Great news on the grandson Fife! Yes

Looks like Doug and I are in for more winter snow and at least ten days of single digit days. Hope they come fill my LP tank.

What is up with Don B he is missing??? Anyone know?

Not much else, all stocked up and ready to sit it out.

Hey all!

Surprise. Ms and I each got a text/phone call/email last night saying we could schedule a COVID shot for today. We coordinated and scheduled appts within 20 min of each other. From the time we left the driveway to our return was only 1.5 hrs! And that included a 30 min after shot wait (15 if you do not have cancer). The county finally came up with a successful scheme and added a couple of mega-locations in the past week. The one we did was a drive through in the huge garages under the big downtown convention center. Fire dept staffed the center and they did a great job (Anj!)! Shot 2 will be scheduled the same way in about 3-4 weeks. Shot was relatively painless and no soreness from the shot at this time (6 hrs later). Glad we got this done and the county figured it out!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Good news to hear from Roy and Fifedog.  Getting lots of rain and wind now.  Quiet day at work but enough to keep me busy.  Got a tax issue resolved.  Going to the eye doctor....again... tomorrow.  No mail at all today.  No CTT or Trains....yet....ugh.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

TGIF. Sunny & 36 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Hope to get some plaster strips onto the new section of scenery. Got the cardboard lattice work complete yesterday in the train room. I like listening to Jon Pardi and Midland, and I even played some vintage Glenn Campbell.

New parents took us out for dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant in town. I had a wonderful dish of scallops on a bed of risotto.  This was my Christmas present from Middle Princess.  Menu very pricey, but service and food were first rate.

Aloha and TGIF where the thermometer stands at 4 degrees. At least it is sunny. I shoveled the driveway last night but more snow fell overnight. I'm not going out there until the temps go back up to normal.

Glad you and the Mrs. got your shots, Roy. My wife gets hers (as a nurse) in a week- this state is really screwed up the planning and distribution. Ah well.

Fife, that dish sounds delicious. What a nice present.

Heat wave here Doug,,,12 degrees. Dusting of snow yesterday and last night, maybe an inch.

Our daughter got her shot a week or so back. Will be getting the second soon. I have heard nothing from LaSalle county, but the Governor sure likes to get his air time on TV.

Peg leg is still around but bleeding from that stump and leaving a blood trail. That is not a good thing in this snow and the coyoties around here..

About it.

Good morning. Got back from farms at 6:30 last night.  8,942 steps.  Fixing the timers for feeders was easy.  Then my buddy Fred made a mess of the funnel in the feeder.  Had to empty and fix that.  Then refill.  Last night, my head hit the pillow and that is all I remember. Woke up at 4:00 and got two Tylenol Arthritis and back to sleep. Woke at 5:30 wide awake. ??? Been up since then. Wifey got up at 7 and we have been chatting since. She just turned TV to QVC. Had to leave.  50 degrees and I think that part of the weather station is not working. 34% humidity and raining.  Only had .2" which is about right.

Donut Friday.  Got a Food Security meeting at the Wake Co. Extension ofc at 1. Will run by Krispy Kreme on the way. Had thick Egos with real maple syrup.

Flooded in a lot of the woods.  Path to deep woods stand and feeder flooded.  Gortex leaks.

Have a good one.

TGIF guys ----

Been MIA taking care of 2 driveways and had a county meeting on Wednesday, so been pretty whupped.....

Last night's drill was with a new combination tool (Combi-tool, it cuts and spreads metal) from Hurst, I took out the passenger door and A and B pillars on the passenger side, then a cut near the rocker.  Good experience, though after doing snow duty of 2+ days, I'm sore again.

Tried to pick up Jenni's HHR - it's been in the shop since Sunday for a tire repair - they killed the battery - and now it has no power steering - I think they blew the 60A fuse for the PS, but at 10 PM, I wasn't in the mood to do vehicle diagnostics.  Jeeni is pickling up a fuse after work and she'll install it later.

It was raining this morning, now the sun is out, expecting temps in the 40s today.

After I get Mom's housework done tomorrow, I'll run over to the Train Attic and see if I can get something accomplished.  I did finally finished off 2 shelves on the trusses.  Yes, Fife - I'm trying to get more lights up there, just headroom is lacking.  I also need to get my desk finished so I can move my home office upstairs.

Good to see you, Roy!!  Yeah - the FD is better organized than most local governments - I've been trained for events like this, the politicians have no clue.

That's all from here

The best one I saw Fife & Rich, was a car parked in front of a hydrant,  and they broke the windows in the front seat area on both sides and put a hose right thru it with a coupling right over the driver's seat, of coarse it leaked. And nothing the owner could do about it.

Standard operating procedure for firefighters when there's a car parked in front of a fire hydrant.  Firefighters don't suffer fools gladly when they've got a job to do.

The cops usually get a giggle out of it when they ticket the car too!

Good evening all,

Procedure at eye doctor went went well.  Got to visit with oldest daughter and her four kids.   Ate at Fazzoli's.  Great breadsticks.  Will probably binge watch season 5 of H--- on Wheels.  While waiting for wife today made several calls regarding retirement planning.  Weather had some flurries but supposed to get really cold this weekend.  Ugh.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Spank, you're a Jersey Guy all right!

So where did that fine stash come from?  Shop-Rite Liquors, Bottle King, or a fine local independent liquor store?

I wish I could find some Schenley's OFC, but it looks like it's unavailable now.

The cold has set in and looks like it will stay. was 2 degrees when I got up and they say -8 tonight. So yesterday I did the taxes and tomorrow we will clean the oven. May as well use that self-cleaning heat for the house.

Not much else.

Wifey and Sister are off on chair shopping trips. If Wifey buys one, get call and go pick it up. "I'll feed you."

Train Box. Sun is out until later this evening. Biggie TV station guessers says wintery mix. Other say maybe. Temps in the 50's. Never gets below freezing all night.

Train Box and install new building.

When you go to pick it up check to make sure it doesn't come with leather straps and electrode attachments on it. Whistling

Aloha. As Kevin said, it is bitter cold - high is supposed to be zero. Looks like we may have this for the week. Glad for the roof over our heads and heat.

Fife, Oooh, thanks for the heads-up. I will have to look where I can see the P Cup finals.

Doug, I'm sure the Chief's new chair would have built-in massagers and drink coolers.

37 and light rain.  Sausage biscuits, eggs and GRITS.  [Wifey cooked]  No Super Bowl for us.  Use to go out to eat as no one in restaurants.  Seems more and more join us.  Not this year as virus thingy.

Slept late and enjoyed the ZZZZzzz.

Menards Church coming Tues. [the say]  About all the buildings I can get on layout.  Lots of track.  Next, kitbash some buildings.  Got some Lionel grain elevators and coaling stations kits.  Think I can put them together and make one big building out of each.  They will fit where I have single buildings already.

Doug, Wifey's reading chair in her reading corner of the den.

Have a great and safe week ahead.  Hope all keep power during the winter storm up north.

Afternoon all!

Missed yesterday - no real reason - I ain't doin' much...

Yes there is a bill being crafted in Congress to 'fix' the US Post Office. Local members have been inundated with complaints. About time - the release noted the underfunding issues...

Cold here but sunny today - if it materializes they are talkin' some real cold in the next 2 weeks (bad for the boys in the nawth) - seasonal for here - will have 50's and then some weeks with below freezin', particularly at night - low 20's/upper teens - when we have real snow (and let me be clear - were talking a citywide shutdown with yes, 1 -2" !) it usually happens in the Valentines Day timeframe.

If ya want an idea of what has happened to my ability to taste food - go and get a 1/4 teaspoon of raw cocoa and put it in your mouth - that is what chocolate treats taste like to me.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

News people told us big winter storm Saturday night.  Woke up to a....dusting...LOL... did not even cover the grass.   Sometimes you wonder.   Finished H--- on Wheels.  Was glad I saw it, but probably not watch it again, not even clips on Youtube.  I hope everybody has a good day.

Aloha. Dang, it is cold here - high of zero yesterday - only single digits for the next ten days. It is a first world problem but annoying to have to jump our 'outside' car with the new battery every day. If this was more than an unusually long cold snap, I'd do something more permanent about that. I'm also driving our youngest to school and work so the older cars don't sit in the lot all day.

Enjoyed the spectacle of the Super Bowl but only for a half - unmemorable commericals too. Didn't root for anyone either. Puttered around the basement.

DJSpanky
Didn't watch a lick of the game last night: we had better things to do with our time.

Us neither.  Neither myself or Lady Firestorm are football fans and besides, if it's not the Giants or the Jets playin' who cares anyway?

We DID watch the "Puppy Bowl" on "Animal Planet!"  So sweet you'd need an insulin shot afterward!

Good Monday Morning!

Saturday night Jenni made cornish hens and that was a great dinner.  Whilst she was preparing dinner, I organized the train items in the basement and they are all in 1 spot and off the floor.  I will be bringing home my First Responders set and the Log Loader she gave me for Christmas.  We'll be making plans to clear out that side of the basement to make a nice layout of O, N and Z trains.

Sunday we had "Brunch" and it snowed most of the day.  Jenni went to play in the snow for a bit, at 3 we went outside to shovel her out.  Then the Magnum was dead, fortunately, I had my battery charger and extension cord so after we finished digging out, we watched the African Queen and let the battery charge.  Jenni's cousin invited us to a virtual football pool, found out later we won $100.  Nope, we were too busy to watch that "football game".  Stopped at BK for a quick bite, then to Mom's to dig her out.  Back to Jenni's for a bit and then home.  7" and my back and shoulders are screaming at me, like Spank.....

Roy - good to see you - sometime the sense of taste is overrated.....lol

Fife - Been looking at lighting options - so, your advice has not gone unheeded.  Just need more time to get up there.  I have 2 meetings this week, so that puts another crimp in the schedule.  I'll refrain from the Snohizio excuse...

16F when I got up and cold - Sun is out.

Off to work - not looking forward to the "special project" we all have at work.  I can retire in 4.5 years --- HA!!!

Back later
