Good evening all,

Was supposed to be busy at work.  I was....about 3 to 4 hours into the day.  Got it mostly done, but some left for Monday.  Long story.  Had the roof recoated on the shed today just to use some of the material.  Also some trim added to the awning.  Every thing looks really nice.  Weather is hit or miss on the rain.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Roy, good work on the EL Cam!!!

Turned out nice today, Daughter closed on her second house. Went from a duplex to a single family home. Nice. We are proud of her at 33 years. Don't know where she gets it? Smile, Wink & Grin

Gentleman, let me direct your attention to PennyTrains thread of:

"The Disneyland Thread fka B.Y.O.B,"  page 10.

Her mother passed away on the evening of Easter.  I'm more than sure she'd appreciate a word from all of you.

Also, on the bottom of page nine she's looking for a home for her Disneyland display.  She explains it.

Meeting went well, there is an issue about letting the state control the NJ State Fireman's Home.  Once the state gets involved with our money, there will be no more money.  This money funds the Home and the burial benefit for those in the Exempt association.  I have earned mine and if the state gets in, I'll have nothing.

Holy jeez Devil, keep those incompetants OUT!

Just to show NJ local governance at it's most activist, Lady Firestorm's up in NJ as we speak and just found out our home town of Paramus has banned plastic bags. Nice, so instead of using petrochemicals to manufacture shopping bags they have to back to cutting down trees.  Well, the paper industry's going to be happy. Oh yeah, all that plastic floating in the oceans is coming from Asia and Africa and somehow it's OUR fault!  Bang Head

Her brother "Big B" has been having some serious health issues so she's up there handling administrative issues for him in addition to cleaning his apartment, which is kind of a batchelor pad from hell.  "A place for everything, and everything in it's place."  Yeah, it's place is wherever it landed after the bomb went off! She's got her hands full, cleaning, shredding old paperwork, and not tripping over the piles of N Gauge stuff.  I didn't go with her, she said it would be easier if I stayed home and out of the way.  I agreed.

Later, gents.

Afternoon all!

Partly sunny and quite warm at 85+...

Working a little bit at a time, I have spent the last couple of days working on the El Cam. The project du jour is dropping the auto trans fluid pan so I can get the the 'jammed' T/V cable (carb throttle to tranny for throttle position - cable moves a piston/actuator) out so I can replace it. To get to where the T/V cable goes into the tranny required pulling the passenger side front wheel well out (did that during the wiring harness rebuild so experienced with it - easy to do). Normally one can pull a single 10mm bolt and pull the T/V cable out of the tranny and and unhook from the link - but the cable (like a throttle cable) is seized up and the link and lever inside the tranny are not beefy enough to allow one to just give a yank on the cable to get the necessary slack. Soooo - this means I have to drop the tranny fluid pan.

Then I slowly started removing tranny pan bolts to let fluid seep out into a pan. If you have ever done this you know dropping the tranny pan (which has no drain plug) is a colossal mess with fluid slopping everywhere. So slow drip to drain some fluid over a 24 hr period. Left 4 of the 13 bolts in place at the corners of the pan. Then I made a couple of wire loops from coat hanger wire and put those onto one side of the pan where the bolts were removed. This makes a 'hinge' so I could then drop the other side and let it swing down into the catch pan. Worked excellent and let me one hand the pan as I took out the last bolt. Now I am working on cleaning the pan which was really caked up (Purple Power!).

The good news - no debris/brass in the tranny pan!

Meanwhile - ordered an AC Delco tranny pan gasket and filter set along with a new EGR valve/gasket from O'Reillys - both of which were supposed to be there in a day - now two days later and should be in this afternoon - waitin' on the call. Normally my local O'Reillys is spot on for same day or next day delivery - but they have called each day to tell me of the delay and why (showed stock at another store but then informed not so - then switched to another store/warehouse.

While messing with the El Cam I have the Mecum Auto auction in Houston on the TV - man - a lot of really nice original, nice semi restored, nice fully restored, and restomod pickups going for $12-20,000 - unbelievable! Normally these guys would be going for $20-35,000+. There are so many of them I guess the market for this auction is saturated.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

I rarely mention other websites here, but any of you of a certain age (close to mine) should check out Racer. com or AJ Foyt Racing website.  There are pictures and a story about the ride for JR Hildebrand for the 500.  The paint scheme honors the '61 winning car.  As a long time Foyt fan, this a wonderful car, and maybe this year I will be the last one leaving the track......When AJ won it was either in 1 or 14.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning and Pre-Friday -

Another day another 4 alarm fire - this one off the Princeton University Campus in an apartment complex - lost 8 units, and the structure has been compromised.

Meeting went well, there is an issue about letting the state control the NJ State Fireman's Home.  Once the state gets involved with our money, there will be no more money.  This money funds the Home and the burial benefit for those in the Exempt association.  I have earned mine and if the state gets in, I'll have nothing.

Just after the meeting broke, had another alarm, fortunately, it was nothing.  Got back to Jenni's and had dinner, in bed by midnight.

Company meeting tonight, should be another barn burner.

Friday's coming ---- NOT soon enough

Dennis - I get those types of post cards and letters all the time

Roy - Yeah, that's about right....

Sun and 65 today

Sunny and headed to mid-80's today.

Doc appt went well. Scheduled the next one early June.

Dennis - we get those house buying offers all the time. Our info (value, taxes, owner, etc.) on our house here is public info on county web sites. I assume it is the same in CA?

DJ - like the LED lights.

MikeC - glad you are keeping a watchful eye!

Kev - looks very nice!

Anj - we call our local train org monthly meetings "beating the dead horse society".

Morning,

Seeing as how not one grass seed had got any water as of yesterday and everything was dry as toast, Sandra and I went down to the creek and did more clean up. It is now done and it rained last night so maybe the seed will start to come in? Yes Sounds like the warm spell is also over for the next two weeks. Tongue Tied

Daughter and Some-day-maybe closed on selling their duplex in Shorewood Monday. They will do their final walk on the new house tonight and close tomorow if all goes to plan. We will have the Grand-pup for the weekend so they can move.

Mike, take care of that ASAP!  Angel

Wifey home working in gardens. Will hear I need this or that.

All have a good one.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 64 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Not sure what's on the agenda today.  Wifey will probably want me to do something boring like power-wash the house...Sigh

Yesterday, drove up the mountain for the first time since Mom's passing. Had a nice visit with stepdad, gathered up some Christmas stuff that was set aside, and even fished for an hour (3 bass, 1 crappie).

Did work in the train room last night.  Since I can't watch O's on tv, listen to play-by-play (which is awful) while I work on layout.  Spent this session installing an early style guardpost railing along the new dirt road.  Couldn't find the fancy flex string I had bought for such applications (don't you hate that), so substituted floral wire instead.  Less neat and kinda random looking, but may be a better fit.

cheapclassics - Good luck, going forward.

Good evening all,

Good news.  Trains and MR arrived.  Good news.  Water is safe to drink.  Bad news.  Skin cancer is back.  Not serious, but.... second time around.  Not sure when my number is up.  Good news.  Mowed yard.  Work was ok.  I hope everyone has a good day.

And, I'm truly thankful I don't reside in CA...

Me too.  No disrespect to the West Coast folks but I was out there in the 70's (USMC) and just didn't care for it much. I suppose I'd like it even less now.

I hear there's a hot housing market in CA but that has me a little mystified.  According to what I've seen in the past year there's supposed to be more people moving OUT than moving IN.

California's not on the top of the list though, according to Atlas Van Lines (last I looked) the top three states for move-outs (without corresponding move-ins) are New Jersey, New York, and Illinois.

Thanks Bake. Wear a hat! When I was making periodic trips to West Marine (during my seafaring days), I discovered the Hook & Tackle clothing brand. Their long sleeve shirts with SPF are great for the outdoors, even when the temps hit 90. Good luck with the procedure.

Hi Guys,

I missed Dennis' Birthday!  SORRY!!!Sad   Happy Belated Birthday.

Regarding you question, property as you know is ridiculous, we get junk mail all the time about people (?) wanting to buy, and now even phone calls.  I know I couldn't buy here!!  Don't know where I would go if we sold.  Would certainly miss the great weather!!!!

Speaking of which, had a Dermatology appt with the VA on Monday, so they checked me out, wanted to do a biopsy on a spot on my arm.  They called today and said they need to schedule a date for surgery to remove it.  No biggie, its the slow growing type not milignant.  (Result of all the sunshine and age.)

Most of you know we have had this ink/paper company for 20+ years, haven't "closed" it, but dont do any marketing or out reach.  Every year I think I will close it permanently, THEN......... we get an order for media and cartridges for a big annual event, and you just CAN"T walk away from it.  Maybe hae to look at the new Train Catalogs again.

Fife, Congrats on the new Grandson!!!  Now that IS news

Take care all, time for dinner.

Don't you just love fake news.

Can't believe all the craziness going on, especially the fast food places. People are being just plain nuts.

Looks as though things will be opening up more over the next few weeks. Makes one wonder are things really improving stats wise or is it the "recall election momentum".

Everything packed and ready for Friday museum time. Only two of us so we will be covering two main lines each. Will be running a B&O passenger and a D&H freight consist. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

70 degrees and going into the 80's. Need to put shade cloth on greenhouse. Will spray inside with water hose. Mow over the front yard as did not do the other day. Slept good and only woke twice with some slight pain. A lot better than any night recently.

National news showing states with all vaccines available to those 16 and above in red. NC was white. Wrong. NC vaccines are available to all 16 and above. NBC, get your stats right.

Enjoy your day.

Good Morning -

Meeting was not good - much contention and was very unruly - was done by 8.  I made my points and let the nonsense continue.  Crazy how some "adults" act.

I was abruptly sent on our Rescue truck to a fully involved house fire in a neighboring township.  We were assigned as RIT (firefighter rescue) then assigned to standby, then back to RIT.  Our LT. is young and very inexperienced which did not help.  Did get to spray some water on the fire - this was fueled by a broken gas pipe.  House is a total loss.  No one was home at the time.  2 alarms and the gas company had everything shut down by 10.  Was home by 12:30 AM.

County meeting tonight, should be much more calm after last night's debacle.

Raining and cooler now 50-60 today, a drop from yesterday's 70ish.

Hello there,
Should be sleeping but wide awake.

Rich......congas to Jenni.

Fife....he's a handsome lad.

SJ.....I hope granny Pat didn't do the prep for nothing.

Got the camper out of the carport and washed. The front was quite the project, it was covered with what appeared to be lichen spots. Took a lot of scrubbing to get them off. It hasn't looked this good since we bought it. More fence work tomorrow.

Best get to sleep

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Good evening all,

Work went well.  Weather was good.  TCA Quarterly arrived.  Grandson and I went to local consignment shop where he picked up some items.  We played some card games and Farkle and a round of Battle Cry, an old Avalon Hill game.  Hot water heater replaced.  Water pressure back but boil order in effect until Friday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening folks!

Easter went well. Nice family gathering.

Repaired a Lionel R16 NYTA Subway motor car for a friend. Would start off normal and then take off at full track power. Found a wire from the speed sensor were the insulation was rubbing through. Not easy to patch it with heat shrink. Need a better solution. Man are these things packed with wire, PCBs, etc. Doors open and close. But one side opens and does not close so more troubleshooting in store. Kinda neat.

Fife grampa!

Thanks Flintlock, I don't have a blade of grass yet. We have had "NO" rain since I planted it. Weeds are growing and natural ground cover, but no grass yet? It is dry as toast here at a time of year it should be soaking wet???

Hmmm, have you tried washing your car?  Works for me, every time I go to the car wash guess what happens the next day?   Bang Head

KRM, remember that Titan "Sun and Shade" grass seed I told you about, runs around $50 for a 25 pound bag?  Looks like it's coming up beautifully now with the weather stabilizing and the lawn waking up.

Said I'd get back to you, so there it is!  I'll be getting more of it myself.
