Morning. Chilly but the sun is warming us fast. got to drive Miss Daisy to get pinestraw and check for new gardening/home magazines at Sam's Club. Got to go to UPS store and drop off some shipments. Maybe buy a new weather station.

Growing up in rural NC, we had a postman who drove his personal car.  You could set your watch at 11:30 when he always delivered the mail.  Knew everyone on his route.  Wanted stamps.  Put cash in the mailbox with a note.  Ship a package, leave him a note.  If you weren't standing by the mailbox, he'd blow his horn.  Run out and pay cash to ship.  Not anymore.  Came home last week on a rainy day.  Found this.

White courier lady to lazy to go to the door.  She is always like that.  Hispanic lady come to back, blows the horn.  If we aren't here, put on porch to stay dry.  Has plenty of room to turn around and drive out.  That simple.  She got reported with the photo.  Hispanic lady always happy and friendly.  Other always has an attitude.

Ran new layout breaker circuits for a new Menards building. Extended a storage track to accommodate the aux tender for the N&W J.  Got two more to run.  That way, breaker on, layout transformers and buildings on.  Breaker off, all off.

Seems vaccine doses increasing here. Got word several are getting notices to get their first shots.

Hope all in the cold and snow are OK. Stay warm.

Evenin' folks. Got to meet newest grandson, finally after two weeks (no not thru USPS...). He's just a little guy, though rather alert. Too soon to tell if he leans conventional or DCS. Grandma was excited too, and is spending the night at Middle Princess's for moral support.

The scenic RR wants the county to pony up another 2.5 million for track work. Not sure that dog is gonna hunt... we shall see.

It's cold here (6 below this morning), but the wind hasn't been as bad the past 2 days (that is a blessing), but Wx Channel says 13 below next Sunday. I can't wait until it gets warm enough to get all the sand/salt grime off of the car.

Could be worse folks, could be a LOT worse.

I've got a friend up in La Ronge Saskatchewan, he used to post on the "Trains" Forum as "Miningman."  He tells me they're down to -40 Celsius (That temp matches the Fahrenheit scale perfectly) snow is still coming and there's no end to the frozen hell in sight.  I'm worried, I don't mind telling you.

Don't try and tell him about global warming, he's up to his eyes in it. (Sarcasm intended, straight from him.)

Aloha. Sun coming up means it's another great day. Flintlock, I'm not going to complain about 14 below air temp this morning. I'll drive the youngest to school and jump start the middle boys 'outside' car so he can go to work.

Fife, does the county own the scenic? So they can be asked for money? Or do they have some sort of relationship. I ask only because I'm curious the Illinois Railway Museum gets lots of nothing from our county - it's out in the middle of nowhere though.  Glad you got to see the little guy - whisper in his ear that conventional is the best.

Chief, our rural route carrier used to be great - he would take things back and forth to town for us and tell us the news too if we were out there when he came by. The developer for our subdivision named all the streets aliterratively (if I spelled that right (Tanglewood, Trailwood, Tapwood, etc) so we are always getting other peoples mail with our number on another street. Amazon is doing the same thing so we can look at the delivery photo and try to puzzle out where they left a package. lol

Only -20C here Doug!

Great news Fife!

Flintlock, when I was in the forestry group I knew people in Saskatchewan that logged in that weather. We sent a prototype Track Feller buncher to them for testing. They put 900 hours on it up there for us. They were so far out there that they had to use Satellite phones. They are some tough guys.

Best get

44 and cloudy right now.  Sun in and out.  Suppose to be sunny this afternoon.  UPS store to drop off packages.  Then back shots this afternoon.  No Train Box work for a few days due to restrictions.

Vaccine shortage causes Durham NC to postpone mass vaccination site.

Hope all stay warm and healthy.

Mornin' boys. Partly sunny & 27 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Just got off facetime with Ms. Kelly.  She showed me the baby in his swing, 5 pt harnessed in as if he were in a F-18. First time parents...Laugh

The county owns the R-O-W. There are various memorandums pertaining to upkeep. Monies are provided by local hotel taxes yearly. Our local media is WCBC, and Cumberland Times-News.  If you are interested, check their web pages.  That's as much as I'm gonna say.

Good morning/afternoon all!

Feel fairly decent today. Cool

My taste - smell not so affected - but my taste is. As DJ noted it is hard to eat when food tastes bad. Luckily there are several things that are ok like chicken, rice, fish, noodles, plain veggies (think Green Giant cans) and some beef. Pork is awful. Honey nut Cheerios OK. Bran flakes (my favorite) Ugh. Bread - ugh. They say my taste should return in about 6-9 months. A lot of nerves were cut/damaged in the surgery - and then the radiation zapped the ones that were left. There is a possibility that some taste loss/change could be permanent. I have an older friend where her taste changes were permanent after similar surgery/cancer.

Felt good enough to do a project on the El Cam yesterday. Pulled the pressure plate on the tilt steering column and replaced the turn signal cancel cam (and horn sliding contact ring). That is one heck of a spring and clip to remove/replace.

Cold here - they have been changing temp predictions hourly. Was not supposed to go below mid-high 30's last night. 30 at 8 am and still 30 at 11 am. Was going to hit 50 today but front dipped early I guess. Now we will be below or near freezing for the next 7 days. Bad for you guz up nawth I think.

Regards, Roy

Good Morning -

Gray and cold 18 I think - snow later today and TWICE on Thursday - I'm over all this Snohizo crap.

After work was 2 hot dogs on Honey Wheat bread and bit 0f Running Scared movie then to bed.  2 Aleve dulled my back pain - I fear more snow blowing and shoveling will be due on Thursday.

FINALLY (it's been a MONTH) they are going to ship my EP-5 PRR and 3 other passenger cars - Not sure what's going on with Stout Auctions but at least it's being shipped.  I need 2 pantographs for the EP-5 - same as the Post War GG1s.  Once it gets here, I'll look for them.

Not much else happening - tonight I have a Line/Exec meeting at the firehouse.  Hopefully this will be short - I'll need to get there a bit early to do the bills as Trustee.

I'll get Wednesday night off then Thursday is regular company meeting.

Fife - Sweet!!  Legacy - nuff said - Hope they get the money -

Good to see you, Roy!!

Good evening all,

A good day.  We got about 6 inches of snow.  Daughter in Indy got 0.  Go figure.  Made 2 trips to Aldi's to stock for next round of snow.  Work went relatively well today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha. Grey and single digit cold again. Looks like we'll have another week of this. Youngest and I miscommunicated and he ended up walking home from school - good thing he is young.

That's interesting, Fife. The IRM owns its ROW of about 5 miles - and a bit beyond that is untracked - that is fortunately right off the UP (for donation deliveries). During COVID, the museum has been making money by storing cars and engines for the UP.

Back home from doing transportation needs survey [mainly Hispanic]. Mostly wanted transportation for comidas from Walmart and back home. Hubby has the only running vehicle at work [which is now good, before he was home, no job].

Hispanic GF and I had lunch at near Mexican restaurant. Let her order. [didn't understand anything she said to waitress] Got soft tacos. One with grilled shrimp and two with beef. Onions and etc. on the side. Beans and rice. I had a chili relleno on the side [love them]. Good

50 and cloudy. Turning cooler and rain later today. Rain tomorrow.

Cloroxed my shower. Wait and rinse in a few.

Done for today. [washing clothes to help Wifey at work/play]

Hi, Son and wife came buy today for a visit with their new dog. I like him but 200LB dog at full grown???
Then they went into this what the if you die thing??? I almost feel like I had better drop dead so I don't mess up their plans. KIDS the F&%$ing you get for the F&%$ing you got as my dad would say. Laugh
This morning we made a deal today to get a reverse osmosis system for the kitchen sink and fridge. So long to those 4 gallon cooler bottles of water and all those plastic bottles. Yeah, I could of done it myself but this is not to bad on cost and all is on the supplier if something craps out. The water here is very hard,,75 to 100 grain of hard depending on when you check it. 10 grain is considered hard so are water has been full of salt from the softener trying to pump out the hardness and this should fix that? Other than that just darn cold here. We have had enough.
Roy, I hope things get better on the taste front, that has to suck.
DougM, good to make those kids fight the elements sometimes. Wink

Just a lot more puppy to love!  Tell me they named him "Cuddles."

Seriously, I AM curious, what kind of dog?  Saint Bernard?  Irish Wolfhound? Great Dane?

Spank, I'd love to get back to my college weight, or even my Marine Corps weight, but I'm not going the head injury route to make it happen!

Hang in Roy, the taste buds should re-activate sooner or later.

Oh, look at that face!  Just a big rubbery bundle of love!

Mind you, I hope they realize the accessories they have to get to go with a Mastiff.

1) Castle.

2) Suits of armor.

3) Broadswords.

4) War horses.

5) A retinue of men-at-arms.

Hey, if you're gonna go medieval you've gotta go all the way!

Now go to Lowes and see frigs. Buy American brand but made???? SisterIL has had two Frigidaire brand. Old one was still great but she wanted stainless so b ought another one. No problems. Maybe.

Happy Birthday Dougsnot a grump.

Our gas at Sam's Club dropped 15 cents.  Strange.

Hope all stay well and warm.

PS: software.  All typed the same.  Go back to edit.  All the same.  Then post.  One paragraph changed.  Surprise

Good morning, still.....lol

7 inches of new Snohizio - up at 730, done at 845.  I'll be going to Jenni's for lunch to dig her out then back to the grind until 630.

Regular meeting tonight, 7 PM - I may have to run the meeting, so this could be interesting.  It's a little different than running the County Meeting.

Last night was Daytona qualifying, most likely the only NASCAR race I'll watch all year.  Without the Mopars, I really don't care and the spec cars that they are proposing  are a joke.

Duels at Daytona tonight, might get to watch some.  Meeting more important.

Happy Birthday, Dougnotta!!

Kev - that ain't no dog, that's a small horse (my God Daughter had one-he was a sweetheart, just too big for a small house)

30 and cloudy - ice Sunday Morning.....wonderful......

back to work

Guys,

That is just a picture of what it will be. The dog is just a puppy now, it was 13 pounds two weeks ago and is 21 pounds now. They are very mellow dogs but huge. This dog replaces their last one that only lived 10 years and had lots of health issues when they rescued it. Hope things are better with this one. They did not say what they paid but I bet it was plenty. Some things are better left alone.

Dennis, they live on a postage stamp and to top it off have two other dogs???

Happy Birthday DougDG, your right they will need a backhoe for a pooper scooper. Surprise

Flintlock, I will pass along the list of needs. Wink

Our gas at Sam's Club dropped 15 cents.  Strange.

The ARCO for reg is $3.16, Costco is a couple of cents cheaper but who wants to sit in lines for 30 minutes or more plus I get better mileage in the truck with the ARCO. The Shell a half block down the street is $3.46 for reg was afraid to look at what they want for premium. Unfortunately a lot of that cost is the rediculous taxes the state tacks on.

Thanks for the B'day wishes, that is "birthday not bidet". Laugh
