Hey, Happy Monday!!

90s today so far - looks hot out there, maybe I'll go out after work - AT 630PM!!!! Bang Head

Nothing really train related - was without power from Tuesday at 1030 to Friday night at 1030 - I hope JCP&L enjoyed that $1 BILLION they spent on nothing cuz they didn't upgrade $hit after Sandy......borrowed a generator for a day....

Got Jenni's treasure trove of N scale on the work bench.  New layout calls for N scale in the moutains and on western part of the L shaped layour with a town, station and main street. On the North end of the L will be the N scale in the mountains and the O scale in front with main street, a passing siding and back through the mountains in the background.  Once we get the basement in order, then it's go time.  Also planning a HO Slot Car track and Air Hockey table.

A friend of Jenni's just got her Dad's '56 Bel Air post car in her new garage.  needs paint, hasn't run since the '80s, inside storage.  Shouldn't be hard to get this piece up and running - Stovebolt 6 with 3 on the tree.  And it's very complete with spare parts.

2046 converted to a 4-6-2 Pacific really looks good and runs great.  Smokes like a house fire.....262E is cleaned, the brass polished and it runs amazing, also got my 1668 Streamliner running like a champ.  This is what happens in quarentine....lol!!

Mike C - at least you can watch it on TV ----

Got the Magnum started and in the driveway Pre-stupid named storm - miss that car.

Not much else - Mom is better, blood test was today - cardio doc tomorrow

Need to start getting to a date and booking wedding stuff soon.....

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Just a fast pass,
Weather guessers say a storm running east from Iowa at 45 to 50 mph is coming are way with 85mph winds. So, I had better batten down the hatches. If that is the case it will sure destroy the corn crop by knocking it flat.

That is wild about the big shake by you Chief!
Not much else here. I did get on to this site with the smart phone through Chrome but I could not type anything OR LOG OFF!!!!! So last try for that. This site is just  junk.
Stay safe!

Morning. Redhots and egg. Followed by a leftover Krispy Kreme.

Hot and humid as usual. 93 right now. Chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and throughout the whole week.

Being lazy today. Tomorrow, early out tax appeals board hearings most of the day.

Mow grass as growing fast and furious.

Believe it or not.  Houses damaged and streets cracked in and near Sparta NC.  One video showed brick ranch style house with one wall that the bricks collapsed.

Enjoy your day.

Happy Monday all!

Still pretty warm - ha - as if it would be any different this time of year! Cool

Not much to report. Working on the last two window frame/trim rebuilds. Will be glad when this project is over (been working on it for 3 years now). A lot of cutting and fitting for each window. Some motar work to fill gaps so caulking hs something to adhere to. Then a lot of back painting and caulking the trim (for weather) to get them installed - then final paint. All in all, about a week per window.

Have a great day all!

DJ - how did the cake come out Cake

Morning. Hot and humid as usual. Chance of thunder boomers this afternoon. Cable got fixed around 5:30 yesterday between thunder storms. Was a simple amplifier in line in box outside. The cable folks were telling their executives it was a whole node out. Couldn't be as we had great fast internet. Buddy supervisor finally got the word. Had a guy right out in 2 hours. Suppose to call his cell from now on and skip the BS.

Don, sounds good and stay that way.

Spank, you don't do things in attics in NC this time of the year.  If so, very early in the AM.  I have a big gable vent fan that is thermostat controlled.  Runs a lot now.  I have an override switch at the top of folding stairs.  Flip it and fans runs all the time.  If we have to go up this time of the year, flip it on.

Not so busy week with only tax appeals hearings Tuesday. Maybe get to the farms and work.

Hope all are OK.

I couldn't find any ammonia at ShopRite. Amazed how bare the shelves in the cleaner aisle were.

Man, you KNOW things are bad when Shop-Rite doesn't have what you need!

The cleaner aisles aren't much better here at the local Publix.  I can't get "Clean Shower," got the last one two weeks ago and haven't seen it since.  A lot of the heavy-duty stuff's wiped out.  No problem with TP but tissues and napkins are problematic.

Mornin' boys.  Foggy on the mountain right now, which adds a little mystique to my coffee, as I sit outside with FifeMax.  Thanked the Man Upstairs for all of my blessings.  Spent yesterday with Mom, just watching tv, and talked about how cool it would be if wild parrots roosted in the birch out back.  Called Fifepup on speaker.  We mentioned the wedding next year, which made her tear up...

Wilted FlowerSigh

Need to get to Sherwin Williams for a couple gallons, for the shed painting this week.  30% off thru tommorow.

Hello there.

Been reading but not posting lately.
Another week down.

Since I'm going to be 65 next month l spent some time this week learning how much I don't know about Medicare supplement insurance. Signed up for a plan but I'm not going to save much money because some of the drugs I take are "tier 4" meaning they pay a small percentage while I cover the bulk of the cost. Plus my out of pocket starts now and will restart Jan 1. Even though I signed up in September I can explore options again in October. Still not sure I 100% understand it all.

I finaly started to replace the Tahoe radiator that was overflowing tranny fluid. Decided while it was out of the way I might as well change the water pump, then I decided at 120k it's could use a timing chain. Got the radiator out and found the engine oil cooler lines both seeping, the lower tranny cooler line and right front brake line severely rusted.

Working on that in between gardening with a bit of farming thrown in, we got a whole 0.1 inches of rain out of the storm.

Spanky.......looks good.

Don..... glad the El Camino is back, pictures.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Good Morning,

Chief, good news on your back!  Keep up the good work !

Brutus, That is outrageous about the house, I've never heard of such a thing,  Somebody should have been watching a little closer.

Dennis, Good luck with the battery, I'm sure you will do fine with the PEP Boys one also.  I've had good luck with them too.

Kevin, You are not the only one with those "reassembly gooofs", I OFTEN have to do things 2x,  I rrationalize it away by the fact I'm left handed.

Roy, I just found out NASCAR has released the schedule and seems to be a number of changes.  Announcers on Xifinity race this morning seems to think its total choas.

Fife, Hope the anticpated NEWS comes through soon for you!

Smokey 1, Hope you loose the cold soon, and good luck with the haircut!

Definitely have had a couple of interesting DAYS!
 - Had follow up appt with Dr., all is well and was successful!  Got the stent out out, and everything back to normal!

- Got new shoes from VA
 - PICKED UP THE EL CAMINO YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.  IT REALLY LOOKS AND ACTING GREAT!
 - Yesterday was the 7th anniversary of when I fell off the engine and screwed up my leg.   7yrs later and STILL WALKING! YAHOO!

Going to do some tinkering around today, so better get started!

I have a cupon for a dicsount on a Pep Boys battery so I will try them.

I don't know if you've got an "AutoZone" out your way but I've used their batteries for years and they're very good.

I've never heard anything bad about "Pep Boys" batteries though.

89 and more showers guessed.  Delivered 10 extra boxes than usual.  Had 235.  Got through faster.  Had lots of help today.  I didn't lift a one due to back procedure.  Big problem.  Out in the county, no where to pee.  Ladies helping have the same problem.  If I didn't have three vehicles following me with ladies and teenage girls, could stop by the road as some are scarcely traveled.   When I finish, rush home.  They rush to the nearest fast food.  Long time partner delivering, may stop by here.

Now R&R.

Enjoy your day.

Morning from a sunny and cool North Bluff. Boy we have had a nice string of perfect weather. High 50s to low 60s at night with low to mid 80s for the days. Guessers say it will all end tomorrow.

Using MS Edge to get on and off. Tried to log on with the new MOTO 2020 smart phone yesterday but it would not let me because the site is not secure. Go figure.

Never was into MR or their forum. To many better than thou from what I have seen.

Spent yesterday afternoon servicing the transaxle on the Hustler Raptor SD. Went good till I went to try it out and then it would not power the right side drive. After a lot of brain drain I found that somehow in the process I had pulled the tow lever out so the right drive was disengaged. Bang Head  Laugh Once I found that all was fine.

Hope SJ is doing fine.

Be good.

Morning folks!

A normal hot day on tap! Cool

I am a MR subscriber since the 80's. Bought the magazine since the late 60's. I also remember the expansion into some toy train stuff and then the CTT breakoff. The magazine today is much smaller and for whatever reason, the photo quality the last two or three years varies greatly - from grainy to sharp. Never had grainy pics in the past. And like CTT - too much verbiage vs photos (if Kalmbach is reading this - a picture is worth a thousand words). Not sure I am gonna renew MR this year. There are some very good online model RR mags now that have expanded photos and text (if ya wanna read it).

Mornin' boys.  Damp and foggy along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Time this week has been split between the honey-do's, and visiting FifeMom.  Did take youngest princess out driving a few times, as well.  Just a little bit of time spent in the train room, as running out of scenery material again.  Absolutely no word from railyard...

Getting a heavy dose of MR ads emailed to me the last couple of days.

Coincidence...?

Morning had meeting at Extension Office. Food hub planning with Extension Director and Food Security manager. Left for farms at noon.

Returned from the farms. Everything looks great. Now tin blown off of the big old packhouse. One plastic chair under the shelter had blown over. The stack of them next to it had not. All AOK. Campers too. Tobacco crop was massive. Primed one time or more. Soybeans [in smaller fields look great]. Sandy loam soil so could drive around fields. GlasStar Plus sprayed last trip had worked. Lots of fire ants up as water runs them up. I've seen big thunderstorms cause more wind damage. Crops were NOT blown over.

Got home and a big thunderstorm had hit middle of the afternoon. 8/10" rain. Must have flood down as water did run through the tractor side of the shelter.

Ate a famous Parker Brothers Bar-b-q. Had pork bar-b-q, fried chicken, boiled potatoes. brunswick stew and cold slaw [yellow kind]. Lots of corn sticks and sweet ice tea.

It wouldn't surprise me if the "Garden Railways" content gets folded back into "Model Railroader,"  I remember getting "MR" prior to when "CTT" hit the stands and "MR" did have articles concerning G gauge at the time, in addition to O gauge.

Although it goes without saying in those days HO and N scales dominated "MR."

To all,

Saw where Garden Railways is shutting down.  Makes me nervous about CTT as well.  Wonder if everything won't go back to MR at some point.

Well, I DID log off the Kalmbach site once, and man, did I go through hell trying to log back on!  Wound up calling Customer Service to put it right!

Mind you it was the one time only, but I'd be lying if I said I'm still not a little spooked.  On the other hand, when I do a "cookie purge" I'm automatically logged off but haven't had any problems logging back in afterward.

By the way, I don't bother to log-off the Kalmbach sites myself.  I've never had an issue.

Flintlock,

First time for everything. I would rather not push it just because of those "pajama-wearing gnomes living in their mother's basements"   Smile, Wink & Grin

Dennis, As for turning off the tablet I would at least do it now and then so it can up-date and install securty up-dates. I know that when I got this new smart phone the tell you to shut it down now and then so up-dates can be done. I know people who never turn of their devices but from what I have been told it is best you do now and then at least.

We are having May weather in Aug??? I will take it, back to the 90 next week.

Mike, don't let it get you down, just think of all the money you will save. Yes

So now I have started to leave it on all the time, just close the lid. Is that bad?

I wouldn't.  If you're on all the time you're "live," for lack of a better term, all the time and on-line all the time.  When I'm not using my lap-top for several hours or overnight I turn it off.  Now while there's nothing on my lap-top that a hacker might be interested in, and I mean nothing, I figure why take chances?  There's those little "pajama-wearing gnomes living in their mother's basements" that'll cause trouble just because they can.

By the way, I don't bother to log-off the Kalmbach sites myself.  I've never had an issue.

85 and sunny. Not as hot today but humid [all this water has to evaporate]. Think storm took hot air to the North.

Do NOT have to take chemo tablets on Saturday nights anymore.   Only real reaction is feel like crap on Sundays. No alcohol as I reacted badly with to it. Lady Dr. and hubby [he is a Dr. too] going back to Berkley where they moved her from. Hubby got super big offer. He is a cardiologist. Now if I can get the back thing fixed without surgery. Injections this afternoon.

Go pick tomatoes for the lady that checks me in at back Dr.'s. She insists on her [not the other lady] checking me in and out. Bribe them with tomatoes.

Chewed butt in Human Services Live Well Wake leadership team meeting. Ignoring my Hispanic community.

Good Morning,

That was certainly some explosion in Beiruit!

Chris bought me a book for Fathers Day, "Lincoln Conspiracy" which was a good read.  Then got me "The First Conspiracy" about Geo Washington.  Both are non-fiction and very interesting.  So had my head in the 2nd one most of the day.

Today going to the VA and pick-up some shoes, they provided them due to the Diabetes and really work well.  I also get them modified to accomodate my right leg.  So a win, win situation.

Then go by and check the El Camino out, it should be being painted and available in the next couple of days.  So that ought to be fun.

Kevin, glad to see you back, hopefully it will continue to work for you.

SJ, Miss your witt.  I respect your decision, and concern for security.  I don't know maybe dumb or just lucky on my part, I haven't logged out in so long, I couldn't tell you.  But, haven't had any issues.

Mike, Hope your able to find an alternative for the weekend, maybe a headset and be able to watch the race.  GOOD LUCK!

Roy, Like the flagpole fix, that is pretty good!

Fifedog, Looking forward to your big reveal! Got some ideas.

Time to get busy, breakfast on its way.

Have a good-one!

Don

SJ ( Sir James ) has asked to tell you all he is reading every day, but will not come back and post, until they fix it where you can log out, without having to clear your cookies.

I believe Kevin is the same

Me, it is what it is.

That is correct. I have been reading but want them to fix it because everytime I have to clear cookies to get out it kills my access to everything else and I have to reset all passwords. Bad enough this site is "not secure" but not being able to log off kills it. I am trying this from EDGE not Firefox to see how it works.

Otherwise all is fine here on The North Bluff.

Wish me luck logging off. Sad

UP-Date.. It logs off from MS EDGE.  Yes
