Kevin...My condolances to your family. Never easy. Many thanks for posting the gutter guard reference. It is nice to know of one that works.

Finally after 8 months I'm not running fans, dehumidifer, shop lights, etc on extension cords in the basement. I have an excellent collection of extension cords.

Grandma Camp I starts Saturday with fishing, mini-golf, swimming, tubing, wall climbing, ice cream, pie, petting farm, hiking, picknic, etc. No train activity this time.

Good Morning......

Busy yesterday, got 11 in and helped diagnose an Altima with an air conditioning issue.  Wiring was good into the A/C compressor, turns out the wiring at the compressor was bad.

On Wednesday softball, went 2 for 3 (fielder's choice), scored three times and as a pinch runner, scored the tying run in the bottom of the 7th for a 14-13 win.  We led 12-6 going into the 7th.....We get the week off for the 4th holiday and fire back up on the 8th.

Jenni treated me to dinner after the game and it was a very nice romantic time, I treated her to ice cream afterwards.  A great evening all around.

90's and a bit humid, it's FINALLY summer, so I'll take it.  You'll never hear THIS GUY complain about hot weather, the winter time sucks, though.

So Jenni and I agreed to meet at the car show in Princeton last night and it was well attended.  Jenni went to my house to fetch her Charger and I rolled in with the Hemi Magnum, as there wasn't time to grab the roadrunner.  Hung with one of her friends, who, very interestingly, lives up the road from Princeton.  So we may get together with him and his SRT Hemi Grand Cherokee.

Got back to my house a little after 9 and sat down to watch some of the 2016 North East Hemi Owner's meet in Dulles, VA and a little of the 9/11 motorcycle run I was in.  Got back to my parents home by 11 and I was out.  Was a good time.

Tomorrow we'll clean out storage unit #3 and consolidate that into #2.  Need to get to the #1 unit and weed out her ex's crap and downsize into 1 maybe 1 and a half units.....that will save some cash on her end.  Freedom Fest at Mercer County Park in the evening, with fireworks, so I believe we will be going.

I'm part of a new "team" of knowledge based guys, where, if there is a technical question the help desk will weed out the question and send it to the appropriate person.....I got a Subaru question last night from a west coaster, who didn't know I was already gone for the day, after 5 PM.....

Kev - Prayers for your family.

End of month, so I'll be busy...check back later!

Hi and thanks for the prayers.
Get this,,,,,,,,,
Man, the business of death is sad in this country. So, she was un-hooked and let to fend on her own for two days till she passed to something better yesterday morning. As much as I hate to say it you would not let your dog or cat suffer like she had to before she gave in.
.So, the BIL calls and tells us about the MIL passing and that the hospital (Rush Copley, Aurora) said we could come and see Alice if we wanted because she was still in her room. Dead? Huh? So, I asked why she was not in the morgue and he said, “I don’t know” Well Sandra and I decided we did not need to go 50 miles to see her dead in the bed and figured they would be transferring her to the morgue soon anyway where she can be picked up the cremation place. About two hours later the BIL calls from the hospital and tells me the reason she is still in the room is because the morgue is full and they have no other place to put her???? WTH?? So, he started with all the other arrangements and when he called last night at 8:30pm she was still in the bed in the room. Bet they charge for the room too!!!
Just nuts!!!!!!    SoapBox
Enough for now.

Evening All!

Kev, sorry for your family's loss. Prayers Angel

Got first coat of paint on the rebuilt basement window. Glad that project is coming to  closure.

Folks started arriving for the big week of July 4th celebration we have. Lotsa on the water fun on tap and weather looks to be hot and fairly dry this coming week. We have been doing this get together in one form or another for 37 years. The core group was single when we started, most are married, and some have grandchildren.

Hello There,

Kev..........condolences. Looks like he's having a good time .

busy week. Finally got hay making weather helped son get equipment out and ready. Replaced all the knives, hold downs and several points on the haybine.

Wednesday Mrs and I made a trip to Bellville Pa. (a little over an hour) for the flea markets, Amish produce, livestock auction and bulk foods store. Scored 9 C6 bubble lights for cheap.

Spent over 2 hours cutting hay after returning.

Yesterday some yardwork and cultivating the garden among other things. Three year old dirt pile is allmost gone.

Today's cystoscope confirmed my fears. More roto-rooting needed on prostate. Thinking on scheduling that right after York.

Spent a couple of hours raking hay while son baled afterwards. Got about half of what's cut baled, +/- 50 round bales.

Hay

Been using Oliver a good bit lately due to an ominous sound coming from the rear end of the Massey. Got to open it up and see what's going on.

Rain make up drag tomorrow.

Best try to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Kev - condolances for your loss.

Banks - that is a nice looking Oliver.  Early 50's?

Went to the follow up appointment with the cardolgist.  He was happy with my progress.  About the only thing left is wrapping up the 30 day monitor study.  Could not really get a straight answer about the event that started the whole sequence, though.  Was definitely not a heart attack.  He was not really sure if the clogged artires were a cause or contributor.  Upshot is, we can get on with our summer plans.

I called my sister to update her on my recent adventures only to find out that she just had a hip replacement because teh ball had broken off of her femur.  I told her that her recent adventures trumped my recent adventures and we really do not need to compete with our medical issues.

On the train front, I received the NYC flat car with boat that I vaguely remember ordering.  Neat looking car - flat car is green boat has yellow hull with blue trim and a white deck.

All for now.

Way to go Banks.  Good old Oliver.

KEV, good grandson report.  Ignore daughter.

Try this.  Looked silly when Wifey bought me the wide brimmed version.  Wear it when working outside here and at the farms.  WORKS.  No sweat in eyes and on glasses.  Head stays cooler and I do not wet inside.

Good evening all,

First time to reply in a few days.  Forum will not work on iPhone.  First of all, Kev, so sorry to hear of your loss and the less than considerate treatment that followed.  Secondly, USA, USA, USA!!!!   The women playing that "all-American" sport are doing quite well so far.  For once, had a good day on the road.  Again, full update when I get back.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Pretty tired from the 1st day of the big get-together for the next week. Nothing to report other than spending time with old friends.

MikeC  - sounds like the trip has gone well. Looking forward to your report on it.

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy & 70 in the Potomac Highlands. Huge doe outside this morning.  Bad storm hit the region overnight, dumping 4-5 inches of rain in far western Potomac River.  FifeMax was beside himself during the thunder.  We made out fine where we are, but a lot of folks in surrounding towns woke up to no power.

Youngest Princess working on the train this weekend (first time since Easter!), and she is handing in her 2 week notice today.  She's through with it.

Me?  I'm enjoying being off so far this summer.  Got to spend yesterday with family at my folks' place eating steamed crabs and drinking ice cold BeerBeerBeer.  Grandson is coming tonight for the week, and we are so looking forward to having him here.

cheapclassics - I thought the promos for the tournament were great.  Too bad the gals didn't learn from ESPN...

Morning.  Hot and humid.  May take a buddy to the farms today.  He has been wanting to go.  Not answering his cell [unusual].  Waiting for his call back.

Hope all have a great week ahead.

Hello there,
Drags rained out last night just before practice started.

Had dinner and a drink at a local establishment followed by a Movie from Redbox. Rain also put the kabosh to hay making. I'll probably have to do it after son goes to work today or tomorrow.

Lazy day so far waiting on grill to get hot. Steaks for lunch then some yard work, still have some flowers that need planted and some rose bushes bought on clearance.

Later probably a trip to see Mom

  Best get to it

Good Afternoon from sunny 93°F Southern Ohio,

A few minutes of calm from an otherwise very very busy past two weeks.

Our parishes held a county wide Catholic Family conference this weekend and it was fantastic!  There were three high profile speakers and the Bishop came down from Columbus and spent two days with folks in Southern Ohio.  Work has been nuts as a very important crane broke down and it took two weeks to find the replacement part.  On top of that there is a new electrical safety guideline requiring a 5 year PM on all switchgear, and if there is no record of the PM you have to de-energize back to the substation.  To further complicate the repair, the system cannot be energized to perform troubleshooting.

On the train from I won a 790 Trainarama on Ebay.  I already had one but now with two I can use the Trainarama to wrap behind almost all of the layout that is against the wall.

Our daughter and her significant other, Mike, is coming in tonight from Los Anglas.  They flew into Cincinnati late Friday and picked up his mother to spend a few days here, so the train room has a roll away bed in it now, so not much progress while I’m off from work.

Banks – the farmers are working like crazy as we are to have a few dry days.  Lots a cutting and baling.

Kev – My condolences for the loss of your MIL, may God have mercy on her soul.

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Good evening all,

Second day on the road went well.  Got to watch US men win a 1-0 squeaker over Curacao in CONCACAF quarter final.  I hope everyone has a good day.

V8Vega - FifeMax is a 7yo Border Collie.  Great with people.  Lives to catch frisbees.  But we can always tell when a storm is coming (even with blue skies), because he cowars so badly.  Taking him into the ground floor train room and running trains soothes him.  We've tried it all.  Just one of those things.

Morning folks!

Sunny and hot. No rain. Activities with the lake July 4 th week gang going great. Man am I bushed just watching the young ones play on the lake. Consumed cold beverages and slathered with 70 SPF...Cool

Phish - that electrical thing sounds like a real pain.

For one of our dogs, one of us had to sit in a closet with her for bad storms.
