Good morning,

Warming out of the sub-zero world at long last. 40s will feel like Roy’s 70s.
Motocycles, yes:
I road bikes for many years when I was young raced a lot to. Had a helmet but never wore it unless I was traveling where it was the law.  Road my Trident to Yellowstone in 83. Then in the 80s I had a friend who was very close try to pass a guy he knew in a car on the right side going over a bridge. He hit the curb fell under the car and was decapitated. Two years after that another good friend got in a bar argument and that guy ran him off the road when he was on his bike and he had bad brain damage that led to his death a few years later. Then Joe crashed Keith’s bike racing me and flew over the handle bars tore his nose off his face and knocked 12 teeth out. Blew his shoes right off him when he hit the ground. I had some close calls but managed to stay off the pavement. At that point I had a young family and parked my bike for about 15 years. Just did not have the heart for it. I still ride but only a few times a year and never in the city.  I had several bikes early on, mini bike, 305 Honda, 125 Honda, A Hodaka dirt bike, 250 Triumph T25T Trail Blazer, TR6C Triumph 650 and then bought my T160 Triumph Trident I still have in November of 1975.
Wife’s birthday tomorrow so I think we will go to the Moose tonight for dinner if she wants to.

Hello there, waiting for Mrs to get out of work then off to fry fish.

First thing in the AM Mrs, a niece and I are heading east to Lancaster to see the Oak Ridge Boys

Kev.....you've had some nice rides. I wished for a Hodaka Ace 90 while riding my Honda Mini Trail about 70 or 71. Sad about your friends. One of my best buds was done in by a car on his side of the road on a sharp curve.

Gotta go.

Prayers for those in need

Thanks Banks, yeah sad. Sad

On a lifghter note: My neighbor Brain brought me this cool sign today from where he works. It was bent and dirty and taken apart so I straightened it out, cleaned it up and will hang it in the train room another day.  Big Smile

Evening folks!

79 today! Yeah Wow Yeah (sorry guys)

Possible severe storms tonight, an issue when we get this yo-yo weather.

Dennis - you have had an interesting life! Good for you!

Kev - nice sign! Will look good on the wall!

I never got into motorcycles. I think one would just fall on me out of spite if I walk too close. Drag racing, that was my thing at the time!

Good Evening,

Had a great day, was with Kay most of the day.  We went to VA, I had a Echocardiogram done, then to her Mom's for some wound dressing change on her leg.  Then to check in on her Dad, (he had lost his remote, but ended up he was setting on it), issue resolved.  Then dinner with Chris.  Very enjoyable.  Tomorrow going to see a play, then one day next week little trip to Carlsbad to visit a winery, and drive through the Poppy fields.  All to celebrate her birthday.

I've been researching FIOS vs Spectrum, going to end up staying with FIOS, savings doesn't offset the changes required and would loose a couple of channels and other inconviences.

Mike C., glad tests went well for your wife.

Roy, Sorry to hear about your finger, sounds like a well deserved and relaxing trip to TN, in the works.  You deserve it.

Kev, Birthday wishes to your wife!  Cake  Really good job on sign looks great.  Looks like you have another one in the background.  Tough to loose all the friends due to MC crashes.  There is 2 or 3 a month here on the morning news that have bought it due to the traffic.  Its really risky out here for them.  And it seems to me even though it legal to split traffic it is just asking for trouble.

Not much going on here this weekend other than the play, may go to a train meet on Sunday.  Need to get the taxes done too.

Take care all, and be safe!

Don

Good Morning,

Rain on the way today and the kids too.

The used In-Sink-EratorI installed in 2011 took a crap again so I went ahead and got a new direct replacement for it at Menards with the 11% off. I found the original paper work and went on line to see what they made that was the same sizes and found two. They are now called Evergrind or Badger but are made by the same people Emerson, so it should be an easy swap. The old one was from 1992 and I got it for free so what can I say? Smile, Wink & Grin

So of course I told Sandra it was her birthday gift,,,Laugh  Happy B-Day

Yes Don I do have another one on the wall in the shed. Got that one back in the 80s. This new one will be in the train room in the basement.

I guess we have all had a lot of friends pass over the years. Makes you wonder why it works the way it does??

Well better get ready for the grand-kids.

Big Birthday Party this afternoon at the Bounce House.  NO WAY, NO HOW!

Spent $2.10 for two old people tickets on the NJ Transit this morning and took the grandsons for a train ride for 20 minutes. They love doing this with Mrs. Buckeye and me. Then breakfast at Panera.

I think a Basket Ball game will prevent me from getting to the Edison train show tomorrow, but I am hoping to visit the trains stores on Mon, Tues and Wed before leaving NJ.

Before anyone stops to at my house to go fishing this summer, make sure I'm home because it is already getting real busy.

Phish....It's time to talk to an elder attorney such that your wife can make the decisions. Oh, the stories I can tell.

Good Evening from wet 51°F Southern Ohio,

Just got home from Vigil Mass and my bride had Lasagna made for supper.  The kids were out with friends so supper was quiet.

I got the AF 2 rail on the layout and powered up.  In a few places the inner and out loop were too close together so I shorted one side by half a track section and the other place is just a matter of adjustments.  I’ll run the two rail with the three rail to ensure all is good and I’ll switch from temporary power leads to permanent feeds.  The 21160 is running good but a 283 and a 290 are going to need a little work from sitting for a few years.

Bride is having a colonoscopy Monday so I’m taking off from work.  After we’re home while she is napping I hope to work on wiring.

Chief – there is a lot of standing water in our woods too, with this extra rain it is going to get real soggy.

Spanky – I remember one year as a kid we had Christmas decorations up and it was almost Easter.

Buckeye – I can only imagine.  My bride is already the medical power of attorney and she and her one sister who is helping are the financial power of attorney.  The problem is the other 5 siblings complain and question every descision, but refuse to help with anything.

Kev – NEAT SIGN!!!!!

May God bless you and your families

Good evening all,

Finally got to 13.1 today.  Did it in 3:35 for a 3.65 MPH average and a 16:25 pace.  Now to work on race day setup!   Went to Mass and watched 3 Hill Street Blues.  Windy and wet here.  Foyt team did not have much luck in qualifying.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Phish....Your wife and her sister are in the driver's seat. They can do just about anything they want unless the other siblings file an injunction and a court agrees. Not likely! The main thing is to take good care of the mother and not worry about sibling's feelings. Don't ask for help from the siblings. It is tough, but the bottom line is do what is best for mom.

Take care, be safe and have a good week.

Good evening all,

Listened to Indycar race.  Foyt team did as expected.   Newgarden won.  Last year with new chassis and aero package there were lots of contenders and winners.  This year Penske, Ganassi, Penske, Ganassi.  Go figure.  Brought down the KW to use on the standard gauge.  That pesky reverse unit on the 8E suddenly got solved with 125 watts blasting thru it.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening folks!

Had some good weather today. Went on a nice hike with my son and some friends.

Agree, everything after the iPhone 7 other than the camera is minor and not worth it, but Apple after experiencing the poor iphoneX sales have kept the prices of the 7's and 8's high to prevent a rush by the public to abandon the X. I have a 7 I inherited and it is no better than my 5s. Apple has abandoned software updates for the 5 and soon the 5s will follow. The phones still continue to work but any new security flaws or software issues will not be fixed.

MikeC - more power!!!!

Hello there,

A whirlwind weekend.

Started Friday evening with frying fish, shrimp and clams for 701 people. A strong start to the season.

Saturday morning to Lancaster. Got there in time for a couple of outlets, late lunch at a combo KFC/Long John Silvers and Mass before seeing the OAK RIDGE BOYS. The youngest is early 70s and they did a great 2 hour show with no breaks.

boys

Late dinner at Red Robin afterwards and a glass of wine before crashing. After a Cracker Barrel breakfast a trip to the Strasburg Train Store where I got a 60's Norge Gas Refridgerator box car by Varney and 14 issues of HO Model Trains circa 52 and 53. I enjoy reading those old Magazines

Norge

Then a couple more outlets before heading west on I283. Late luch at a Deli in Thompson Town Pa, home just before the later sunset. A homemade pitza before crashing hard again.

Fife...... how was the show??

Best get toit

Prayers for those in need.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 45 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Reached 66 yesterday!  Maybe take a ride today.

Went to the Altoona show yesterday (as I didn't have tix to Oak Ridge Boys), and tooh along our engineer and brakeman.  Good event, and I picked up 2 more Marx 74 Signals (one NIB), 2 "shorty" Industrial Rail hoppers, a baggie full of wood ties for my AF track, and a custom painted AF flatcar, done in PRR with wood pole loads.  Only spent $66.

Been really busy in the train room, finishing the C&O Canal area, and scratch building the C&P coal warf (one plank at-a-time).  I had to pre-emptively install one of the Marx semaphores, and it looks and works great.

Good Morning from beautiful 60°F Southern Ohio,

It is beautiful today.  A little windy, but very nice.

I’m off work to assist my bride after her colonoscopy this morning.

I’m working on layout wiring a bit on the inner loop.  I added some small sections to the outer loop to take care of a few places where the loops were too close together.  Ran both the loops at the same time.  It was good to fill the train room with smoke!  Before I set the roadbed and track I want to run the trains for a bit to discover and fix any bugs.

Fife – you did well.  I’ve been looking at the Marx accessories signals and I’ve got a switch tower and Girard Whistle to go on the layout.  The wood ties reminded me I’ll have both size (3 rail and AF) to make/aquire.

Buckeye – My bride is both the legal power of attorney as well as medical power of attorney, so she could just tell them to take a hike, but she is trying to keep all happy and that is hard to do when their natural inclination is otherwise.  Did I ever tell you guys I got the cream of the crop?

Mike C – Good job on the time!

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Good evening all,

Quiet but good day at work.  Wife finally felt good enough to cut hair tonight.  Needed it badly.  For those keeping track at home, Lucas' divorce was final late last week.  Sad end to a long story that should not have gone that way.  Maybe some day he will find some happiness.  Took his sister a long time to do.

On a totally unrelated note, is there any way to register for individual events at a TCA convention?   The website seems to indicate signing up for only the convention itself.  Thanks in advance for any help.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening folks!

A gray and drizzly day, but ok. Son and I are enjoying the spring break trip. Picked up steaks and grilled them tonight. Enjoyed a nice Cabernet with the steaks.

Banks - nice trip and nice find!

MikeC - not sure if I understand your question. From my experience, you have to register for the convention in order to register for individual 'events' at the convention - which I think you are referring to are actually the tours. The forms I have for 2019 conventions allow you to register for the events and the tours on the same form, and the TCA/LCCA conventions I attended in the past allowed me to register for the conventions and tours on-line. Separately, prayers that Lucas finds a path through all this.

Fife - Thumbs Up on layout progress!

Mornin' boys.  Will be spending my day at the RR office, not in the train room.  Spent yesterday with Ms. Kelly.  Made a visit to my folks' place, then on to Tractor Supply, for red mulch.  There, Ms. Kelly fell in love with a weaping willow sappling, which came home with us, as well as a rose bush.  Spread the mulch, and planted the new greenery.  Hopefully the yearlings leave the tree alone.

Did do a little model railroading yesterday.  Since I'm modeling Spring on my layout, I have to "exercise" Christmas from some of my ceramic buildings.  With a fine brush and PLUM colored craft-smart acrylic paint, I covered all the red ribbons on my churches with purple (right phish?).  I also turned all the ornaments on the ceramic evergreens, to pinecones, using med brown paint.  Voila!

phish - If you're going to make some AF ties, I'd love to purchase a handfull from ya.

Good evening,

Got into the 50s today so I serviced the Husqvarna mower and ordered new Oregon Gator blades for it.

They say it will hit 60 Thursday but then back down for the weekend. :-(    Maybe the snow will all be gone by then?

WOW I checked out a new Hyd suction filter for the JD 3203 and they want $84.00+ WOW. Must be that green and yellow box??  Laugh  I need to change that and the antifreeze now that it has over 650 hours on it and go to synthetic oil on this change.  Maybe next month?

Not much else.

Banks, nice picture and I would be proud of her as well!!! Yes

Good evening all,

Good day at work, better than expected.  Weather for walk was nice.  Did a little work on the HO layout tonight.  Made more progress than expected.  Got the May CTT today (early edition).  Wife's sister was here and we played card and board games tonight.  All in all, it was a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio,

I finished powering up the inner AF track on the layout.  So far so good.  I need to do some lableing and tidying up some wires before adding accesories.

Fife - Purple is good for Lent.  As far as the ties go it may be a bit before I need them but I'd be glad to make more for you too.

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Cloudy and drizzle just about all day.

Went to Oklahoma City with the robot team last week for their first compitetion.  We ended up being ranked 43 out of 63 teams after the qualification rounds.  Kind of frustrating, as we were doing much better than the ranking - in most of the qualification matches, we scored either the majority or all of the points.  Turned out well, as we got picked by the #2 seated team when it came time to to choose the alliances for the finals.  We made it into the semi finals before being elliminated.

Been spending time this week with the robotics team thrashing on improvements for the robot.  Hopefully, we will get the new parts finished and on tested on the practice robot before packing up for the Kansas City meet this weekend.

Sterggeon Phish - I bought a Garmin 64S.  It is their previous generation of GPS units, so the value for the price is pretty good.  It uses both the US and Russian satalites to pick position.  The stock map pckage is not great - it only shows the major roads, but better map packages can be loaded.  I haven't taken time to figure that out yet.  It also gives altitude both by correlating location against the topo map and by reading barametric pressure.  The altitude accuracy is something like +/- 20 feet.

If you get a 64 SC, it includes a camera.  That would be handy to document your landmark is once you find it.

About all for now.

Hello there,

Back from delivering Mrs to work, not sure what the day will bring.

Definitly proud of all the grandkids

Roy......to insert a photo from shutterfly I have to open the photo full size, selecting it from an album won't work. Then right click and choose Copy image location. Then in the insert image box right click and paste the link. You also have to put something, anything in the alternate text box or the image description depending on which forum. Not sure why but that's how I do it.

Something interesting I noticed at the Everett railroad.

Navy

Best get on with the day.
