than "exile."  Like you, we got to the point where endurance ceased to be a virtue.

We're not alone, according to United Van Lines NJ's Number One in the country for move-outs.  New York's #2, Illinois is #3.

It's like 1000-1100 miles away for me.No Jersey diner for a few years for me.  Wayne

Yeah, it can be rough at times for exiles like us, can't it?  Crying

Not sorry I left mind you, but there are occasions...

I'll tell you Wayne (BTW, my name's Wayne too!) if it weren't for the diners, bakeries, burger and hot dog joints, pizzarias, bagel shops, ice cream places and Shop-Rite EVERYONE in NJ would have left years ago!   Wink

Wayne, I don't consider myself an exile, more like an escapee. I still do miss all the things you covered.   Wayne (in Indiana)

Morning. 73 and cloudy. Dogs and I chased a batch of squirrels out of the bird feeders. Coffee and Thick Egos. Now relax.

Good news. Slept 9 hours. New record. Slept 6 1/2 hours without waking. Then right back to sleep.

Speak to the graduating class of the 8th graders at Rolesville Charter Academy at 6.

Should start having rain tonight. Watered yesterday so all is fine. Side dressed all my veggie plants before watering.

Have a good one.

"Eggs, ham, sausage, pancakes and waffles."

Sounds like a "Super Lumberjack" breakfast selection at any number of Jersey diners!  (And if it's a REAL Jersey diner they serve breakfast 24 hours a day.)

Jeez, NOW I'm hungry, and the nearest Jersey diner is 350 miles away!

Funny you should mention that.
