The big thing here is to get like escalades and other vehicles like that and jack up the front of the car to where it's about 2-3 feet higher than the rear. I understand N.C. has passed a law limiting the hieght difference to 4"

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 50 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. We Are headed to the local flower mart today, to beef up the planters. Wifey and I went to the county fair (nearby Ft. Ashby), to take in the RODEO. Bulls won...

Morning folks!

Summertime - nice and toasty out! Only 164 today!

Dennis - nearly every interection in the Dallas area is tagged with donuts. Idiots - what great adults/contributors to society they will make - right?

Banks - glad the beach trip is going well!

DJ - sorry - hope the 'tude improves soon. Have fun with the 'project'! That should help.

Chief - take it easy - radiation, etc., really takes it out of you. Lung damage from the pnemonia is tough.

Anj - I sure miss the days of summer softball. When I was younger we had a local park where all games were pickup. I was no good but my buddies let me on the field anyway. Beers at the local watering hole afterwards were always good!

Regards, Roy

Happy Pre Friday -

Great day yesterday after the sun came out - 70s with very low hoomidity -

1 for 3 yesterday - popped a calf muscle after getting out of the batters box.  yep I was out for the rest of the game, which we lost 17-24.

Nurse Jenni on the job, on Tylenol and a compression sock and ice.  3 week rehab?  We'll see.....

Roy - It's what I look forward to during the Summer, with car shows and cruises

Rest up and don't push it, CHIEF!!!!

Same weather today -

Off to work -

My doc keeps telling me - You're too old for this......

I'm still firefighting, playing softball, working on the house and cars......too old?

Too young for a rocking car.....lol

73 and sunny. Breezy. Just came in from sitting on the porch. Got a little sun time. Not do as good as earlier yesterday. Didn't sleep last night. Sweating and yet chilling.

Up the street to a Duke facility for blood draw. Haircut near there. Month past due.

Radiation before the Pres arrives in town.

Been lying down for first time. Seems OK.

Enjoy your day.

Banks
Here street takeovers have become popular with kids where a bunch gather at a intersection and they spin donuts with their cars. Very dangerious, your really sort of out of control. A car plowed into a restraunt near me and did a lot of damage. Do kids do this in your area?

I hear them drag racing nearby on many a summer night past the old Chevy plant.

Mornin' boys and girls.  Sunny and 58 this AM, in the Potomac Highlands.  Will clean and mow yard in preparation of Oldest Princess and Curly-Top visit this weekend.  I will be on the train all day tomorrow, so my evening will probably be spent with the boy in the train room. Grandma already scooped up all of her nicky-nacks from the main room.

KRM - Wasn't able to view, but I'm sure it was good.

Tks, all, for the comments on the Grand-daughter, darn if I can figure out how to post that video???

I got to go to my Brother's wedding tomorrow,,,, why would anyone get married at 70??? Guess to make his mistress of the last 15+ years feel better about herself???? Or maybe him about himself? Should be interesting. He got divorced after 40 years back in 2016. One would think they would of had it figured out by then?? Tongue Tied Anyway his new squeeze has not been much of a surprise to most. Bang Head

We got a much needed 1.5" of rain last night, I will take it.  I saw three Bucks in felt walk past the shed today. Surprised the racks are so big already?? Busy day with the wildlife here, I saw 6 deere and 5 turkeys today. Yes

And on to the next thing!

Good morning all!

Sunny and warmer - will hit 188 today Mischief

Taking it easy today. Had a bad sleep last night - side effects, ugh. Plan to head to Lowes and maybe HD today - we need a couple of more comfortable deck chairs to replace some older ones. Looked on-line at the fake wicker stuff that we like and have currently. The problem is the current style seems to be high squared off armrests and we want the low curved top. Have not found a combination of search terms to just bring up what we want - so off to look at stuff.

Kev - posting here, particularly videos, is just painful. Videos can be hit or miss. Today - does not work, tomorrow or next day, it works. Reason why I just do not try anymore.

No chemo until July 8. Had lost 28 lbs. since going to hospital. Got to get weigh back on. Also, new meds to sleep and get apatite back.

Doing a lot better today. Eating better.

Back in office paying bills.

Cutting back on supplemental O2. That is going well.

Have a good one.

Evenin' boys and girls. Two long days on the train, and my tootsies are tired. I've been qualified as a conductor again, and I'll be getting all pretty for next Saturday. I really like the people I work for, and work with. The downside is lack of time with family on the weekend.

Hello there, should be sleeping but wide awake.

Prayers needed for a young man injured at the Hillclimb today. First time in 45+ years I saw a serious injury on the hill.

Chief... Prayers continue.

Roy......sounds like quite a show

Back from da beach yesterday. Uneventful except for traffic delays in unusual places for no obvious reasons. The week finished slow. Sunny but almost cool enough for a jacket. Did make a visit to TOY TOWN ANTIQUES. Left with only a Lionel HO exploding boxcar.

Daughter & family surprised us showing up Thursday PM. Was great to have the whole clan under one roof. She moved to a motel for 2 more nights after we left. Material delays gave SIL a chance to get away.

Lightning storm Friday night before we left smoked the fence charger despite a lightning arrestor. Replacing it was one of son's projects Saturday before his family joined us Sunday.

Last evening found the lightning blew several fuses in both garages, tripped a couple breakers on the house too. Thankfully so far no other damage. Knock on wood.

Tomorrow has been designated a recuperation day.

Prayers for those in need

Hello there,

where is everyone?

Thanks for your Prayers Quick update on the injured rider. No internal injuries as feared. Both bones broken below the knee , broken shoulder and probable concussion . He spun of the side of the hill, through the woods and off a steep embankment .  Not sure how he wasn't stopped by trees or brush before getting to the embankment.

Best get to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Morning all.  Been a couple of weeks.

I see Chief is feeling better. Yes  Keep getting better!

As most of you, the mercury has been in the upper part of the thermometer.  Getting into the mid 90s today it sounds like.  Got in the pool yesterday and it was 86, YUK.

Looking at the next few years it looks like we'll have a lot of work.  Unless the tick me off or me them I should retire here.  I'll be here 35 years next January.

Everyone stay cool and safe!

WOW the weather is nuts, 9 weeks of toast and now 6.25" of rain in four days. Water everywhere. Storm Storm Storm

Other than that been just watching the creek rise and the Turkeys get soaked.

Glad your getting back to eating Chief. That should help you out a lot.

Roy,"Been busy with some rotted wood replacement projects." Yeah been there and done that! Yes

Banks, glad the boy will recover. Sounds like it could of been worse.

(Some-Day-Maybe) SIL has to get knee surgery next week. He blew it out bad.  They wanted to do it tomorrow but he is afraid of the Vaccine so till he can prove he is clean from COVID they said nope. I would rather have the shot than that thing stuck up my nose to my brain to get checked. Laugh

About it.

Banks
where is everyone?

Well in our case we're back from NJ and the final push to clean out BIL's apartment, he's gone into extended care and sadly won't be coming out.

The N Gauge collection, sold.

Stamp collection, sold.

Coin collection, sold.

Milk bottle collection, sold.

The Department 56 collection, sold.

Tool collection, given away to folks in the apartment complex.

The book collection, disposed of.  As a bibliophile I HATED tossing much of the collection (Accumulation?) in the dumpsters but they were all titles that NO-ONE besides himself would care about, not worth even trying to sell them.  We kept a handful of the better ones.

His paperwork dating back over 40 (50?) years that no-one cares about tossed as well.  Why in the name of all that's holy did he keep this stuff?

Kitchen stuff's gone to Goodwill.

The family photo collection we've kept for further perusal and editing, there's probably going to be a lot of "Who IS that?" in the offing.

It's amazed us all just how much room there was in the apartment once all the accumulation that would have done credit to the Collyer brothers was out of it!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collyer_brothers

On the positive side, Lady Firestorm and I did get to do a bit of a North Jersey diner tour!  We do miss the diners, there's nothing like them in our spot of Virginia.

Let me recommend most highly the Rochelle Park Diner in Rochelle Park NJ, little changed from the 1950's, and the Empress Diner in Fair Lawn NJ, a newer place and with great food AND if you're lucky you might see a classic car drive-in in the parking lot!

Made it home Sunday afternoon after a three hour battle down I-95 in VA from Prince William County to Hanover County where we bailed off the highway and took the backroads home.  WHERE did all those people come from?  We had no problems driving back from NJ until we hit VA.  VA used to be the easiest part of the trip!  "It waaas, but not any morrrrre..."

https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/17eb8b61-ed09-43ce-b02f-4bd8125eab06

We did have a nice visit with SIL and her family in PA, and I even got to visit Henning's Trains in Lansdale!  Picked up a Lionel Anheuser-Busch billboard car and a used MTH transformer for $25.  I can always use another transformer, especially when it's that reasonable.  If I'm lucky I'll be back there Thanksgiving time.

Glad to be home, let me tell 'ya!

Best wishes to all!

Evenin' boys. Just hit 101 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. FifeMax caught just three frisbees before saying "No mas." Stopped by local tux retailer to order black vest for Conductor Fife. Received nice "Thank you" card from Age of Steam Roundhouse (where Buckeye volunteers).

Chief - We've got some local ice cream shops that could fatten you up! Watch cooking shows, might give you more appetite as well.

Woah, I wish I had known you were gonna be up here! Diners are a unique staple of NJ, something that is sadly missed in other parts of the country.

Now the most important question is: Taylor Ham or Pork Roll?

Well the next time, whenever that is, I'll be sure to let you know we're coming!

"Taylor Ham or Pork Roll?"  I have a confession to make, when we were growing up in North Jersey, Paramus to be specific, mid-Fifties to mid-Seventies, neither Lady Firestorm or myself ever heard of either Taylor Ham or Pork Roll!  It just wasn't served in either of our houses, although Canadian bacon was in Lady F's.

I don't remember seeing either in Shop-Rite, Food Fair, Pathmark, A&P, Grand Union, or anywhere.  In fact, I never heard of it until I saw it mentioned in "Weird New Jersey" magazine several years ago.  Must have been a South Jersey thing that eventually broke the boundaries and migrated north.

By the way, a local supermarket here in VA started carrying it a few years ago so I tried it.  (Taylor Ham.)  Not bad, not bad at all!

My heart's with you Wayne.  They're coming to set up my estate sale on Thursday and I've been watching as some of the trains I sold go on Ebay.  Saying "It's tough" is inadequate.
