Yep, maybe we could meet somewhere, BUT I DONT WANT TO INTERFERE WITH HOLIDAY/FAMILY PLANS.

Mornin' boys. Partly sunny and 64 in the Potomac Highlands. Gonna take in a car show at the fairgrounds, as well as the MD/WV HO RR club. Yesterday we visited Mario's Trains, in Winchester, VA, then headed north up Rte 11 into Inwood, WV, and checked out Loco Joe's. He has a complete hobby store, with lots of trains in every scale. I picked up 3 more rolls of plaster cloth, and a weeping willow tree. Then we completed a loop of the eastern panhandle, scooping up the youngest princess from college, bringing her home for the long weekend.
Evening folks!
A great day today weather wise. Got the basement window build completed. Ready for paint. We went to a neighbors for dinner.
DonB - great trip and visit!
Regards, Roy
Evening All,Yep, its me on tour! Now in NC, vistin' da chief. Had a WONDERFUL time at Roy's place! We visited a Car Museum, AND a TOW TRUCK Museum! That was extremely interesting, as well as the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. Then Look Out Mountain and the national park for the civil war battle held there. So intriguing. And just for fun a boat ride. Sure was a great time! ThankstodThen drove to Charlotte, wanted to see the Charlotte speedway. A 1 hour tour was available, signed up and ended up being upgraded to the 2 hour tour. Took a couple laps on the track, then to all 3 racing facilities there and garage/pit areas, and finally the press/club boxes. Fantastic! Much, Much more to see but didn't have time.Got to da Chiefs place, and the "Southern Hospitality" is in full force here! Visited the Bentonville Battlefield very very moving. Looking forward to going out to the "farm" tomorrow and of course the Box.Did manage to get the oil changed in the El Camino today, don't know why everyone laughs when they find out I've driven the car from Ca..Monday going to head north toward PA, then turn left. On the way back home, I want to stop at the "Gold Spike" in North Platte, and the Colorado Train Museum in Golden. (The curator there worked with me at Knotts, and was iin the engine when I fell and screwed up my leg.)The biggest issue I have is time, I have some Dr appts I have to get back for. I really appreciate all the invites and PLEASE do not take offense if I don't make it in your area. It's not that I wouldn't too, but don't see how I can. I plan on going up 95 on Labor Day. And I wouldn't want to affect anyones Labor Day plans. So far the biggest issue I have had is the cell phone and battery, never even thought about the cell phone being old, and the battery may fail. (I wont take a charge.) So I have one on order and I hope I will be able to intercept it enroute. Actually all things considered a very insignificant problem.Indeed prayers for you Brutus!! And Anjdevil/Dad.So take care and be safe! (I know there is a lot I've forgot)
BTW, doe 95 go anywhere near you guys in the W.VA panhandle?
Good evening all,
Washed off moss and algae growing on shady sides of the house today. Getting set up was complicated but the actual use was not so bad. Did some other errands as well. Weather got warmer. AJ's team showed signs of not being so bog slow today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Cooled down some so I cut some grass till my Hay fever made me quit. It will still be there tomorrow. I won't recover till it snows.
Phish,
Our Rusty Ranger is red to.
Here it is right after I got it then after I installed the plow.
We have had it 2.5 years now and I have put 13,000 miles on it. Paid $1,000, spent another $1,000 fixing stuff I wanted to and then added the plow. Not bad for what I have in it. V6 4.0 engine, super cab, AT, and 4x4 with 4.10 gears.
Paid as much for the plow as I have in the truck.
fifedog Instead of a boxcar interchange, seems we have a "shake-and-bake" interchange. If you get near the WV panhandle, let me know, Don. Speaking of CPI, I ran my Chessie era equipment for Tom last night, including good ol' Lionel 9600. It still has the cool laminated business card Don produced for each of us, and the not-so-cool little sack of grits inside. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago.

Good Morning from beautiful 63°F Southern Ohio,
It has been a beautiful night but starting to get foggy. After getting up yesterday afternoon used the Red Ranger to get some corn and a mineral block for the deer up on the hill. Came home and degreased the motor. It was not too bad and did not take long. Moved a washer for a friend with the RR and then in to work. Tonight was the last of the night shifts until November. Great to sleep normal, but have to put up with the dayshift bustle. Both wear on you.
Fife - I believe I can understand your mixed feelings getting called back to work. My bride has a name for one of the deer that frequents the feeder, “Lisa”
Kev - you’ve given me an idea for a “name” for the Ranger, the “Red Ranger” or RR for short.
Brent - sounds like you are going to be getting busy
Need to check on the crew
May God bless you and your families
Jim
A good weather day. Very productive work day, moreso than expected. Not so good day on the pitch as all three matches ended in shutouts with the home town teams being on the zero end of the score. I hope everyone has a good day.
Been awol a few days. Hosted DonB for a couple of days. Had a great time even though it rained most of the time. Sent him to parts east Wed after breakfast at a local diner. After that spent the last 1 1/2 days prepping the boat for winterization and storage in the garage. Finally shoved it into the garage about 7 pm tonight. Beat...
Morning. Sunny and very low humidity. Beautiful day.
Expecting a wonderer from CA to arrive.
Have a good one.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 55 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. My good buddy, Tom, is coming today to stay the weekend. Spent last night cleaning off the layout, and straightening up the train room. Wifey was impressed. All 4 lines were wiped down and running well.
Getting called back to railroad. Big Boss phoned me, and I start next Friday. I have enjoyed being "on holiday" this summer. Mixed feelings...
Productive day at work. Nice weather. Hmmm. Moving and buying out of state seems to be a real according to Brent and Kevin's tales. Ugh Ugh Ugh. I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning. Got to mow grass as rains have caused it to jump. Clean in Train Box. Run some pickup errands with pickup for Wifey. Buying things she can't haul.
CRV in shop [local]. Passenger side mixing control shot. Honda only part. Makes it high dollar repair. Better than one month's car payment.
Brent, sounds exciting. Will be glad when you are in new house.
Later.
Mornin' FellasKev - That is how it is in all states with sales tax. In PA all but 2 counties are 6%, the two with Pittsburgh and Philly are 7%. When I moved to MD (5% tax at the time), I wanted to transfer my title from PA to MD... well the DMV wouldn't do it unless I showed that I paid MD 5% ST... so I would have to pay MD the 5% on the value of the car, and submit for a refund on the 6% I paid to PA... what!?!? I told the lady I don't care about the PA sales tax, just issue me a title... she says she can't unless I pay the MD sales tax. I didn't buy the car in MD!!!!! So the next day I traded it in on a new car. It is insane how difficult government entities make like, and it isn't necessary. I have heard moving to VA is even worse.Slowly getting things in order for the move. We need to have all TVs, computer, and base phone (we have a phone system with 1 base and 6 remote handsets) setup for xFinity to activate service. Need xFinity services activated before security company can come install the new security system the next day. So priority is going to be getting the truck emptied Monday evening as well as the mobile attic. But before we can do anything of that we have to get the wall under the chairrail painted in the dinning room where the china closet will be (that won't be too hard), may even try to get the wall in the gathering room behind the entertainment center painted. Hopefully my Mom and TheQ can do that... that way I can get stuff moved in (beds), then when they are done with the walls they can make beds. LOL... all about logistics. Dad can help me or watch the kids. Also would love to make a trip to the storage units Monday evening... that way we can unload it while xFinity is setting up service.Yes - we do have a list of things that need to get done, and in what order. Computers make this a bit easier than pen and paper.
Mornin' boys. Overcast and 66. Phish is sending his rain east to me. Spent yesterday morning "roughing in" some green paint over the layout's bare plaster areas, and after dinner planted trees. Honestly, I spend too much time placing each tree, but this is because I'm modelling spring, and the pinks, whites, purples, reds, and yellows need a certain "blending".
Well, we weren't empty-nesters long. Seems we have a foster child, named "George". George is the name Wifey gave to the 250 lb black bear, that our trail cam caught, as he stood up and carefully lifted the bird feeder off it's hook. All this happened yesterday, between 0600-0630.
88 - Just some occasional squeaking.
Banks - Mend quick.
Good Morning from humid 70°F Southern Ohio,
We’ve have a few inches of rain over the past few days. Over the past weekend I was pressure washing the house in preparation for staining. It is coming along nicely. I’ve also been working on the 98 Ranger we bought. Got the O2 sensor changed out, speedometer replaced and the EGR system working. I’ve drove it to work the past few nights and it is running better with each trip. It is a nice little truck and fun to drive. The chicks we bought this past February are laying now so we now have 7 laying hens. Nothing new on the train front. Bride is going for her 6 weeks post-surgery visit. She is doing really well but beginning to do more than she should and by evening she is wiped out.
Banks - That is a nice shotgun. It is similar to an Ithaca 87 I have. It will probably pattern about 36 inches at 12 foot
Don - Your road trip sounds great. Should you get close to southern Ohio and want to stop by and have supper and spend the night you are more than welcome.
Kev - Nice Gator!!!
Fife - I don’t know what it would be like without the kids here and their friends keeping things hopping.
Good night and may God bless you and your families
Hello there,
a minor procedure yesterday caused me to do little yesterday and today.
I've been looking for a scatter gun to keep in the bedroom for a couple of years. I've been watching this one and found it on sale this weekend. Picked it up at Dick's and they price matched this ad. It's one of those things you pray you never need but take comfort in having it.
We've been getting a few maters from our garden but not a lot. Today Mrs' brother gave us a bushel. We got 7 quart of whole maters from half of them today. Tomorrow the rest will make +/- 8 guarts of soup.
Don.....sounds like you're having a great trip.
88.......bet you'll be glad when the move is complete.
Best get to sleep.
Prayers for those in need
Don B, sounds like a trip I should have taken instead of the past 3. Kev, bureaucrats = pain in posterior!!!! What a bunch of jerks. High school boys pounded a visiting team 6-2 in a game that was not that close. Work extremely busy. Got it all done. I hope everyone has a good day.
Afternoon FellasJust realized it has been a while since I posted. Closing is set for Sept 30. My parents have agreed to come down and help with the move as much as they can - honestly just having them here to attend to the kids and let contractors in for various appointments (cable, furniture deliveries, etc) will be a help. Dad and TheQ have agreed to help me vacate the storage units, so that will be fun. TheQ and I are working on a list of things that will go into each room (furniture delivery, movers, appliances, etc), so if TheQ is not home my parents can direct them. 34 nights and counting.Fife - sounds rather 'quiet' within your walls. Sounds like the princess and Fifepup are doing well.DonB - that sounds like an awesome trip!
Kev - nice wheels!Gotta run... more stuff to organize for the move!
Been cooler for the last few days. Off to Raleigh for meeting.
Good Evening,
Well thought I should check-in, I left home a week ago, and everything has been very enjoyable. I do have to admit, I have a tendancy to turn the simplest thing into an adventure. Been thru Flagstaff, Tucumcari, & Amarillo, listening to a lot of Louis L'Amore. Then took a detour to Dallas, and missed the flooding at Fort Smith. While in Dallas visited TW Trainworx, they have a great shop! And SO much stuff! Had lunch with George Watson, some of you may know.
Then headed north got to Texarkana, got a room and proceeded to lock the keys in the car! AAA was quick to the rescue. Found a local oval dirt track, so off to the races. Made ONE wrong turn, took me about 20 miles to realize, then turned around and got caught in torrent of rain. Found the track, the rain subsided, and the races were run, a little late but a very enjoyable evening. Left the track, went about 2 mi, and this guy driving a car with blue lights on the top wanted to interview me. Seems the light over the license plate was not lit, and he was very courteous and thought he should bring it to my attention. Next morning managed to lock my self out of the room, while loading the car.
Decided to continue on, (love all the Waffle Houses). Got a car wash while on the way to Jackson, TN. (wasn't planned, but didn't take much time at 50mph). Stopped at Jackson, home of Casey Jones & Casey Jones Vilage, browsed there but musseum was closed. Then headed to Nashville, then down toward Chattanoga. Did some unplanned countryside sightseeing. (Made a 3 hr trip into 4.5 hrs.) After spending a while in the uncharted area on the map, decided I would give Roy a call. He asked where I was, told him in the Walgreens parking lot, he told me all I neede to do was cross the mountain, and he would meet me on the shoulder after I merged on the Interstate. So I found that, and he found me! If he wouldn't have, I would still be roaming around admiring the scenery!
Been at Roy's, enjoying he and the Mrs's great southern hospitality! Today we visited a car museum, tow truck, museum, Choo-Choo hotel, and LST that particpated in the D-Day Invasion. (Even found time to fix the light).
Really having a GREAT time. Hope I haven't bored "ya-awl" with a too much detail.
Gas prices have been great, lowest so far was 2.09, sure beats 4.25!
