Flint, I hear ya on the loss of your Furbaby. I still have the ashes of my little four footed fur buddy cabinet maker in the urn on the mantle. He was well known at the lumber yards and the bank, the tellers actually had treats for him and other fur babies at the drive-up window. His older brother is buried in the back yard but just haven't been able to let go yet, won't say how long it's been.

Still waiting for word on the COVID shots here. The high-risk people are getting them first, which is fine. No word on when we get them, or even if you get a lollypop afterward.
Post office is really a cluster (ahem.) Got a Christmas card Wednesday that was mailed 12/10/20. I mean really.
Had to put Ginger the Attack Basset to sleep yesterday, she was diagnosed with lymphoma (yes, apparantly dogs can get it too) and was holding her own until this time last week, then it was rapidly downhill for her. It was the right thing to do but even after 8 Bassets it never gets easier. We're trying to get used to a house with no dog, it seems like less of a home, you know?
Any of you folks with dogs, give them a hug for us, will you?

Vaccinations, here, not yet, LaSalle county is still in phase 1A. I did get a e-mail from the doctor with a link to sign up for when we hit 1B. LaSalle county is one seventh the size of the state of NJ but we only have 108,699 people here. I don't know where they will be doing the shots yet.
Our daughter gets her shot on the 22nd, she works in health care so she wants me to take her and wifey to whatch the kids that day. She lives by Joliet in Will county, Joliet has 148,000 people alone. Will county has about 678,000 people. So I guess I will wait to she what happens here for my shot. Wife has to waite till phase 1C. She is not 60 yet.

Vaccinations in NC. A zoo. Gov. dropped the age limit to 65 and above. Problem, no one doing it in Wake Co. 75 and above only. Why? State holding doses. Some counties doing fairly well. Wake Co. can't get doses until 16th. Then only 20K. We have over 1 million in population in Wake Co. WakeMed the biggie hospital here is suppose to be the vaccination site suddenly [Gov dropped that on us as County ready to do for free] can't get the doses. I can register in another county and get one. Not going to do. My CVS lady said she had been notified she has some being shipped. When they come in, she will text me. N&W aux. tender did NOT come by USPS. Called. Told me still in Raleigh. Told her tracking said Rolesville. She got mad. Well, not on informed delivery today. That means it was in Rolesville. Getting tired of the lying of the USPS. Hope all are well and stay safe.

Today's weather was unseasonably lovely; mid-50s and sunny. I was able to make the last trip to the landfill and burn some leaves. The wife and I also enjoyed a coffee date and a trip to the Home Depot. She also tolerated my quick stop at the comic book shop. We had grilled rib-eye steaks for dinner and I am now sipping some red wine.

No train news, other than I have gotten some equipment moved from Mo. to our place in Mi. Have enough to set up a small layout and have a few choices to run. I keep looking at my Great Lakes Special set safely boxed in the basement. Need to clean off a table and get some tracks down.
Took a step towards becoming a ward of the state - got my application in for Medicare, and saw the insurance guy today to sign up for the supplemental policies. This is really going to cut down on on the expenses compared to the marketplace policy we've had for the last year!
I'll try to stop by a little more often.
Morning up. Couple of boiled eggs and coffee. 45 and cloudy. Suppose to get sunny and extra warm.Few errands and Train Box work. Got extra Menards transformers and getting their LED light strips to light up some old buildings. Everything comes in individual boxes that are mainly empty. Guess they don't have smaller boxes. Think their confusion is shipping individual items from different places. more boxes coming tomorrow by USPS.Checked the feeders at the farms. All OK but Fred's. Actually looked like someone drove through his food plot. Cable had been changed. Meant someone knew where the hidden key was. I think I know who. Lots of the places are flooded or water running down shooting lanes to the branches.This is one stand. Flooded all the way to the feeder [far back of photo]. Water backed up from neighbor's woods. Spring, trees will suck it dry in a hurry.Fred there hunting squirrels. Well, the squirrels are not cooperating. Seeing deer he didn't see during deer season. Have a good one.
Happy Pre-FridayOutside decorations are inside - I brought all the extension cords in to defrost so I can wind them up in a nice circle before storing them away.Jenni came over with salads for dinner and she helped Mom get most of the decorations off the tree. Saturday I'll get everything up in the attic and break the tree down for storage.
Probably run the 2037 again prior to me putting it away. Dad's engines (1666, 2037 nad a 196s Texas Special) are stored away until I can mark all the engines and rolling stock. My Princess wants to have everything marked, and I agree with that, so they stay part of the family. I collapsed about 1030 - been too tired lately, weird work hours and meetings at the beginning of the month suck.Department meeting tonight - my first as Senior Trustee AND Vice President - this should prove interesting.Should be in the 40s today and the sun is out.Banks - Hope your son misses the cut....

Good morning, gentlemen. Cloudy and 32 along the Allegany front range. Heading up the mountain to visit FifeMom afterwhile. She fell a few days ago, and is a bit sore.
Wifey is a happy little backwoods Barbie, as her new Maytag washer arrived Tuesday. It has a glass top, and she and the youngest spent 50 minutes watching it going through its paces. Still better viewing than anything on ABC.
Appliace Parts Pros came through with a heating element for the range, and it took me about 20 minutes to replace the old one, which fell apart in my hands. I now bask in the orange neon glow of electric heat.
Stopped off at JoAnn's yesterday, and they were having a 40% off sale on Spring floral picks. It was my best haul ever on flowering stems and "trees". Received a koo-pen for additional 20% off through end of the month, so I'll be back.
Roy must really be feeling it this week, so emphasis on for him.
Was feeling a little meh the other night, so went into the train room, got down on the carpet, and ran my good ol' 2026. Held my face right beside the tubular track, letting the odor of light oil, pill smoke, and ozone waft into the nose. The engine had no issue pulling the 10 freight cars (new and old), with a Lionel animated caboose on the tail. The hum and dial illumination on the LW (thanks Brent) added the final bit of nostalgia. The experience could be described in one word...pure.

Nothing exciting today. Norfolk Southern's latest layoffs have son the next to go at the Juniata locomotive Shop, not looking good. I think somebody posted they received the February issue recently. Haven't seen mine.

Quiet day at work. Sun tried to come out. After work, saw the Honda train, did 3.4 mile walk and brought the trash can around, all in 1.5 hours. Later on, made a 3 course meal (courtesy of leftovers and the microwave) for the missus, who is still feeling kind of puny. I hope everyone has a good day.

A bit colder today; it was 25 when I woke today. Took the older son to school and did a quick workout at the gym. Had a relaxing morning and did some more clean up around the garage. I have to make one more trip to the landfill but don't think it will happen today. I am about to start slowing cooking some beef country style ribs for dinner.

Busy day at work. Pain 2 tried to stir up trouble but chose the wrong medium (written word) to do it in. Was quickly corrected as to what the situation was. Very satisfying but also terribly annoying that some people never learn how to cooperate. Do not want to retire earlier than planning to, but too many more incidents like that and I am gone. Sun finally appeared. That helped. Saw the Honda train as well. Ken Jennings is doing a nice job on Jeopardy. I hope everyone has a good day.

Need a haircut bad. The people at the place we go don't social distance So we're staying away SJ SAID "In the next 4 years gas will be going higher and higher. Along with other oil related products such as plastic and items made from it."
I'll agree with that and go a step further. Every thing will go up due to higher taxes being passed along. As far as power plants go coal can be burned clean. BUT it costs a lot to do it. Wind energy would cost more than fossil fuel energy if it weren't for the subsidies. Nuclear should be given more consideration.
Didn't do much on the weekend. Yesterday's project was going for a ton of coal and getting it in the house.
Today I replaced both front wheel bearings on the BLAZER, rides a lot quieter now.
Late supper tonight. Watching 2 chicken halves in the rotisserie. Mrs is making scalloped potatoes. Best go do the barn work between basting. Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.
Decent enough today weatherwise today. The invisible fence was installed today so the puppy can be on his own outside, after some more training of course. I was able to make two trips to the landfill today; well over 1000 pounds of junk that accumulated from home renovations. I grilled some chicken for dinner and now it's time to relax.
Haircuts: since our Princess started training at Paul Mitchell, this no longer has to pay for haircuts and doensn't even have to leave the house either.
Nice Vietnamese lady does my hair. Her Dad fled when Siagon fell. Got them out one year later. "Me hate the Commist."

I guess I'm lucky, my haircuttery was closed for a time but has been open for the past several months. No problem if you make an appointment first.
Since I get a haircut once a month whether I need it or not I'm almost due, next week most likely.
I think my last hair cut was in November 2019. I was about to get another like march but the corvid thing kicked in and we started staying home as the counts were going crazy around here. Be over 65 and having inlaying health issues I didn't want to take any chances. Once I can get the two shots I will then see about going to get a haircut. I need one. I have never had my hair touching my shoulders until now.

Above freezing for a change with full sun so melting is going on. That time of year, first plow the snow off the lane, now plow it back on top of the ice so you can get enough traction to get up the hill!!

Menards packages are suppose to arrive by USPS today. So is my N&W aux. tender. Yesterday it was 5:10 when one Menards package arrived. One year ago, you could depend on USPS arriving around 11:30. If late, no later than 1.

USPS has not delivered today's mail. Getting later everyday. Wanted to use the Menards package in the Train Box. Got N&W aux. tender coming from IL. In PO this AM. Says will arrive Thursday. We'll see. Sometimes packages sit in Raleigh at the "plant" for days.
It has been raining most of the day here. We had some unexpected snow flurries early this morning but it turned to rain by 10:00 AM. I scheduled some time off from work this week to clean up around the garage, but the rain has prevented any work today. I'm not complaining as I took care of some other odds and ends.

Chief they do that if they have to pull stock from a store to fill the order. Had it happen to me on some tool sets I wanted to get for the grand sons this Christmas. Only showed two left as it ended up they only had one.
